Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We had our boosters last Saturday morning, arms are a bit sore, and I have been feeling sick and headache since Sunday, feeling bit better today, no headache.

Ours tomorrow afternoon. I shall be watching blood pressure and any changes to my arrhythmia. Good excuse for taking things easy.

I'm just gearing up for setting off to Colne for my booster. Triggered by this thread I took my BP and it's a normal reading.

I had must rushed out to the car to tell Bob they could do his vaccination. Anyway, no appointments till Friday when the practice pharmacist will phone me. GPs are a rare breed these days but at least someone will contact me. Its a good idea getting your own machine. I will think about that

No other symptoms just a sore arm. In fact we have just done a 4 mile round walk i to the hills and Healey Dell. I don’t normally get side effects so I am not expecting any

I got my replacement for the £10 one that Doc bought for me on the web, it's the bog standard Omron and functiond fine. You don't need all the bells and whistles they try to sell you Due, just go for the cheapest Omron machine, it's fine.
I am back from Colne. Jess was there with Kahara and Lily and Susan turned up as well so we all had lunch together. Nice, the great grandchildren are growing so fast!
By the way, I had the jab, no problem at all.
As I logged out I noted that Tripps was browsing the topic....

Our covid vaccination at Colne Health centre was cancelled. Run out of vaccine so they say. Ring 119 to start again in a weeks time. Looks like we're classed as immune or covid fodder. Must change my name to Aa.

I keep checking the website to see if Colne comes back as an option. It hasn't and now the pharmacies in Nelson have disappeared leaving Silsden as our nearest one.
I'm just going to wait.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Got an invite to Barlick Medical Centre this Saturday for a flu jab, I've had to decline as we're away this weekend.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We were booked in at Colne for tomorrow Friday afternoon. The 119 people had said this was the nearest for us, which it was, so that was that. Today we got a phone call from the health centre saying it had been canceled due to lack of vaccines. They advised us to wait a week and ring 119 again. We could of course try to get in somewhere at a distance away but can't really justify the panic after having four already with doubtful guarantee that it would stop the new variant any better than the resistance we have already got. We rarely go out of the house and nobody wants to come to talk to us.Sue wrote: ↑21 Sep 2022, 18:02 y Sue » 21 Sep 2022, 19:02

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Glad you are sorted Sue. It's a good thing to have to hand, can be very reassuring when you feel a bit down and then find your BP is fine!
Ken, sorry to hear about that. I went at noon yesterday and must have been lucky I got my booster shot with no drama.
No reaction at all to the jab, not even a sore arm but I shall play safe and have a very easy morning before going for my Flu jab at 14:30 at Well pharmacy.
Still intrigued by seeing Tripps was visiting the site yesterday..... I hope we see him back soon.

We had the new vaccine which is against the original strain and the omicron . Immunity works by constantly rebooting due to exposure, you wait too long it disappears and covid seems to have a shorter duration than most. Staying inside reduces the chances of frequent low dose exposure and the constant little boosts. Get that vaccine, we are heading to colds and flu season. We had to travel whatever we did .I had no issue with that. Rochdale Infirmary, only a mile from us does not appear to be available if you book online probably because it is booking up on the phone line. Its not panic its common sense . I can’t be doing with sitting waiting on a phone line for ages. I gave up on the Drs yesterday when at 8.00 am, opening time I was 25 th in the queue. I phoned back later and asked for advice instead, and an alternative was arranged for me. I had a couple of health issues that need addressing and I was told the surgery pharmacist could deal with them all.
We went for a 4 mile walk yesterday up on to the moors , its months since we have done that. Then in the afternoon drove over to the Audi dealers in Oldham where Bob needed to get a spare part for his car. The sun visor has snapped off. Today it is art at Haslingden and this afternoon our hairdresser friend, Kath, is coming to cut Bob’s hair and stay for a natter.
My friend , Nicky, is over covid, her Mum , my old teacher friend, Wendy, has had her op and comes home when her care package is in place, her Dad , Barry, has recovered from the heart attack and came home last night. He is going into a residential care home for recuperation whilst Wendy has reduced mobility at home. Her arm will be in a sling for several weeks . What a week, not to be repeated.

Well at least the jigsaw is OK Sue....
I had the flu jab yesterday on top of the Booster the day before and so far I have no reaction. I might decline the shed this morning and go straight into the Early Doors shop as I think it would be sensible to have another quiet day.
As for a walk and a sit, it looks like a good day for that as long as I wrap up well!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Today my vaccinated arm is back to normal, just the slightest tenderness. It appears my BO may be also. The machine arrived yesterday, after a few trials and I became more relaxed I got better readings. Anyway I shall do as suggested for a week and see what happens. Bobs BP was way down!
This morning is dance exercise and I await the phone call from the pharmacist after 9.00.am which I still need to address other issues than my BP. Later I shall empty my accumulating buckets of garden rubbish into the brown bin and continue where I left off cutting back. Lunch is the Italian restaurant at Hollingworth Lake with Wendy and Keith. Their EARLY BIRD menu is very reasonable and portions not too big. There is a bit of towel washing to do but nothing else is planned.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue! That all sounds good and I'm glad you are getting on with the BP tester. You know better than I do that BP can go up and down sometimes in under an hour. I often have a quick check with mine. One thing I forgot to mention is that occasionally it's a good idea to take your machine to the surgery and get your doctor to comp0are readings. Mine has always been exactly like the doctor's and his is calibrated regularly. I keep a record as well. Your doctor loves to be able to see a week's readings when you go to see him.
I am back from the Co-op and my shopping is put away. Very noticeable that my mainly veggie based shop is going up a little each week. Unavoidable I know but painful nevertheless.

Exciting job of the day was to defrost the freezer, 20 minutes with a hand held steam cleaner and it's frost free. Nice and warm out considering the Autumn Equinox 2022 in the Northern Hemisphere was at 02:03 this morning.

You're right Kev, we are being very lucky with the weather. Let's hope it lasts all winter!
I shall perhaps do my hour in the shed but I'm beginning to think a side effect of two shots on two successive days is a touch of lethargy. I am sleeping for England at the moment!
Big cooking day but the weather looks OK for a walk this afternoon.....

Jeepers Stanley, not much chance of that at our surgery, I am beginning to wonder if we have any GPs there at all. The pharmacist was very efficient ,he left a prescription at the surgery to pick up at 12 but in fact it was there earlier as we were going out for lunch I went on the off chance. As you say it was a beautiful day and all my towels dried on the line outside, plus some jeans and pilates gear.
This morning is Bacup market then I have some winter bedding plants to put in the front garden, particularly where I took out some old heathers a few months ago. I shall do some more cutting back in the back garden as the brown bin has now been emptied. I like to get things cleared by late September, early October as we have an old chap who delivers manure to us annually. He and his mate even put it on the garden for us, so its good if my soft perennials that are over are cut back and any plants I am going to move have been moved. We may go to the garden suppliers later as I want a small trellis to train my honeysuckle up and to screen a neighbours garden where sadly they have taken down two beautiful silver birch trees.
So thats it for today, a bit of shopping and a lot of gardening. Have a good day all.

I've just sat down! The last of the veggies are cooking. The chicken is dealt with and the roasting tin washed and put away. Hard work but worth it..... These last veggies are on low and don't need any attention..... I shall think about a walk later when I have got over this frenzy of domesticity!

That sounds painful Ian.....
I shall decline the shed yet again as I am having a bit of a reaction to the jabs... Serves me right for crowing about it.
At 13:30 they are sending a car down for me from Bancroft. They want me to have a look at Johnny's Riley Street clock which they have for safe keeping. That should be interesting.....
