Morning

So much for pottering. I seemed to be busy all day. Whilst I have no dining room table I took the opportunity to turn all the chairs upside down and use scratch remover on the legs, I did my sewing, sorted out the geraniums, did some washing and the ironing and also had a go at making croissantes. The latter took for ever. I did not do anything outside as frost was forecast last night.

Today i shall change the bedding and put the washer on ( such luxury) then we are walking down to Healey Dell Tea rooms for breakfast, followed by a walk up to Lanehead, Rooley Moor and back. Afterwards a bit of knitting I think

Have a good day

Yes we thought so. Bob is not at the park until March so we thought we would make the most of a nice Sunday. The tea rooms do a good breakfast, they are only open Thursday to Sunday and Bank holidays.

You must have had a good morning!
I shall be in the shed putting my engine back on its finished plinth and working on the steam valve. It's going to look quite swish this morning. I must have a walk later to the pharmacy for my meds. Apart from that, I really must do something about my claim to the Ombudsman. I have no appetite for it.....

I started the day by remounting the castings on the finished plinth. Then I moved on to further refinement of the rough steam valve casting. I ended the day with the driver bar fitted and I am ready to mill the exhaust passage in the base of the valve. But that will do tomorrow..... A good hour and a quarter..... :biggrin2:

Morning

Lovely walk yesterday, followed by a relaxed afternoon.

Today we were woken by a spoof phone call about ´your Amazon account’ . On hearing the phone we both thought something awful had happened to one of the family. Of course we were then wide awake. This morning is also noticeably lighter with no need for the bedroom light on as we sup our tea. Its cold out there but due to be a fine day so another walk may be on the cards. Its pilates this morning and yoga this evening.

Have a good day all.

We had the frost as well Sue but none this morning.
I shall be in the shed refining my steam valve and then moving into more casting shaping with the governor stand.
I see no reason why I shouldn't have a walk later this morning, I don't need any shopping so it will be pure pleasure and traffic watch!

Morning

My turn to get up to make the brew today, empty the dishwasher etc as it is Bob’s birthday. We have a meal out planned for tonight at a curry place we have not been to before. Its booked for 8 for after I get back from pilates and yoga. I am also out for lunch with my sewing friends. Luckily its always a light lunch so no chance of overeating during the day. I couldn’t go to our January meet up as I was ill, and December was cancelled as others were ill, in November I was in France so its the first time since October .

Yesterday we managed a walk , not too far about 3.5 miles of which much of it was steeply up hill, other than that I moved the plants in the conservatory so we could get to the table and ate lunch out there it was so nice. I even managed to dry my towels outside , there was just sufficient wind. Although cold it was very sunny and a light breeze. I think today’s forecast is much the same though the sunrise was not as spectacular.

Have a good day all

Happy birthday Bob! It's mine next week...... :biggrin2:
I shall be in the shed working on my valve and associated parts. It's a nice stage in the build, you can really see the engine coming together!
I may not get my walk, I will be softening my feet ready for the chiropodist's visit at 13:15. This is a new venture and I shall see how it goes. He is the same man who does the feet at the Thornton Hill care home and Susan has recommended him. She will feel happier with a professional looking after my feet. I hope it all works out!

Morning

Another beautiful dawn in the offing,

Today we are meeting friends, Joan and Eddie, for yet another meal and exchanging Christmas presents. These are the ones we should have met up with on New Years Eve but Wendy and I were both ill. The next date we made for a buffet lunch at home wasJanuary 8 th but Wendy was still ill, so we decided we would all go out for a meal instead and today is the day. It will be at an Italian restaurant in Ringley near Prestwich where Joan and Eddie live. No doubt it will be late afternoon when we get back, hopefully in time for Pilates at 5.30.

I shall be in the shed as usual before 06:00 quietly working on the brass castings for the valve train. Later this morning some light vegetable shopping in the Town Square. Hard to believe that Thursday has come round again so quickly!

The main task today was to fit the retaining bolts to the eccentric strap mark it with witness marks and then split it with a slitting saw. It is now ready for boring but that will have to wait until the eccentric is made. Then I did the first rough fettling of the governor stand/valve rod bracket. This can't be finished until I have the valve fitted and can properly mark the bracket. That's for later. The next job is to turn the eccentric.

Morning

Lovely lunch yesterday and nice meeting Joan and Eddie after all this time, but they looked so frail. It came as a shock. Another couple who have kept out of the way of everyone and never going any where since the start of the pandemic, they have few interests and hardly eat anything. I know Eddie has had a major illness last year, a brain haemorrhage followed by major surgery, and although he has recovered well with no side effects he seems to have lost interest in anything but TV. He was already heading that way before his illness. Joan, an exmodel who reinvented herself as an academic , seems unable to switch off either side of herself. There she is immaculately dressed, and eating like a sparrow , with little general conversation due to her lack of any non political interests other than TV and seems totally unable to just chill out as they say. Wendy and I were concerned about both of them. Joan is the same age as Wendy snd Keith, Eddie is the same age as our other friend Barry who you know has also been very ill but there is no comparison in their love of life and general interests etc the difference since we last saw the couple about a year ago is shocking

Clear blue skies this morning and another nice day in the offing. This morning is Art at Haslingden, this afternoon Maxine is coming for the demo and practice on the machine she is buying from me. No Pilates etc, I am finished for the week. What I used to do in 5 days is now spread over three because of timetable changes to release more time in the studio. I don’t mind as I enjoy all the classes and the teachers are such fun.

Anyway, thats my day. Have a good one

I shall be in the shed as usual working on my engine until 07:00 when I shall go to the Co-op for my weekly early doors shop. I still think it's a good thing to go in while it is quiet. Covid hasn't gone away yet!
I think I shall miss my midday walk and get my exercise during my weekly veggie cook-in!

Morning

I have no plans this morning as Tairas back is still not up to taking a dance exercise class. Instead I shall put on some warm gardening clothes and do a bit of a tidy up in the greenhouse and the garden. I mainly want to clear accumulated rubbish out of the greenhouse and pick up twigs and leaves in the garden. The garden man from Bacup market delivered two roses and two bags of compost yesterday. Its too early to plant the roses but I can tip the compost into the bins I use. He is no longer on the market but operates from home advertising on face book.

Its lunch with Wendy , Keith, Barbara and Bill. We weren’t going to do lunch this Friday as we have had a heavy eating out week, but Wendy and Keith want to try this place with a view to booking it for their 80 th birthdays.

Morning Sue, you could be on a good wicket for gardening if you have the same weather as us. Mind you we have just had a shower of cold rain, that wasn't on the hymn sheet....

Only one image today. I spent my time in the shed measuring for and making the eccentric for the engine. I have marked the PCD of the bore and will drill it tomorrow.
On another matter, the shopping is done and put away. I am ready for veggie cooking later....
I hope you have a good day in the garden.
