Chongqing would be one of most people’s worst nightmares. Definitely one of mine. Imagine being born there, living there, and thinking that it’s ‘normal’. 😬

If that video was true Cathy would be correct but I hae ma doots! It's a good example of something that has been bothering me recently.
Over the last few days I have noticed that Google flags up a reply as 'generating', it takes longer than a straight Boolean search and the result is a sort of refined gibberish. If this is the brave new world of AI, include me out.

Even so, in 2022 Chongqing had an urban population of almost 30 million people. No thanks.

I agree with your views Cathy and wouldn't want to live there. But I also have doubts about the actual video.....

I haven't experienced that but as I've mentioned recently sometimes a Google search will bring up pages of stuff unrelated to what I entered in the search box. It's also often in a larger font than normal too. [scratches head!]

I just asked Google 'Is the Wilby speed regulator reliable?' ....... That buggered it, it couldn't find a match. That's funny because it has scanned references to the regulator on Oneguy......

I've just put your query into google and got only irrelevant replies. Also they are, again, in larger text than my previous search which had been for EDF smart meters (and that was OK). If i put only the words `Wilby speed regulator' into Google I got one success (a ref to Grace's Guide) but the rest were all about road speed regulation in Flintshire! Obviously, google is having serious problems.

Let's try the other angle. I asked ChatGPT the same question. How true the reply is I don't know. It could apply to any speed regulator, and be triggered by the key words of the question. There are no references to look further into the matter. I'd say the jury is still out on AI, but people still working in many suitable roles should be worried.

ChatGPT said:
The Wilby speed regulator has generally received positive feedback for reliability and effectiveness, particularly in industrial and commercial settings where precision in motor speed control is essential. Here are some key aspects of its reliability:
1. Consistent Performance
The Wilby regulator is known for stable speed regulation, which is crucial in maintaining consistent output in machinery and processes that rely on precise motor speeds.
2. Durability
It’s built for robustness, often designed to handle high operational demands, which makes it a dependable choice for heavy-duty and continuous operation environments. Many users have reported long service lives without frequent breakdowns.
3. Safety Features
It includes safety mechanisms that protect both the motor and regulator from overloads and overheating, which contributes to a reduction in equipment failure and downtime.
4. Ease of Maintenance
Wilby regulators are usually straightforward to maintain and repair, which can help extend their reliability over time. However, like any equipment, the Wilby speed regulator’s reliability can depend on factors like installation quality, adherence to operational guidelines, and routine maintenance. Ensuring these aspects are properly managed can significantly enhance its performance and longevity.

For critical applications, it’s always a good idea to consult reviews specific to your industry or even get a demo to ensure compatibility with your specific machinery or setup.

Quite feasible I would say.

Devils Bridge Baloons

I know they are at the mercy of the wind but they should sack the pilot for not maintaining a proper altitude, (unless they had run out of gas for the burners). That would be bad management though. :extrawink:

That's like the incident I mentioned a few weeks ago here in Taunton. We were walking down our street when we began to hear roaring noise but couldn't tell where from. Suddenly the balloon appeared just above us from behind the houses. We're on the slope from a ridge and I suppose it might have been affected by a down draught but it's the nearest we've had one above us!

Hopefully this will suppress your crap detector a bit. The image is from a video, shot on a phone, by a wagon driver who was in the waiting traffic. A local weather page posted it on their Facebook feed.

Thanks, I'm convinced but you have to admit they couldn't have got the Logo more central if they'd spent an hour on Photoshop! :good:
Later... after 05:00 I heard news from Gaza that Israel has not improved access to humanitarian aid and the deadline for them doing so set by President Biden. This being the case the US have to immediately stop supplying arms under their own laws. However the State Department has not admitted that this is the case and is saying that they will monitor the situation. The UN says that as this is the case the US is guilty of breaking international law.
How long is this travesty of justice going to be allowed? This is murder.

A bit late but perhaps VW have finally realised they will need to `go electric'. A long article on the weekend in The Times described how German car bosses have refused to believe that there would be a market for electric vehicles.
`VW launches $5.8bn tie-up with Tesla rival Rivian' LINK
...As well as SUVs, Rivian also makes electric delivery vans, which it supplies mainly to online retail giant Amazon - its largest shareholder. Amazon has ordered 100,000 of the vehicles which are all due to be delivered by the end of the decade...

I discovered why LCC don't have any money yesterday. I reported the light on our back street was faulty around June I think. Second visit yesterday, this time from two blokes and a platform lift. I was putting the bin out an saw the gaffer scratching his head. There was a car parked on the gable that they couldn't pass and he asked who's it was. I told him it belonged to the end house on our row but he was reluctant to knock on the door and ask them to shift it. He didn't seem amused when I asked him if he had a ladder! They left without doing owt!

This was the second visit from the lighting team. I saw a different bloke a couple of weeks ago and he just came to look at it then left without doing anything, he didn't have a ladder either. :dontgetit:

How much have the failed visits with no resolution cost?

Proper dark on our back street, hope I don't fall and have to sue the council!

Jennifer Purcell is on the case she tells me. She says LCC is useless! I have to point out of course that it's her Tory lot that are in charge. She replies that she is not bothered about party politics in her dealings. However, she did stand on the Tory ticket to get elected!

The temperature sensor on the DPF isn't working, the ECU attempted to run a regen but couldn't read the sensor and decided to shut the engine down. It's now in the garage awaiting a new sensor to be fitted on Monday.
