I managed to stay awake through it! It was enjoyable but hard to work out exactly where they were as the editing had them jumping about all over the place. Nice to see Heather Procter from Earby walking the ladies along a stretch of the Pennine Way around the drumlins and the Bancroft engine looked magnificent. We had a quick glimpse at the modern equipment inside County Brook Mill and a chat with Mr Mitchell.

It's been interesting, pity it's ended, at least I think it has. I'd have thought they'd have done Queen St mill and the Weavers Triangle, but I suppose they've been done a lot.. Pete Waterman was like a kid in a candy shop at Barnoldswick.

Gloria I think the series continues on a different canal, not sure if it's the same celebs. Must say that I warmed to Pete Waterman.

I liked Pete Waterman in it, thought he contributed very well, I thought Bill Oddie was a bit like a spare part.

I agree with Wendy about the continuity editing, all over. At one time they were in Bank Newton and in "Bronte Country", according to one of them. Finally through the lock after a major cock up, they missed the double arch bridge which was worth a mention and the whole of Greenberfield to get them on the top length. I agree that Bill was a bit of a spare part looking like he was away with the fairies occasionally.

Most people know Pete Waterman is a keen railway modeller but he also has involvement in many real railway projects, as detailed here: Railways We've recorded the episode and look forward to seeing more of the locality as well as the canal!

It does carry on, next week they are all on the Forth and Clyde canal.

I too was thrown a bit by the Bronte references including Gargrave. The old mistake about Bancroft being 'the last' working mill engine in Lancashire was far out. But I enjoyed the aerial views and they should have spoken to us first. Mind you some of my pics got an airing in the Bancroft slot, no sign of the squillions they agreed to pay for using them......
For all that I sat and watched it without too much pain and at least Jenny Bond stopped talking about 'driving' the boat!
Then I watched the C4 programme on Acid Raine and Diana.....

I have saved last night's Endeavour for tonight......

We watched Last Tango in Halifax and wished we hadn't bothered, I think they should have let it lie.

I agree Wendy, if we hadn't watched the others we wouldn't be watching any more of this series, it's going to have to buck up.

Endeavour was good, a lot of loose ends tied up and some new ones created.... Very watchable.

Griff’s trip around our Barossa Valley ( wine county) meeting the locals and tasting their fare is very good.

Just flipped channels and found Michael Portillo sat on a bench outside the Clarion House having a natter with someone. Nice.

Not sure about his taste in jackets and trousers though.

I was watching a re-run of Morse a few days back, I could not work out when the series filmed I think in the early 1990s was meant to be set, I thought it was generally contemporary to the time of filming (which would make it around 18 to 20 years after the Endeavour Episode if that was just into (? pre-decimal? 1970s)). However there was a street shot of Cornmarket (street) and the double deck buses would have been no later than 1985 ( they changed livery and fleetnames just after 1983ish when I left Oxford where I had been working in the Bus Industry for a short time ). However I did not in the Endeavour Episode that the character is starting to age into a more Morse-like appearence.

In my forays on to Youtube I come across strange and unfamiliar things. Last night I sat there for a long time watching a man wreck fishing from a 16ft boat at sea and he was playing a 35lb fish. I couldn't stop watching it! He got it in the boat in the end and it was enormous. Then he hooked a blue fin Tuna, it took him two hours and ten minutes to get that to the boat. He let it recover and released it. Luckily the video was edited down.....
I can understand]d why people get hooked on that sort of fishing.....

Just seen an interview with Shirley Ann Fields on Talking Pictures TV (Ch 306) on Freesat. She was brought up in childrens' orphanages in Bolton and Blackburn which is why her Lancashire accent is faultless. She's about 84 now, and there is evidence of 'face tampering' - but all very interesting from a very impressive strong lady.

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning was on yesterday.

The main character's name is Stanley Windrush. It was filmed in 1956. I wonder why that name was chosen, and if there is any connection with the ship. it's the same character he played in' I'm all right Jack '.

Is that the one where they volunteered for circumcision in the army? One of my mates volunteered for that skive in Berlin in 1955. Funnily enough he came back with a fractured skull after diving into a shallow swimming pool..... (I'd forgotten all about that until you reminded me!) I've looked it up and that was the same year they made the film, released in 1956 so we were in front of the curve.

Looking forward to watching the celebrity bargees going on the Falkirk Wheel tonight. Did you see the Kelpies on last week's programme? Made me cry.

I forgot that was on. I'll catch up tonight. In bed early again, I think I'm getting older!

Race Across the World on now BBC 2. I enjoyed the last series in Asia. This time they are in South America. It's different, and it's not a quiz or Strictly.

Glad we stuck with it, it's got better with every episode, nearly series end now.
