No time for walking here either, one visitor left us yesterday and two more arrive today till Sunday. Bed changing, quick clean around the house then some food prep.

Busy busy both of you!



Today I start the task of converting two lumps of scrap into two crankshaft blanks 5" X 2", faced and centred at both ends and eventually with the PCD of the crank pin centre marked on one end. So, routine turning and ending with a chip chase so I can have a clean start tomorrow. A nice hour and a quarter and the scrap shaft turns out to be good metal which is nice.....

I have been for my walk and had a pleasant sit in the sun with a £1 pork pie from Barlic Bites for a treat. A lot of heat in the sun. I did a light veggie shop for peppers and tomatoes. Plenty available. Gulam apologised for the price of the tomatoes but I told him I had no objection to paying the economic price for produce as long as the grower was getting the benefit. We are going to have to get used to this and the sooner the supermarkets stop trying to protect their customers and pay a fair price, the sooner their shelves will fill up again!

I shall do an hour in the shed in pursuit of the next crankshaft and then do early doors shop at the Co-op. I shall report back on the veggie front..... I did some veggie shopping at Chaudrey's over the last couple of days and am confident I shall have enough for my usual Friday veggie cook-in. Apart from that, watching for news of Katie's operation from Oz......

Morning

I shall be sewing this morning making a few craft bits and pieces that I have promised my friend for the church Easter craft fayre. Then its lunch at the Italian by the lake with Wendy, Keith, Barbara and Bill. I shall only be having a starter or a snack as this evening I am out with my pilates group at a Bistro in town

My castings were delivered from Stuarts yesterday but today I carried on turning my two billets of scrap shafting into reasonably sized blanks for two engine shafts. (That's right I shall make two, I am an optimist!) I finished one of them this morning and cleaned up my chips ready for a clean start tomorrow.

I'm deep into veggie cooking and my energy monitor tells me the leccy is costing 80p/hr. No matter... it has to be done!Probably an hour to go.....

Later..... That's it. 4 pans of veggies cooked and cooling on the hob before going in the fridge. I shall cook my chicken tomorrow morning.... Not a wasted day. Now for tea and TV...

I shall start my chicken off in the small oven with it's stuffing of hot spicy wings and accompanying peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes. Then into the shed for an hour before breakfast. After second sleep the chicken will be taken out, basted and browned and when It's done it's four hours I shall distribute the roast veggies and gravy amongst my four pans of veggies in the fridge. That means I am cooked up and ready for the week..... (I might get a walk and a sit in later....there is no rain in the forecast.)
Later at 05:30. The chicken and it's companions are in the oven. In 4 hours it will be perfect.....
I know many would say that 4 hours cooking time for a chicken is far too much. They should try it! I guarantee my chicken will be more juicy and tasty than theirs......

Simple reduction of the second billet to an acceptable stock size. Most of the excess taken off and a quick clean up of the lathe and the floor. A quiet and productive hour and a half. Quietly forward.

Morning

Good day yesterday, good meals, good company. Today will be more normal. Bacup market this morning, more craft sewing this afternoon, perhaps a walk, perhaps some gardening. The paths and patio could do with a clean. U3a Wine appreciation this evening, with a talk by my sister on Rueda wines from Spain. Jane is an ambassador for the wines this year, having visited the vineyards amongst other things

I've had a short walk and posted my letter. Time for light lunch and then very little beyond passing time.
My blow for the local economy is a new carpet in the living half of the kitchen. That will happen on Monday afternoon.

I shall have my usual hour or so in the shed chasing crankshafts. After my sleep I shall do a bit of preparation for making room in the kitchen for Liam the carpet fitter to operate tomorrow. I shall be glad when he's finished and I am back to normal. When he was measuring up he looked with dismay at the dresser loaded with books and engines etc. I told him not to worry, we aren't moving it, we'll cut across the front of it. When I die and they clear the house they can deal with things like that, the cobwebs won't bother me!
(Same applies to the fridge as well. My experience teaches that when you move an old fridge you often have to suffer the consequences of disturbing any sediment there is in the system. Again, I can live with the cobwebs!)

A nice hour and a half. I finished preparing the second crankshaft blank, cleaned the lathe and unpacked the castings and parts from Stuarts.

Sunday, cooked breakfast, changing and washing the bedding, ironing, finishing off my craft sewing, and finally off to Preston for tea with Claire, Adam and Erin. The main purpose of the visit to deliver Julias birthday present ( in secret) for Erin.

Not been on here recently, just moved, haven’t stopped shifting stuff and emptying boxes. Wi-Fi yet to be sorted and going away. I will be back, I have not disappeared.

I hadn't forgotten you Gloria.... I hope it goes as smoothly as possible, but all flittings are an upset!
I have my own minor upset this morning. After my hour in the shed and second sleep I have to get the kitchen ready for Liam the carpet fitter to come and do his magic. The cooking end of the kitchen is vinyl floor covering but the 'living' end is carpet. The carpet is going today and a new piece going down. This involves shifting all my stuff out of the living end and that includes dismantling the computer etc. The kids are coming to help me so I shall include bed changing and Hoovering in the upset. I shall be glad when I get straight again.
