It certainly does Tizer, I find pilates then yoga session is a good combo. I really notice the difference when we have been in France with no classes.

The funeral was OK, less stressful than I expected, but very sad. Nice to chat to old colleagues however. Linda had a tough time over the last couple of years. Needless to say, Peter, her husband is devastated but I his daughter, who looks so like Linda these days, has been a great support

I'm glad the funeral was not as bad as you thought Sue.
I shall be in the shed as usual. I had my walk and a sit yesterday, never saw the rain. Today our rain should have stopped by then so we shall see when the time comes.
Following the renewal of the carpet in the lobby of the shed I shall call in at the carpet shop and choose the carpet for the renewal in the sitting half of my kitchen. It was a second hand carpet when it went down 25 years ago so it's about time for an upgrade. I had been hoping it would see me out but it appears I am living longer than expected so I have bitten the bullet!

Morning

We had a very brief light shower of rain yesterday, it hardly wet the ground. I think today is a little more. There is no art this morning as it is half term in Haslingden. Instead I am going to Maxines as I could not go yesterday because of the funeral. This afternoon our friend Kath is coming over for a coffee and a natter, and sometime during the day the man is coming to replace the burglar alarm sensor in the lounge.

Thats it, have a good day aii.

Main job was checking the throw of the eccentric and adjusting the length of the valve rod before starting to finish the governor stand and rod support. The latter is a bugger as there are no easy ways to set it up. It had to be done by rack of the eye and my eyes aren't very good! But I think I have got it somewhere near. Fitting is tomorrow.
The new carpet in the shed is brilliant and makes a lot of difference as it feels cushioned underfoot. Lovely!
Later this morning I will go and choose carpet for refreshing the kitchen.... :biggrin2:

I've had my walk and a light veggie shop. At the same time I chose a nice Burgundy carpet for my kitchen. I was told my office chair would sink in to it. I shall chance it!

Oo I like burgundy. We had that in my sewing room when it was a sitting room but we changed it for wood laminate because it is easier for me to clean up bits of thread etc. We gave the carpet to Claire for the nursery bedroom when Erin was born. That was Claire’s first house, which has recently resold. I saw from the photos online the carpet was still there.

The burgundy carpet was chosen by my Susan almost 40 years ago for her house in Bovingdon and when she had her divorce and I flit her we stripped the house because it was being repossessed. It carpeted all my house in Barlick and has done well for the last 25 years and I hoped it would last until I died but evidently not so I have bit the bullet! Here's the new carpet in the shed entrance, sheer luxury!

I shall be in the shed as usual, then early doors shopping at 07:00 and after that most likely a veggie cooking session instead of a walk......

I feel like a bit of a traitor this morning because for some reason I have decided I want a morning off from Shed duties. So I am sat here listening to the news and drinking tea. They can't touch you for it! :biggrin2:

Morning

Sometimes a change is as good as a rest Stanley.

Today is u3a art at Todmorden . I am demonstrating a technique that my Monday night teacher Roesmary, used a lot, another person sadly missed. I no longer go to that class as we were unable to replace her after she died. Anyway, back to today. On the way to Tod we shall call at Bacup market for meat and veg for next week. We can’t go tomorrow as we will be on our way to Coventry to pick up B who is coming to stay for a few days as its half term next week. Being Friday, after art it is lunch with Wendy and Keith at the Italian restaurant at Hollingworth Lake.

Have a good day all

That's what I thought Sue. I have done the shopping and put it away and now I shall make my breakfast before second sleep.

Later... I didn't go for a walk even though it brightened up, I stuck to the plan and did the cooking. Almost all done now, just a bit left for tomorrow with the chicken. That's that finished for another week! :biggrin2:

I shall be more productive this morning and do an hour on my engine after putting my Four Hour chicken in to roast. :biggrin2:
I have a cabbage to cook as well but that's it for the veggies, I can do that after my sleep.
Could be dry at midday so a walk and a sit look likely.

A small job, install the two 5BA studs that bolt the governor stand to the engine. Fit the stand, mark the position of the studs and drill and tap for them. I have fitted the studs with Loctite and will mount the bracket tomorrow. It will have to be dismounted from the valve rod to line the studs up. Could be more difficult than it looks so I'll attack that tomorrow....

I wish to register a complaint! I went to the Town Square thinking that would be a good place to get a meat pie as it is the venue for the World Meat Pie Competition. Forget it! Not a pie in sight and only after enquiring did I find that it was in the pensioner's centre and was being judged at noon. However the lady that told me this said that when she took hers in at 10:00 to enter it it was the only meat pie, all the others were vegetarian.
So I got a pie from Babs at Barlic Bites.....

Complaint noted.

We live in interesting times indeed. The "World Meat Pie Competition" held of course in Barnoldswick, has no meat pies.

Has anyone cleared this with the Wigan folk?

I think they have some claims in the matter. Pie Barm

.
You can only buy meat pies if you are wearing a flat ratting cap and banding chord holding your trousers up. Braces are OK for Sundays but only with a collar and tie.

Didn't David Whipp win the meat pie competition with a vegetarian pie? :laugh5:

Miles Hutchinson's Pie Shop on Newtown is a very good choice. Pies are prepared daily.

I knew that Kev but don't buy his pies because they are too expensive. Perhaps they are the reason Ian doesn't believe you can get a pie for a pound......
I shall have my usual hour in the shed. I'm getting very close to finishing this engine. I shall have to order another set of castings very soon.
Weather looks OK at midday so I expect to have a walk and perhaps a sit.
Later.... domestic matters interfered with the shed. Never mind, there's no rush and plenty of time!

Morning

We made good time yesterday, had a good day and were back by 9.30 last night. Today we are having breakfast in Healey Dell tea rooms, followed by a walk to the waterfalls and the lodge. Then we will pop a casserole in the slow cooker and go over to Claires in Preston for a couple of hours. We shall be delivering Erin and Claires birthday presents. Although their birthdays are the first week in March we are going to be rather busy before then.

Have a good day all

Indeed, we frequent a proper pie maker just like we use a proper milkman and for the same reasons.

If you're looking at this and can't see any difference from the last image I can't blame you. The difference is that the governor stand is now bolted to the bed and the valve train is connected. It has taken an hour and a half of fitting by effecting tiny adjustments to get here. The engine can be laced up now and declared finished. That is after one or two more little fitting jobs but none of them as finnicky or difficult as today.
