Morning

I can’t believe the time. I seems to have had over 9 hours solid sleep. We had a good evening last night but we were all in bed early . Jane usually goes after breakfast and I have an appointment at 12. I have no other plans. I cleaned my sewing room yesterday, and as I have to strip Jane’s bed I may as well make it up as two singles for Eve and Briony next week.

Have a good ay all

A big sleep like that is always a good sign Sue. Perhaps it's the breaking of the infection that has been troubling you. I hope so!
I shall do an hour on my castings then go to the Co-op for my early doors Xmas shopping. The weather forecast is for heavy rain late morning on so I shan't even think about walking and sitting but resign myself to some serious veggie cooking for the next week. Tonight my butcher will deliver my meat so tomorrow morning will be chicken roasting time. That's right, my Xmas dinner will be chicken and veggies.... :biggrin2:

Shopping for my last minute groceries today was ‘full on’. I haven’t seen so many shoppers together since we were doing our last minute ‘panic’ shopping before our first Lockdown .
And most of the tills at the supermarket were down due to internet issues. That resulted in a half hour wait in snaking queues. Then in the green grocers, a twenty minute wait in the queue.
What a morning, omg! And there’s still tomorrow to get thru for some people.
I’m home now for as long as possible 😊
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

Morning

Another long sleep but still coughing well, a real chesty cough. My sister also developed a nasty cold whilst here and left soon after breakfast yesterday to go back home to bed. Not my cold but she thinks her ex partner’s, who has been ill all week. ( although not now an item they still share the same home due to financial circumstances )

Today we are off to Bacup market, then Burnley market rounding off the morning with our usual Friday lunch. We are by ourselves this week as Wendy and Keith flew to Geneva yesterday to spend Christmas with their daughter and family. I think we are all finished here then. Tomorrow I have some cooking to do, our contribution to the meal on Sunday.

Have a good day all

Nurse that cough Sue......

This morning was fitting the valve rod gland to the steam chest. I held the gland for finishing by using a 5/32" rod to centre it and a bed of wet and dry paper to give me a friction drive. Then I drilled the steam chest and finished by drilling the gland for the studs and marking the casting ready for drilling and tapping. That's for tomorrow! A good hour....

The veggies got cooked. Today I shall pop my chicken in to roast before I go in the shed to play out with my castings.... A walk and a sit could very easily be on the cards.... the weather doesn't look bad at all.

Morning

Yet another late sleep. I am hoping I am sleeping off this bug. I heard yesterday that Wendy and Keith did not get to Geneva. Wendy had started with my cold on Sunday and Keith on Tuesday. However Keith collapsed and ended up in hospital. He has been diagnosed with flu. After 12 hours on a drip and 24 hours in hospital he is back home. Wendy has been told she has flu also and thought I must have too. Hoever I don’t think so. There is noway I could have spent hours sewing this week and I have cleaned two rooms from top to bottom ready for visitors both this week and last week. I have not even had classic flu symptoms, no aches, shivers, fever even my cough is not the classic dry cough but a real chesty one. They did visit relatives on Sunday who were ill and I think they must have had flu.

So thats my news. We had a busy shopping morning yesterday, luckily it was not busy. Neither was the restaurant at lunchtime. I managed to eat my biggest meal all week but still not my usual hearty self.

Today I have some cooking to do for tomorrow, our contribution to the Christmas meal. Otherwise I have no plans. Have a good day all.

Cooked our contributory veg for tomorrow at our Carla's. Sally did the sprouts, I did the honeyed parsnips in the Air Cooker. Been down to Gill with seasonal offerings for Mum and Dad and our Dan. Churchyard and Cemetery quite busy this morning. Had a chat with my mate Pete and his partner. Me and Pete share our birth date, infants, primary and secondary classes, nice to catch up. Need to vac round and have a beard trim and a shave and decide what I am wearing tomorrow. After bacon butties tomorrow morning we will be meeting at the Counting House pub in Silsden for an odd one with our Silsden and district friends.

Today will be an ordinary day as all the kids are away for Xmas. I should add that it's with my blessing, they shouldn't be held back from doing what they want at Xmas with their friends. They know I am very happy on my own in the warm with the Xmas broadcasting on the BBC.
I shall be in the shed doing useful things to my castings. Not sure about a walk as we are promised rain during the day, I shall take a view later.
All my cooking is done and I shall have a full Xmas dinner of roast Fowl and veggies..... :biggrin2:

Time to start drilling and tapping on the Cylinder and I started by attacking the fit of the lid and steam chest on the cylinder. The process started with using the packing as a template to mark the lid with stud positions and drill tapping size. This is the template for all the other drilling. This pic shows I had got to the point where two studs are in place and this holds the assembly while I mark for the other 4 long studs. But that's for tomorrow. An hour and a quarter of slow but accurate work.

I shall stick to my routine and at 06:00 I shall go in the shed and do at least an hour on my engine castings. I shall soon have a viable cylinder! Not sure about a walk as we are promised cold rain, I don't see the point of going out in that.

Only one image needed this morning after a quiet careful hour and a half drilling the chest and lid clearance for the studs and then drilling and tapping the cylinder for the studs.
The picture shows the cylinder at closing time, with its steam chest and lid fitted. We are ready to start drilling and tapping for the lids now.
In case you're wondering, the slab of aluminium is there because for a while now I have been considering making soft jaws for my 6" Parkinson Perfect Vise.... Don't be surprised if I allow myself to be diverted!

Morning….well afternoon. Got home an hour ago. Nice and sunny in Preston, hailing and raining here. We had a lovely day, fabulous food, ( Claire did us proud) lovely company. Adams parents were there and fleetingly his brother and partner. We haven’t seen them for 18 months

Hope everyone had a good day.

Still coughing well I think it is now a chest infection. I foresee a GP appointment coming up if at all possible, having tried all over the counter remedies and inhalations

It's time that Cough stopped bothering you Sue....
My anti-social habits seem to be protecting me, I have plenty of things wrong with me but none of them respiratory!
I shall be in the shed as usual with my castings but I'll take a view on the rest of the day when I see if the forecast is right, we are promised icy underfoot and then heavy rain in the forecast....

2. Still coughing but not sure it is infected
3 spent the day renovating old toy and ornamental swing machines. Not up to much but the silver one is nice and Bob is making a stand for it.

No plsns for the day.

Annoying when that happens isn't it Sue. I had a similar morning.

This tells you all you need to know. I was in the shed for two hours and in the end had two pieces of stock for my vise jaws. (A glutton for punishment.)

I can echo your remark of Thursday Sue, I can't believe I slept for over nine hours. But it must be good for us so I shall crash on...
I shall be in the shed and am having a holiday from castings by making two aluminium jaws for my Parkinson's vise. Then second sleep and it looks as though today will be a rerun of yesterday without a walk as we are promised heavy rain and strong winds.... Deep Joy!
(I shall not be having any disasters like yesterday.... That saw would cost over £50 to replace......)

Morning

This morning I went online early and managed to get a telephone consultation this afternoon with my Dr. I don’t know if I need antibiotics but I certainly need something. I was in bed early again last night. I did however do washing, ironing and changed the bedding yesterday. Bob blew up the air beds for Julia and Ed, and I made up the spare beds for the girls after Jane stayed last week. I spent the afternoon sitting, playing games on my ipad and doing some crocheting. All passive activities after a busy morning.

Julia and family won’t arrive till this evening as Julia is working today. I shall make a large lasagne for tea for when they arrive. I have no other plans for the day.

Have a good day
