Not much enthusiasm for him from the BBC. He was of course a Climate Change denier, and as such it's a wonder he got a mention at all. . Best look elsewhere for more detail.

He first gave working married women their own seperate tax allowance, and removed the need for them to add their income to their husband's. He abandoned foreign exchange controls- remember when there was a limit on how much Sterling you could take abroad ? I've had my wallet rummaged on the way out. Imagine that today.

He didn't get everything right, and I'm not bright enough for a fuller meaningful obituary. Have a look round yourselves.

His demise came after tracking the Deutsch Mark at 3 to the pound. That raised a smile from those like me, who had been paid in Germany at a rate of eleven.

Will Hutton was very fair I thought yesterday. Whilst attacking Lawson on many of his policies he gave credit to his intellect and the coherence of his arguments. I think Twitter is the place to look at the moment....

It's two years yesterday since my friend and neighbour Clare "The Poet" died.

I miss her enthusiasm for life.

The world is a poorer place for her passing.

Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage has died in Australia.

Unique.

Andrew Neil who saw him recently in hospital in Australia has just said that he had a library of fifty thousand books in London and Australia and had read them all.

RIP.

Barry Humphries 😢. RIP
We were told yesterday that he was in good spirits and receiving visitors, we thought things were looking up for him.
I met him once in the 80’s, when I worked at RM’s.
He had quite a presence , larger than life, and was wearing a long black winter coat and hat. We chatted for about 10 minutes.
He was charming. He will be missed.

Peter Martin has died aged 81. Peter Martin

I never knew his name until today - for me he was Charlie the grave digger in the Beiderbecke Tapes "They're all here sunshine, all the runners and riders"- and of course, from the Jewson builders' merchants adverts.

He made a living by promoting violence on live TV! Personally I think he should have been prosecuted for inciting riot.
