Those who spend too much time on the internet, and saw the clip of a private ambulance (Japanese panel van with no windows) at his house knew that he was probably dead two weeks ago, and so it proved to be. Not excusing his appalling behaviour in any way - but I have had an LP by him from the 1960's and it must be admitted that he was a talented entertainer.
RIP Tina aged 83yrs
From picking cotton in Nutbush to a Queen of Rock’n’Roll.

One of my all time favourites. She had a hard life and Ike Turner didn't help but the word is she found happiness with her success. She deserved it!

The nice thing is that her death has been treated perfectly by everyone. Universal praise and admiration for a force of nature....

Australia loved Tina.
She performed at the opening of the 1993 Rugby Grand Final too, singing Simply The Best.

Robin Page the self confessed 'peasant' from Barton just South West of Cambridge has died aged 80.
I have driven past his farm and HQ of the Countryside Restoration Trust several times recently and each time gave a thought as where he'd gone to. His blog had stopped quite a while ago.
Sorry it's the Mail but it covers it all very well I'd say Robin Page
RIP

The journalist Ann Leslie has died aged 82.
I came across this on the BBC website - which made me smile. . .
Salvation came, according to her account, when she was sent to Oldham in a blizzard to interview a dwarf who had been at school with Cary Grant. They got on like a house on fire, sipping the Scotch he kept hidden from his wife in a kettle.
"We were getting merrier and merrier. Suddenly the wife, who looked like Les Dawson, turned up," she later recalled. "She was furious. She saw this upper-class woman wearing a fur coat getting tipsy with her husband. So she threw me out."

I saw the news about Ann Leslie. I always rated her reports. Her writing reminded me in many ways of James Cameron, another giant of the trade.....
See THIS obituary for Sinead O'Connor who has died young at 56 years old. I love 'Nothing Compares'.

She was a troubled soul and 56 is far too young

I know little of this woman and have had no interest in her or her songs. I could not name a single song of hers. I always regarded her - especially in recent years - as mentally ill.
However after last night's news I came across this - both she and the song are quite beautiful.
