Sorted now but I think your captcha questions need to be less Barlick specific. Not easy to answer to a non barlicker

Good stuff, glad to hear you're sorted. To be honest I've struggled with some of the captcha questions in the past

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Lovely to see Sue is in better condition now.
I am hoping to have a more normal day today as the Firestick has been consigned to the bottom drawer where all defunct electronics end up.
I shall be in the shed making lids this morning after putting my chicken in the oven. Later today I may get a trip up to Letcliffe in Susan's new mobile home for a cup of tea..... Last I heard they were going to Huddersfield to pick it
up after handing over the house in Earby..... So, could be a red letter day....

Morning
All good here today…Thanks Kev. Apart from the logging in trauma yesterday the day passed peacefully, sewing and socialising. The extra fabric came for my dress so I should now be able to finish it which will complete my present sewing tasks. If it ever stops raining I just have the garden to cut back and tidy up a bit before we go to France on the 17 th.
This morning is Bacup market and apart from the dress sewing I have no plans. Have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue, I hope you have a dry market at Bacup.....

I was looking forward to a pleasant morning in the shed working on the lids. I decided to refine the finish on the cylinder by marking it up for orientation, essential during the next stages. I touched up my milling cutter first and then set to. I skimmed the valve face with a fly cutter to get a dead flat surface. I decided to use the fly cutter on the steam chest lid as well and that was a big mistake because the corners of the lid are chilled and it played hell with the single point cutter. However, I persevered and after an hour and a quarter in the shed I was rubbing the lid down on a sheet of emery. That's as good as it's going to get. I shall finish the other surfaces tomorrow.

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 working on my castings. I doubt if I shall be walking later because we have rain forecast. I am expecting a visit from Susan and Mick in their new mobile home, they have started their great adventure, leading a nomadic life.

I finished the lid and moved on to the steam chest. First I cleaned up the interior by hand using a file and then moved on to refining the body under the mill. Thankfully, there are no cold shops in this! Good progress and I will continue with it tomorrow morning.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Good day yesterday, we even managed a walk. It was not strikingly good weather and we had to wait till the rain stopped for our walk, so I finished my dress in the morning. It was actually drier in Bacup than at home. After our walk I did some dead heading and a bit of cutting back and whilst doing that i noticed that a 4 feet tall old tree stump had collapsed.
We had a bird table on top of it and in recent years a wonderful clematis draped over it. I do believe Wendy used a photo of the clematis in flower to make a digital jigsaw. Anyway we had to cut the horizontal trunk out of the clematis, not an easy task. We then put supporting wires across the fence and managed to haul up the plant and secure it to the wires. It doesn’t look the best but when it flowers it should look ok
Today will be bed changing, a bit of ironing and more garden tidying. Bob is off to the park but coming home early as we are off to Claires in Preston for tea. Have a good day all.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Our forecast yesterday was rubbish Sue. We were promised rain but had a dry day! Today is much the same, we shall have to see how it works out. So, all that I am certain about is that I shall be in the shed at 06:00 working on my castings. That and breakfast followed by second sleep will make for a sensible start to the day. What happens after that depends on the weather.

I finished milling the steam chest casting this morning, marked it and its lid with witness marks and had a chip chase. Tomorrow we move forward into the bed castings.

We had occasional light showers with a cold strong wind. I did get my washing dry though some had to be retrieved from the garden pond and rewashed and one sheet blew off the line with pegs still attached and wrapped itself round the patio cherry tree. We had a lovely afternoon at Claires where the weather was no better except there was no rain. I spent some hours in the garden and now it is all cut back and looking tidier I can see the new plants coming up. The brown bin is full to the brim so the last couple of shrubs that need pruning will have to wait till after Thursday bin day.
Today is pilates this morning and yoga at tea time. I intend spending the day cleaning my sewing room thoroughly. It accumulates a lot of dust and fluff because of all the fabric. As its due to be a cool day it seems like a good day to do it. Have a good day all.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Awake early to try and get that elusive GP appointment online and I was SUCCESSFUL at last and with my own GP. We also have to be up early as the roofers are coming to strip off one side of the roof where we have a major leak. Our neighbour noticed it a couple of weeks, another neighbour is a roofer and he has agreed to do it this week. The forecast for the next few days is drier than expected so fingers crossed.
Yesterday it rained until well into the afternoon so between pilates and yoga I managed a much needed 3 hour full spring clean of my sewing room. A number of unfinished projects went in the bin leaving me with scraps of fabric to sort. Big pieces I keep for other projects, small pieces I throw away. Thats a task for the next rainy day.
Today therefore its GP phone call before 9.00, lunch with my sewing friends, and pilates and yoga at the studio at 5.15.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Glad you got your appointment Sue and yes, the 6 day forecast is dry so good for the roofers. Have a good day and I hope your GP appointment answers some of your questions!

More work on the cylinder. First I cut the exhaust port in the valve face, then drilled the exhaust port and threaded it to accept the exhaust pipe, 1/4" X 32tpi. Last job was to sharpen the milling cutter and replace it in the mill ready for the next phase of milling castings. A productive hour and a quarter! Now for breakfast....

Yesterday was a day of totally draining the central heating system. We suffered a corroded pipe with black gooey water oozing out onto the floor. Fortunately this was in an entrance passageway so other than work to get to the pipes and replacement vinyl no real damage was done. Plumbing repair done by Johnathan from Barlick. 'excellent'.
A report on the work will be posted in the 'Bits and pieces odd jobs. .... when I've finished ... sometime.

Excellent chat with the GP, very sympathetic to the problems and given me prescriptions and lots of good advice. He wants me to contact him when we get back from France . I explained that it has taken me nearly three weeks to get this advice and that I had to try and resolve the issues by myself, the result being that the problem got worse as I could not increase current medication without GP saying so. Of course its not his fault but he was very apologetic .

I forgot Eve is off to S Korea today for the International Children's Games. She is in the Coventry team swimming distance events. E is going as well, to be there but not with her. He will watch and sight see.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
There's a switch - top right- which translates to English.
Makes me think of the people who say - usually after rioting - there's nothing for the young people to do - it's the Tory cuts.
With good parenting - there is.
It also strengthens my thought that we are becoming the third world now.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Yes - I realised that after I'd posted. I tend to 'post from the hip'.
I was thinking that 'here is another city that I've never heard of and it looks wonderful'. I was mentally comparing it to say Middlesborough or Barrow, the minor streets of which which I saw in some detail yesterday. I took a wrong turn in Burnley once - not a good experience.
I'm still in some shock after the Singapore video on the 'Can I recommend' thread.
PS - I think I just remembered something else - no offence intended . . .
Well done to your family on the swimming - tremendous achievment.
