Bloody Hell Gloria! I thought this was going to fox you. Yes, exactly right, used for ramming lead wool into joints in pipes. How about putting the next one up!
I am astounded that you knew that.

Don't know the correct terminology but is it a linking part of the harness on the side of the head?

No, not on the side of the head.

I'd love it to be a 'snaffle' as I've no idea what one is but like the word.

You aren’t far off Tripps, it is a bit, it’s called a Dr Bristol.

I would have got that wrong Gloria, I thought it was a French Link Snaffle. I see it's all to do with the angle of the link, is the Dr Bristol gentler!

I was going to suggest a bit but it didn't look big enough on the original photo.

No the Dr Bristol is stronger than a French link. But it’s really horses for courses, some go better in one, some the other. A lot depends on the size of the tongue as well.

The preceding exchange could only happen on OneGuy....
David, snaffle entered my mind as well but liker you I discarded the thought because I didn't know what a snaffle was and didn't care enough to look it up!
We need another object......

I'd heard the ITV Racing chap use the phrase 'on the snaff' ". He meant 'on the bridle' which is another phrase you are better off not knowing about. I would urge you not to Google 'snaffle'. There's an amazing amount of information, and your life will not be improved by it.

That made it imperative I looked it up and you're right David, when I got to Eggbutts and Bradoons I gave up. I see Gloria;s Dr Bristol is reckoned to be a severe bit....
Let's get back to mystery objects....
What are these?

I’ll hazard a guess as I’ve no idea, protection for something, but I don’t know what.
