You have all been busy whilst I've been away. Chicken & black pudding pie for tea or corned beef cottage pie, have not decided yet.

That sounds good Moh. I love blood puddings! I had the last of the sausage casserole on a home-made bread butty for tea. They were free sausage from Kath so today will be a repeat because I bought some sausage as well. No problem, there are worse things in this world than getting sausages free because they were made the day before!
PS. Cholesterol readings from this month's annual blood test well within permitted levels so the chips, butter and meat aren't killing me!

Lucky you I am not convinced that cholesterol does cause strokes and heart attacks so keep going Stanley there's so much contridiction. One minute eggs are good for you next they are not. Butter and milk all natural products that didn't seem to harm our ancesters but are now rated bad for you. Everything in moderation thats what my old doctor said and I believe him. Mind you I have eaten that much fish recently I will be growing gills. Poached salmon salad for tea last night it was delicious.

Hubby decided for me, he preferred the cottage pie with corned beef, it was lovely. Tonight it is lamb shanks, garden peas, cauli. and our first Jersey potatoes of the year. I hope they taste like Jerseys.

One minute eggs are almost always bad for you........I usually go for Thee and a Half minutes after the water has boiled !

Eileen, I think genes and exercise have a lot to do with it. You're right, I am lucky.
Moh, good corned beef is a much underrated meat. It's the nitrate content due to the processing that frightens people off.
Made another sausage and bean casserole, lovely! Enough left for today..... Fruit for pudding, a banana, an apple and a pear.

My brother put me of corned beef a bit he used to call it corned dog! Having said that we used to shell the peas for mam until she said she hadn't enough to cook as we had eaten most of them. He tried to put me off them as well said make sure you chew them well as there might be worms in them. That's what comes from having brothers.

Tonight for tea it's catch as catch can in other word's haven't a clue.

Had the fish cakes. Got a large peice of rump steak on special offer yesterday, it will do us for 2 days. Tonight I am doing a beef and pepper casserole with half of it.

I shall be having the third man-sized beef butty from the casserole today. Three good meals from a piece of steak and a tin of baked beans. No wonder I have such a good blood analysis.
Freezer is full again. Middle White pork this time. A bit too fatty for most people but I like it and the price was adjusted accordingly.

Now here's a bargain !
Strolling round Tesco yesterday , I spotted some humous that had been (double)reduced to 30p.
Bought it along with some "basic " pitta bread for 20p (...Last of the big spenders , me !)
Got to the "payfer" and the lady overcharged me for the Humous (@ first reduction price 75p)...
She spotted it after I had paid , profusely apologised and told me to go to customer services ,where they would give me a refund......
Nice lady at C.S. then gave me DOUBLE the overcharge (90p).....
Result ...Tesco paid me 40p to take my lunch away ...Hoooray !

PS I seem to be on a bit of a winner this month (it won't last) A few days ago I got my AA renewal notice and was a bit taken aback by the cost (£176. for Roadside Relay and Home start) .
Mistakenly , I thought it had increased sustantially ,so I phoned to query it....
Young man pointed out that last year's bill was £169 , but did I want to discuss it with one of his colleagues......and before I said anything , I found myself listening to "Hold" music.....
Moments later someone else said "Good afternoon Mr Bradley , I understand you are not happy with the charges for your membership renewal........would £125 . be acceptable" ?
(Honestly , I had not spoken.!)
I wonder if I'd said "£125....?" in a surprised tone , would it have come down further ??....As it was , I rather meekly said my thanks and hung up.....I had the confirmation letter yesterday !
PPS IDO know how to start a car at home , by the way.

Moh, forget scare stories about beef being bad for you and look up instances of iron deficiency in vegetarians!

Had a Haggis day yesterday, when they were on offer at the Cathedral of Choice I put three in the freezer. I do like a good spicy haggis. Full of good stuff.
