Now for the equally important matter. Am I to understand that your car is with the auto-electrician again? I'm so sorry to hear it has failed you yet again..... If it was me I would be itching to see the back of it, I could never trust it again. Good luck with a resolution!
It is, I'm already looking for a replacement.

I think that's perfectly understandable.... Good luck with it!

No lectrician yet to sort the perceived problem in the hole. The hole itself though since being dug yesterday has inherited two used dog poo bags despite there being a red bin 10 yards further on from the hole.

Demarcation at its finest. That is no joke David, it's a good representation of real life.

How long is the notice in place for?

Letter from United Utilities said the work would take up to 4 days. Something was happening this morning when I was in the shower, a bit of noise in the back street. No one about when I came downstairs but it looks like some degree of backfilling has been done and half of the barriers are piled on top. I would assume the necessary has been done and it will now be waiting for a tarmac and paving crew to reinstate properly. Will find out if the street lamp works tonight I suppose.

The phrase 'making a mountain out of a molehill comes to mind.....
Where are you with the car Kev, any nearer being a commuter again?

Still under investigation, not that I need it at the moment.

In the wars Kev I hope things improve.
In my part of the forest the 4 day United Utilities job duration has come good. 7.30am, four lads in two wagons this morning with a pneumatic pounder and some tarmac. They have filled the hole and reinstated the pavement and kerb adjacent to next doors kitchen extension after a fashion. I say after a fashion as they have not sealed the edges of the repair and they have left the lamp standard away from the vertical, so not a proper job in my view.
One would assume the lamp is fixed, however, it wasn't on last night.

Related as to why County Council stuff costs so much. I read a news report last night regarding the new CEO for LCC. Apparently he will be on something like £125.00 an hour, about 2.5 times what the PM gets paid!

That's the modern world Ian! Below standard repairs after utility excavations and ridiculous salaries paid to heads of departments, schools and councils who aren't firmly controlled.
As an extreme example.... Denise Coates, the CEO of gambling company Bet 365 was paid more than £270 million in the last financial year – a 7 million pounds increase. That's a figure over 70 times greater than a typical FTSE 100 CEO and over 8,000 times greater than the median UK worker.
Is it any wonder that old fogies like me think the world has gone mad?

Stanley , you’ve left a hint or two in the last few days (sorry… mentioned , haha), that this birthday you are turning 90. But the site says 89. Which one is it?
.
89 then

No Cathy. What I have said is that I am entering my 90th year. You do that after 89.
Thanks Wendy and all of you for being my social circle.... You have no idea how important you are to me. (So many of my friends have died.... It's one of the penalties of age.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STANLEY!!
Mrs Tiz was online before me today and she said to me "It's Stanley's birthday and he's bought himself 12 of something...guess what" and quick as a flash I replied "Toilet rolls!" but it turns out I was wrong!

And they are a great success! I have been trying to find a comfortable boxer short for a while.... I had to get them from China via Denmark but worth the trouble. Beautiful soft cotton.....
Thanks for the birthday wishes.

I have just uploaded 12,142 postal voters for Pendle into our election database system, all cross checked and without error.

Need the info for the Ribble Valley side of the hill now.
