He's just been seen by one of the registrars and 'straight from the horse's mouth'
Basically said my heart freaked out a bit, but wasn't caused by a blockage or anything, so once I take some rest and ibuprofen it should start to sort itself out

Now all he has to do is be sensible! I hope whoever employs him can see the sense of some time off.
What grabbed me this morning was how heavy the rain is. We haven't had rain as heavy as this for a long time. It never rains but what it pours?

I'm very happy to see a successful outcome to this worrying episode. Best wishes for the future - as Stanley says - take a break now.
I have put a post - which may or may not be relevant here - but in the Medical Matters section where it more properly belongs.
I think It's 'worth a look'.

Now I can concentrate on cooking vegetables later this morning! (That's more my intellectual level....)

I can see why the sailors went the extra mile for them.
Meanwhile,
THIS caught my attention this morning.
Donald Trump has had a busy seven days. On Monday, he threatened to redirect $3bn in Harvard research funding to vocational schools. On Tuesday, the White House sent a letter to federal agencies, instructing them to review the approximately $100m in contracts the government has awarded Harvard and "find alternative vendors" where possible. On Wednesday, he had more to say on the matter still. "Harvard's got to behave themselves," he told reporters gathered in the Oval Office. "Harvard is treating our country with great disrespect, and all they're doing is getting in deeper and deeper and deeper." When combined with other administration attempts – freezing more than $3bn in research grants and suspending foreign students from enrolling in Harvard – Trump's directives represent a frontal attack on one of America's most prestigious, and wealthy, institutions of higher education. Even if court challenges overrule some of these actions – some have already been put on hold – the impact is being felt across the landscape of American higher education.
I've been watching this episode and wondering what the outcome is going to be.....

THIS BBC report.....
The UK will build up to 12 new attack submarines, the prime minister will announce as the government unveils its major defence review on Monday. The review is expected to recommend the armed forces move to "warfighting readiness" to deter growing threats faced by the UK. Sir Keir Starmer will say up to 12 conventionally-armed nuclear-powered submarines will replace the UK's current fleet from the late 2030s onwards. The prime minister is also expected to confirm the UK will spend £15bn on its nuclear warhead programme. Sir Keir will say that, alongside the UK's nuclear-armed submarines, the new vessels would keep "Britain and NATO safe for decades". The Strategic Defence Review, commissioned by Labour, will shape the UK's armed forces for years to come. Led by ex-Labour defence secretary Lord Robertson it will make 62 recommendations, which the government is expected to accept in full.
I accept the need to address the shortfall in defence preparations but reflect on two things. The enormous cost of just two aircraft carriers of dubious value because we haven't the warplanes to man them and also the fact that there is no question of us not spending this money that we haven.t got when we all know that benefits and social investment are going to be cut once again on the 11th of June.....
Remember
THIS? Never properly explained and the most damaging loss of life ever during The Troubles. The records shouldn't be destroyed but made public. We have been kept in the dark for far too long.

As you all know I have a historical interest in housing and so
THIS interests me.
First-time buyers are borrowing through mortgages that last an average of 31 years as the affordability of homes remains a stretch. A decade ago, the average mortgage term for those buying a first home was 28 years, according to figures from banking trade body UK Finance. Higher mortgage rates have pushed people to borrow for longer to keep their monthly repayments as low as possible. Despite mortgage rates having fallen recently, these terms are showing no sign of dropping again. Recent data showed that about two in five new mortgages had terms that see homeowners still making repayments into retirement.
The cost of housing has been so badly mismanaged over the years. I managed to buy a good house on a wage of 15p/Hr, something today's young families find impossible to believe. All right, inflation skews that figure but consider this, I paid for Hey Farm in 15 years.... Today's young couples are looking at twice that length of time and sometimes paying well into retirement. It didn't need to be like this. We have seen too many social goods allowed to become profit centres, housing isn't the only one. Is it any wonder that wealth distribution has become so unfair?
So far education, health and justice have been protected. For how long?

THIS continuing abomination got my attention yet again...
Aid distribution centres in Gaza will be closed for a day on Wednesday, as the Israeli military warned roads leading to the sites will be considered "combat zones". The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a controversial US and Israel-backed aid network which began operating last week, said it was closing its sites for "update, organization and efficiency improvements works". In a separate update, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said people would be "prohibited" from entering the distribution centres or travelling on roads leading to them. Overnight on Tuesday, at least 27 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire close to a distribution centre, according to the Hamas-run Civil Defence Agency. It was the third deadly incident in as many days to occur on a route to a GHF site.
I do not understand why there isn't global outrage over what is happening in Gaza even after the UN has recognised it as war crimes.
It is abundantly clear that what is happening here is a deliberate Israeli plan to eject the Palestinian Arabs from the Gaza Strip and the West bank to open them both up for settlement.
What disappoints me most is that the mass of the Israeli population hasn't risen against Netanyahu and his Zionist policies. They are not bad people, how can they allow this?
Later at 07:25. The spokesman for UNICEF has just been speaking on Today and he described what Israel is doing is 'a veneer and sham to disguise what they are actually doing'.

Gaza has become worse than hell on earth, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross has told the BBC. In an interview at the ICRC's headquarters in Geneva, the organisation's president Mirjana Spoljaric said "humanity is failing" as it watched the horrors of the Gaza war. Speaking in a room close to a case displaying the ICRC's three Nobel Peace Prizes, I asked Ms Spoljaric about remarks she made in April, that Gaza was "hell on earth", and if anything had happened since to change her mind. "It has become worse… We cannot continue to watch what is happening. It's surpassing any acceptable, legal, moral, and humane standard. The level of destruction, the level of suffering. "More importantly, the fact that we are watching a people entirely stripped of its human dignity. It should really shock our collective conscience." She added that states must do more to end the war, end the suffering of Palestinians and release Israeli hostages. The words, clearly carefully chosen, of the president of the ICRC carry moral weight.
How much more pressure is needed to change the situation?

Trump and Musk. Summary.
Tensions between US President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk have reached breaking point, and the bromance is over between the world's most powerful leader and richest man . For more than a week, Musk has been trashing Trump's signature piece of legislation - a spending bill - actively lobbying against it. On Thursday, while meeting the German leader in the Oval Office, Trump spoke candidly about his disappointment with Musk. In response, Musk launched a series of extraordinary attacks on X, suggesting without evidence that Trump appears in unreleased files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump shot back several times, saying that Musk "went CRAZY" and was asked to leave the administration. He also threatened to cut government contracts with Musk's companies. Amid the fighting, Tesla's stock price dropped a significant 14%, lowering Musk's EV giant below the $1 trillion threshold. But Musk has walked back from an earlier threat to decommission a crucial SpaceX spacecraft used by US astronauts. The public feud comes after Musk last week officially left his government post, where he was tasked with rooting out excessive spending through Doge
For more, see
THIS.
What happens when the richest person and the most powerful politician have a knock-down, drag-out fight? The world is finding out – and it's not a pretty picture. Donald Trump and Elon Musk have two of the biggest megaphones, and they have now turned them on each other, as a disagreement has ballooned into a war of words. Trump has threatened Musk's voluminous business dealings with the federal government, which form the lifeblood of his SpaceX programme. "The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to terminate Elon's governmental subsidies and contracts," Trump posted menacingly on his own social media website. If Trump turns the machinery of government against Musk, the tech billionaire will feel pain. Tesla's stock price plunged by 14% on Thursday. It's not a one-way street, however. After that volley, Musk called for Trump's impeachment, dared him to cut funding for his companies and countered that he was accelerating the decommissioning of his Dragon spacecraft, which the US relies on to carry American astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station. Musk has near limitless resources to respond, including by funding insurgent challengers to Republicans in next year's elections and primaries. And late on Thursday afternoon, he said he was dropping the "really big bomb" – suggesting without evidence that Trump appears in unreleased files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. His press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, offered only a tepid pushback to Musk's allegations and accusations. "This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted," she said.
There is much more so read on but here is what caught my attention.....
"Trump has 3.5 years left as president," Musk wrote on X, "but I will be around for 40-plus years."

THIS report on Musk v Trump......

When Elon Musk recently announced that he was stepping back from politics, investors hoped that would mean he would step up his involvement in the many tech firms he runs. His explosive row with President Donald Trump - and the very public airing of his dirty White House laundry - suggests Musk's changing priorities might not quite be the salve they had been hoping for. Instead of Musk retreating somewhat from the public eye and focusing on boosting the fortunes of Tesla and his other enterprises, he now finds himself being threatened with a boycott from one of his main customers - Trump's federal government. Tesla shares were sent into freefall on Thursday - falling 14% - as he sounded off about President Donald Trump on social media. They rebounded a little on Friday following some indications tempers were cooling. Even so, for the investors and analysts who, for months, had made clear they wanted Musk off his phone and back at work, the situation is far from ideal.
Latest news is that Trump is threatening to sell the Tesla car he bought off Musk.
Later at 05:00. Latest news from the US is that Musk has said that a new middle range political party is needed and Trump says he is too busy to comment on what Musk is saying about him......

Loud voices and sounds of shed-building followed by flames 5 feet high at half past midnight in our front gardens. Three doors up were having a barbecue complete with fire pit. I considered calling the fire brigade but the flames and the noise subsided so I went back to bed.
I wonder if they gave any thought to anybody else when planning their entertainment.....

Those large leafy plants (perhaps `Lads Love',
Artemisia abrotanum) will have been preventing the growth of smaller species such as the Bird's-Foot-Trefoil (
Lotus corniculatus) seed that I sent you. That has small leaves and doesn't grow very high. There's still plenty of time for it to start to show itself. Until it flowers it looks rather insignificant and also the low temperatures you've been having won't have encouraged early growth!

There are some vary small plants in the undergrowth at that point..... The large plants weren't Lads Love, more like a heavier variation of what used to grow on bomb sites!

Re your email Stanley. A bit of background- on the 7th May, I had to ring LG about my washing machine making a ‘scraping noise’.
I was told to take a 10 second video showing the problem, and send it to a link that they sent me. Seems straightforward, I thought.
Believe it or not it took until the 9th June for the machine to make the scraping noise again. Nearly 5 weeks.
Every time I used the machine between those dates, had me next to the machine, phone in hand with video set to press at a certain part in the cycle. Oh! The frustration!

Eventually the noise happened and I captured it.
Anyway back to the Link and time to send the 10 second video. It wouldn’t accept the video and the link name changed to the company name.
I kept trying and eventually was told that my video had been sent as a Draft.
Something was niggling me, so the next day (yesterday) I went back to the link , tried again and to my surprise

the video was accepted.
My Email tells me that it has been sent. So now I suppose that they have 2 copies of of the video.
I made it within 2 days of the warranty ending!
Hopefully I will hear from them soon… or they will hearing from Me.

This has me puzzled. Perhaps I don't get out enough!
`David Walliams Nazi salute unacceptable, BBC says'
BBC News
I won't waste space explaining about the news item, you can get the details from the article. But what I don't understand is why everybody seems to be attacking Walliams with such vehemence. Are we not allowed to raise an arm in the air if anyone else can decide that it's a Nazi salute? Buried further down the article it mentions that at some point he also gave a`sexual' gesture with his other arm but all the rage seems to be about him raising his arm. I can't find any relevant images on Google to see the so-called Nazi salute. Perhaps google has censored them. When Elon Musk did something similar recently it was mentioned in the news briefly but didn't seem to cause much response. Are all the old war films going to be censored? I'll bet there are Dad's Army episodes with Nazi salutes in them. We're ahhhll, doomed I tell ye, ahhhhll doomed!
