This year has certainly favoured the cacti! I hope you have a dry afternoon in the garden, I think you stand a good chance.
As you can see I have done more work on the yokes and the piston and pump rods. A few more adjustments tomorrow and I am ready to do some serious fitting prior to attacking the steam valve eccentrics.

...I started yesterday and bring my cacti into the conservatory having spent the last 7 weeks outside. I find it does them a lot of good, once back inside it seems to stimulate early and vigorous flowering.
Made me smile and immediately thought of Jake Thackray and 'The Cactus'
The Cactus.

I shall be in the shed this morning but only for an hour as despite the death of the monarch life must go on and it's the day for early doors shopping at the Co-op.After that we'll see, bit like yesterday, the weather could be a bit catchy around noon.....

Morning
Yesterday was a much better day than forecast and I managed to get a lot of garden tidying done. I filled the brown bin twice. Once before it was collected and again afterwards. Most dead plants have been removed and others that looked dead but were sprouting have been cut back and where possible put in the greenhouse to recover. Today I shall tackle the front garden which requires less cutting back and more of a general weed. This afternoon the SKY man is coming to sort out our dish and this evening we are meeting Wendy and Keith for a meal. We brought some of their stuff back from France for them so will return it to them this evening. I also need to phone a friend whose husband had a severe brain haemorrhage whilst we were in France.
We are getting on top of the various jobs that have accumulated in our absence .
Have a good day all

Morning Sue, I don't know about Rochdale but it's very mild out there in Barlick this morning. I have just finished putting my shopping away after early doors shopping at the Co-op. However I did an hour in the shed and I am now ready to start doing all the small jobs that are needed on the cylinder block....

I shall be in the shed starting on the next phase of rescuing the fire pump castings. Lots more 6BA studs and nuts. Deep Joy!
The weather looks OK for a walk and a sit, as I remarked yesterday, no bookie watch as they are closed and all the advertising taken out of the window. Not sure if it's respect or closure.....
The usual activities will follow, chief amongst which is the cooking of a chicken!

Morning
Lots more gardening done yesterday, it looks a bit tidier and I have found my beetroot has grown well and tastes good. I have started to tidy up the runner beans with hopes of more flowers and managed to find enough good beans hiding in the foliage though most are well beyond eating. I weeded in the front garden but ran out of space in the brown bin so its all on hold now till next Thursday. We have our own compost bin but I don’t put weeds or plant seeds in there, its mainly kitchen waste, rhubarb leaves and soft plant vegetation .I was very tired indeed last night and enjoyed our meal out with Wendy and Keith. The SKY man came and the dish is now fixed.
Its Bacup market this morning, though not many stalls are left. The plant man has set up his business from his small holding, our friend, Jon, the pâtissière is at Burnley market, the cheese man only lasted a few weeks but we shall still go to the two butchers and greengrocer. This afternoon we are off to Claires for a short walk and a meal. Have a good day all .

Nice to hear your garden is giving you surprises.....
I have made progress this morning but at the price of some frustration because I dropped a tiny grub screw and couldn't find it..... Never mind, I can go forward with fitting the cylinder block to the main pump assembly.

Photographed a wedding at Garstang Golf Club this afternoon, first one for nearly 3 years. It went well and the weather was kind to me.

I only ever did the pics at one wedding Kev, my niece's.... The flash synch went down on a Nikon newly serviced specially for the occasion and it was a disaster!
I shall be in the shed patiently pursuing my pump. I am heading into dealing with a minimum of 24 6BA studs and nuts.... Deep Joy!! My walk looks to be safe, we have a good day forecast and if I want to have a bet it seems Ladbrokes will be open..... (I shall report later)

I've had an hour in the shed. In my mind's eye this morning was making 6BA studs and fitting them but I soon realised it wasn't going to be like that. Whoever first tapped these holes had a very worn tap and the threads are undersize so I had to re-tap all the holes, 32 of them. Then screw in these long csk head screws and tighten them. What a good job I bought 100 of them. Now I'm ready for cutting them down and fitting the lids.....

Morning
At last, we have woken on English time and not French time. Its taken some time for our bodies to adjust back. It was an ok day yesterday, we did our shopping then watched the ceremony on TV for the proclamation of Charles as Charles III. Then it was a bit of light gardening, filling the compost bin with prunings from the runner beans and filling three buckets with rose stems and other stuff, ready for the brown bin on Thursday. We headed off to Claire’s about 3.00 pm and had a lovely couple of hours sat in the garden before we ate. Erin was busy ‘ doing my nails’ and my hair. I came home with lilac nails and coloured streaks in my hair. It kept a little girl happy and was easily removed when we got home about 9.00 pm .
It was a bust day for the Coventry branch yesterday. Julia and Eve both did an open water swim morning at dawn, the Cotswold championships, or something like that. They both won gold medals and Eve received a trophy as well as a medal. Ed took the opportunity to take Briony to London as she wanted to pay her respects and place a flower with the others. We have lovely photos from both occasions.
Today I think is an ok day. Bob is at the park with the modem engineers, I am undecided what I shall do. I can’t do any more gardening as I really have run out of space now. I shall take it as it comes.
Have a good day all

That would be my worst nightmare, fortunately my 13 year old Olympus E30 didn't let me down, I did have the Olympus E520 in the car as back up though. I also put in a couple of studio flash heads in case it rained

I realised I had a problem Kev when someone said it was very clever how the camera flashed twice to get people ready..... It was pissing with rain so I got everyone in the hall for a group photograph and that was the only pic they got!
Today I shall be cutting that forest of studs back and fitting my lids...... The forecast has improved slightly since yesterday and it may be dry enough for a walk. As for the rest of the day, I shall take it as it comes.

Morning
Our forecast is rain nearly all day. I have no view from the bedroom window, the hills and Rochdale have disappeared. There will be a drier spell for an hour before lunch then rain till 6.00 pm. We have to go to the bank later as Bob has 8 weeks takings from the little train to bank but we will probably go by car as we also have prescriptions to collect which are two miles in the opposite direction. A dry day would have given us the opportunity for a 6 mile walk in a circuit. I have pilates this morning, again the first in 8 weeks. I think I will find it a bit tough.
Have a good day all

I couldn't possibly attempt a six mile walk Sue. Enjoy the fact that you can still do it!
I cut the studs back and fitted the nuts ready for assembly. I have started on the other side but my shoulder was telling me I had done enough.....

Morning
Yes today would be a very good day for a walk, however It is the day of my three yoga/pilates classes and I ache from yesterday’s class. So I think I may pass on the walk . However this is the last week when I will do three classes. The morning relaxation yoga has been moved to an earlier time so I won’t be doing it live. Instead I will use the recording and do the class on Wednesday morning instead. So relaxation yoga this morning and pilates/yoga in the studio this evening. This afternoon I have signed up for a zoom art workshop with Jeremy Ford.
So thats my day, a pretty packed one. Have a good one everyone
