I love Kaffe Fasset's designs and still enjoy looking at my book of his patterns. I have done a tapestry cushion cover based on one of his patterns and once got half way through a small cardigan which was very complicated, using many different textures and colours. I can't remember why I gave up on it but the remains are still in a bag somewhere! A costly business!

You were braver than me Wendy. I never had the confidence. I have a u3a friend Jean who knits them such fabulous patterns. Here is a coincidence, I met Jean in 2007, and discovered she taught me during my FE teacher training in 1980. We remembered each other !

Excellent exhibition but not about his knitting. It was quilts and tapestry, the exhibition was spread throughout the castle and technically not free as you had to pay for castle entrance . Wendy struggled as there was no disabled access and had to manipulate stairs with her walking sticks

I have passed that report on to Susan sue.
Today, more quiet work on my engine castings and once more almost certainly a walk at midday as the forecast is good again.

Oh yes we thought the heron has eaten all our goldfish last summer when we were in France. Yesterday evening I counted 7 swimming round the pond . It was a pleasant surprise

Give Bob my commiserations on the wheel.... That was a nice surprise, finding your goldfish had survived not only winter but the heron!

This morning I carried on fitting the lids and cylinder to the bed casting. All the basics are done, what is left is refinement and that can come later. The next move is to pull all this back and work on the fitting of the steam chest, lid and valve. I might have a rest from fitting and make a piston and rod.

First job was to dismantle the cylinder to get it stripped bare because this morning is going to be steam chest studs. I drilled the lid for tapping size 4BA and used it as a template for the other holes..... I finished up after an hour and a quarter with all six studs fitted and ready for fitting the chest and the lid.

We had that drizzle all day Sue....
I shall be in the shed working on my cylinder casting. Then a repeat of last week, I shall do most of my veggies shopping at Chaudrey's in the Square, the Co-op greengrocery stocks have been dire lately.
Amazing how fast the week goes......

This morning was routine, I had to open up the drillings in the lid and steam chest so that they could be fitted. However, the best laid schemes of mice and men.... You might notice a brass stud in one of the holes in the cylinder. This is because My eyes had let me down and one stud was out of place so I have plugged it with a brass stud and marked the correct position. Tomorrow I shall drill and tap it and see if I have cured it....

Morning

Yes drizzle all day yesterday and more today. The alarm engineer came and worked a couple of hours putting new cables in, but last night the alarm went off again . Bob has just had a thought that the wifi router may be interfering with the alarm sensor in the lounge. They are positioned only inches from each other and the problem started when we changed the router in December. It wasn’t a day for success as my session with Maxine was cancelled as her autoimmune problem flared up leaving her with a swollen face and eye. She did however show me how to adjust the pattern I had left with her when we went to France so I spent the afternoon doing that.

This morning we are of to Burnley market, this afternoon Bob is fetching his new tyre and I will cut out the toile for my summer dress, having now adjusted the pattern.

Have a good day all

If Bob's right it makes the alarm engineers look a bit silly...... You'd think they'd know.

Is there room to put a bit of tin foil between the router and the sensor to see if it stops any RF interference? It would certainly identify the problem if it did. Newer routers use 5ghz, as well as 2.4ghz ranges so potentially your old router was only 2.4 and it's the 5 that's doing it.

Many 'high performance' tyres can't be repaired by the normal 'plug and patch' typical of ordinary tyres. Side wall and near minimum tread repairs are also out. Bad luck when you see the price of a new tyre,

Dare I say that the flare up of some autoimmune problems seems to coincide with the number of 'booster' vaccines that people have taken up. I'm not saying that there is a direct correlation but the spring booster is limited to 75 +years and a minority of immune deficient conditions. Nobody is saying 'why' which I find very odd.

Probably the cost involved to give it to everyone, same as the flu jab. I would imagine there may be the option to pay for one at some point, same as the flu jab. The older generation and those with a compromised immune system are at risk of greater impact from any 'disease' to be fair.

Thanks, its an idea. Bob had thought of it. The other possibility is to either move the router ( mounted on a shelf in the hall behind the lounge door) or move the sensor further down the wall.

Yes the tyre will be expensive!

The flare up is nothing to do with vaccinations. She has lived with this condition all her life and is under constant Consultant care. Her immune system is basically Kaput. She shielded for nearly 18 months as did my brother. No-one has ever identified the reason for her problem except it is auto immune . Maxine had traditional vaccines due to uncertainty at the time about reactions to the new ones. Her last booster was October, same as mine

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour with me castings and then at 07:00 off to the Cathedral of Choice for early doors weekly shop. Most of the veggies bought in the square yesterday but still some odds and sods needed. I shall not be cooking veggies today, I went overboard rather last week so that can wait until tomorrow. So.... a midday walk and sit in the sun is indicated I think.

Morning

It turned out a lovely day yesterday after a drizzly start. After our trip to Burnley we both spend time gardening. I tidied the greenhouse and moved my pots of geraniums out of the conservatory in to the greenhouse. We now have space to sit and to eat in the conservatory. We normally eat breakfast and lunch in there from about now till October.

Today we are out for lunch with Wendy and Keith at the Italian, depending on the weather, which should be ok , we may combine it with a walk.

Have a good day all

I have sorted the errant stud out. See shed matters for the details. I've also done the weekly shopping and put it all away. Good job I shopped for veggies in the Town Square yesterday, the veggie offering in the Co-op was, once again, dire.

I did an Aldi run this morning, noticed they have a full range of veg, nothing looks to be in short supply down there.

I'm on my way there now from Helifield, traffic is horrendous. Where's everyone going? Anyone would think it's a bank holiday weekend :biggrin2:

Plenty of fruit and veg left in Aldi, looks like a recent delivery as the salad items have the 15th as a 'use by' date on them. Got an iceberg lettuce, cucumber, baby plum tomatoes and spring onions for Monday's tapas tea.
