It's very hard Gloria. It's the underside of the delivery plate that contains the valves that the water is delivered through. The bore you are looking up is the bore where the pump bucket works. You can see the groooves it has worn in the side over the years.
Here's an air pump delivery plate from the top....
Next one?

Not exactly Tom but I shall give it you you are close enough. It's the front high pressure valve on the Bancroft engine. As I say, near enough and well remembered!

Russia's version of the US Patriot multiple anti-missile system. Also doubles up as an item for the Russian military band. In fact, Putin has just ordered military bands to the war front in Ukraine and that's not a joke - he's done it `to improve morale'. Honestly.

Yes. I wasn’t sure if they were for real.
Aircraft Listening Machines, before WW2.
Gosh what contraptions they were.

We had the same thing on Romney Marsh Cathy but made of concrete. They focussed the sound on a central point and had a microphone there. We called them sound mirrors....

Is it a daguerreotype image?

No, nothing to do with the pic itself - although it isn't the best quality!

Concentrate on the object.
