Be going to the remembrance service on the town square and then laying the Labour Party wreath at the war memorial. Sally will be laying the wreath for Bosom Friends. Looks like the weather will be relatively kind this year.

It was, very moderate weather as long as you were wrapped up.
I shall have my hour in the shed chasing my crank pin.... No rain forecast so it looks as if a walk and a sit is on as long as I wrap up well!

Morning

It was a nice day yesterday but there was a distinct chill in the air. Our weather was more like Leeds than the 21 degrees in Wales. I gardened until about 1.30, clearing up the leaves from the cherry tree , a bit of weeding, taking out a lavender and 6 overgrown heathers and spreading manure, in the Spring I shall transplant three over crowded roses from the back in to the space. After a cuppa i washed my gardening clothes, which did not dry on the line outside . Ut was too chill even though there was a breeze. I did bulk cooking for Wendy and Barry plus prepared the veg for our tea and at about 4.30:put the chicken in the oven . I then settled down with a cuppa to watch Strictly Come Dancing on catch up as I missed it on Saturday for wine appreciation. Bob came in at that point so yet another cuppa was had. In the evening I finished a spread sheet I had been doing listing all the themes we have had in the last three years with the wine group so that we can identify what to do next.

This morning is pilates. Sometime during the day we shall take the meals round to Wendy, but we could also do with a walk, perhaps to the bank. We will have repeat prescriptions to get too. Its due to be cloudy with rain from about 6.00 pm.its a lovely light morning and a multi coloured pink, grey and blue sky

Have a good day.

We've got those colours as well Sue and yes, the outlook is for the weather to cool down after a very wet day tomorrow.

I'm getting too old for this game..... It's taken me an hour and a half to get the workpiece set up in the 4 jaw chuck. After numerous failed attempts I got it to within 2 thou and said bugger it, that's good enough. The acid test is to cut the remaining metal out tomorrow..... I think it'll be all right.

I have had my walk and a sit on security duty at the end of Albert Road. Dull and you need to be wrapped up well but not what you'd call cold.. I had a light lunch of a Scotch Egg while I sat there.... :biggrin2:

This morning I shall be in the shed following Ken's advice. If it all goes belly up I shall blame him of course. Not even speculating about walking and sitting as the forecast is wind and rain. I shall hunker down in a warm corner somewhere..... :biggrin2:

That's all you need to know. :biggrin2:
We have an answer! Here's the story, I started to cut the crank pin and all went well until the tip in my parting tool shifted, jammed up and you can see the result. Not sure who to blame, but the result can't be argued against. This is now officially scrap!
I cut another piece of stock in Mrs McMaster and put the 3 jaw SC back on the lathe. I shall start from scratch tomorrow.... :biggrin2:

Morning

After an active day yesterday ( pilates in the morning , walk in the afternoon) today will be a quiet day sewing, in the warm and dry. Its pilates and yoga this evening. I took Wendy and Barrys meals round at noon and was pleasantly surprised to see Barry sat in his chair peeling potatoes and carrots and Wendy in the kitchen cooking some lunch. It was lovely to see them normal again after so many long weeks, 🤞that it lasts. I think my cooking mission will now be in decline but perhaps not yet completed.

Thats it for today. Hope your engineering works out Ok Stanley. Have a good day all. I hope you don’t get too wet walking Wendy

Like you Sue I have got over the smash up. It was my fault, I was over confident. I shall make another faster and this time the right way! You will do the same with your dress.....
There is a chance that a walk and sit might be on as it is a dry forecast but chilly, single figure day!

Today is a clean fresh start from scratch but this time doing it the right way instead of being over confident and just sailing on without thinking. The piece of stock is centred ate each end, cleaned up and the PCD of the crank pin centre marked on the end. The position of the cut to get rid of the excess metal is marked and this time that is the first job, get it under the mill and cut out the major part of the excess out. That's for tomorrow....

Morning

I had a bit of a day yesterday and I should have known better than to sew a dress that was already causing bother. No great issues in the day but lots of little things that did not go according to plan. I shall finish the rest of the dress, try it on and debate wether a simple shortening will be the solution, it is longer than I normally wear.

Its supposed to be a nice morning, a bit of fresh air won’t go amiss, perhaps a short stroll into the Dell. This afternoon I shall tackle the dress whilst waiting for my new ipad to arrive. I am not pleased about having to buy the latter but mine is 8 years old and the operating system is apparently too old to update the apps. Unfortunately these are apps I use a lot and have things stored in, otherwise I would have changed to a Samsung at a fraction of the price.

I have no other plans for the day

Spooky - I just replaced my Archos Tablet (don't ask) today. I have now learned the hard way, that Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) "is no longer supported" which means it doesn't work.

Good job it only cost me £4.50 +PP. It's a shame since physically it's as new.

Apple have many ways of getting money out of you......
I shall be in the shed doing my shaft the right way! I was going to have a coffee with Mick before he flies out to Perth on Sunday but I'm sneezing a lot this morning. Nothing serious but the last thing Mick needs is another infection to take to the wedding..... Apart from that the day looks cold and wet at the moment.....

Morning

It was a better day yesterday. In the morning we did a good speed walk down through the dell and round the lodge. It was very wet under foot and we have missed the beautiful colours of the trees but the waterfalls were magnificent . I finished the dress but still have the hand sewing to do. Shortening it solved the issue as it removed the offending cut, and it looked better shorter. My new ipad arrived at lunchtime and I am more than pleased. It is so much faster, the battery lasts longer and my apps are now functioning again . I don’t really regret paying out when the benefits are so good.

This morning is art at Haslingden with our visiting art tutor, Judy. It promises to be a challenging session. This afternoon our friend Kath is coming round for a cuppa and a chat, then I shall finish the hand sewing on the dress.

Its going to be a rainy day. Have a good one all, I shall be thinking of you Wendy, walking in the rain.

I'll be thinking about her as well. Rather her than me!

Image

A quiet and purposeful hour and a half in the shed. I cleaned the bed of the mill and rubbed it down with a diamond hone to get rid of any dings... Then I mounted the stock for the shaft on the bed and sat in the gap for holding down bolts which ensures that it is exactly in line with the bed.
Then I sorted out an HSS parting tool and mounted it on the lathe. I checked the centre height by facing the aluminium stock and then went back to the mill and started cutting. That's where I finished up and where I will start again tomorrow.
P{_S.... I did a load of washing as well....

Thank you Sue and Stanley! I'm meeting Sally in Barlick at 2pm, the plan is to walk up Lister Well Road then drop down towards Salterforth but that could change if its very unpleasant. We will see what it looks like this afternoon. I can afford to miss a couple of days as the total is 70 miles so far.

Morning

Hairdressers this morning followed by our usual Friday lunch with friends. Today is the Italian by Hollingworth Lake. They do a very reasonable or three course Early Bird menu. We shall call at the garden centre on the way back as I want some plastic saucers so I can bring my plants into the conservatory for the winter. Bob is out this evening at an engineers meeting, I shall relax in front of the T V or cut out another dress.

Have a good day all.
