And as we are expecting this high pressure to persist for a while you have a good chance of a nice break but I predict you won't be skinny dipping in the river, could be a bit more wind from Tuesday onwards. Say what you like, this is Autumn weather and winter is coming!
Yesterday was exactly as per the forecast, sunny in the morning but overcast in the afternoon, cool all day. First thing this morning it was calm, cool and overcast. I have just had my morning walk and it is still cool calm and overcast but there is clear sky out to the east. The glass is up slightly on 1017mb. The forecast is the same as yesterday, a sunny morning but cloudy this afternoon. The wind is very light all day. It starts in the NE but at noon backs to SSW and stays like that for the rest of the day giving a high of 16C and a low of 10C with only a slight chill.
The outlook is for similar weather but increasingly likely is an increase in the wind and an occasional shower.

I'll lay Lincoln Odds that there will be a local woman wild swimmer who comes to the pool below the force nearly every day for a dip. She was there last year towards the end of September and swims all year round at one venue or another. Some folk are built that way.

But not us Ian!
Yesterday afternoon was brighter and the sun had real power in it. Looking at how some were clothed I felt definitely over-dressed but I was comfortable. At 20:00 it was calm and dry with broken cloud. First thing this morning calm, clear sky with stars and cool. I've just popped out and no change. The glass is steady on 1017mb. The forecast is essentially the same as yesterday, sunny at first and then clouding later. The wind is light all day starting as SE but at noon backing to SW and bringing the cloud in. The high is 17C and the low 11C with a slight wind chill this afternoon. A touch warmer that yesterday on the whole, the heating isn't on this morning. There could be a bit of rain tomorrow afternoon but otherwise the outlook is for similar settled weather for the next week.
05:25. A pleasant walk on the first day of September. Calm, cool and a clear sky with good dawn light in the East. Feels autumnal and I noticed deep purple bird droppings for the first time this year. I always think it's one of the first signs of Autumn as the birds are eating some sort of purple berries. Looks good for early sun.

Bilberries for the bird poo. Not hard to work a sweat up on the walk yesterday up Esp Lane and Hollins.

CH thought so as well Ian. Never came on yesterday.
It was a nice day yesterday and in old money it was 70F in the shade in the back yard. At 20:00 it was dry, almost calms and a clearing sky. This morning first thing we had a full moon in an almost clear sky but with some very high thin cloud. Calm and cool. It's still the same but a hint of more cloud coming in. The glass is down a touch on 1014mb. The forecast is for it to be bright overcast this morning with light showers possible this afternoon but with some broken cloud. The constant southerly wind starts light and becomes moderate as the day goes on giving a high of 16C and a low of 14C with as much as a -3C chill this afternoon. The outlook is for similar weather but cooling and with a chance of a light shower of rain every day.
05:35. A pleasant walk on a cool but not cold morning. There's a light breeze and the sky is largely clear still, some high thin cloud but good dawn light coming in from the East. The full moon has gone AWOL and set in the west.

Significant rain from noon onwards and all through the night. Still raining this morning. The glass is down again on 1004mb. The forecast is for the rain to persist until dawn and then give way to bright overcast and some sunny spells. The constant SW wind will be moderate and gust to 30mph giving a high of 16C and a low of 11C with a -3C wind chill. The outlook is for cooler weather over the weekend but mainly dry. Could warm slightly next week but not much.
05:30. Not a nice walk, fine wetting rain blown on a gusty wind is the sort that soaks you in no time. Not cold, but not an inviting morning!
Listening to the Shipping Forecast the cause of our woes at the moment is a large area of low pressure to the south of Iceland which is drifting eastwards albeit very slowly. we shan't see any improvement until it is well out in the North Sea.

Second walk, it's stopped raining and I note that the leaves of the trees on the Green are showing the very first signs of changing colour.

I had an almost dry afternoon walk yesterday, enough fine rain in the air to make you aware of it. At 20:00 it was calm, cool and dry. First thing this morning we had scattered large clouds but lots of clear sky with stars and moonlight. Just looked out, still calm, much clearer with a brilliant moon. The glass has risen to 1012mb, the low must be moving away to the east over the North Sea. The forecast is for an overcast morning changing to sunny spells and light showers this afternoon. The constant WSW wind is moderate and gives a high of 14C and a low of 10C with a -3C wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather, nothing to frighten the horses but not Indian summer. Could be a bit cooler tomorrow.
05:30. A pleasant dry walk, light breeze, increasing cloud coming in fro the west but dry and not cold. very Quiet.

Yesterday managed to stay dry, but only just. At 20:00 it was cool with a light breeze but dry. First thing this morning it was dry, overcast and a light breeze. I have just had my early walk, it's started raining, I didn't bother with a waterproof but by the time I got back home water was running in the gutters. The glass is steady on 1013mb. The forecast is for a mixed day of sunshine and showers, the overcast gets heavier and more rain by this evening. The constant westerly air flow tends to the north at times giving a high of 13C and a low of 10C with up to -3C wind chill resulting in the perceived temperature being in single figures all day. No great change in the outlook, possibly a tad warmer but we will see our share of showers into next week.
Thinking about Ian and Sally, I hope they are having better weather up the dale!

I had a dry afternoon walk but only just, significant rain came in for a few hours. At 20:00 it was breezy, cool and dry but only just. First thing this morning we had a clear sky and brilliant moonlight but since then it has clouded over and started to rain. The glass is up slightly and steady on 1014mb. The forecast is for this short spell of rain we are having at the moment to cease, a cloudy but dry morning and then occasional light showers and perhaps the odd sunny interval this afternoon. The very light WSW wind will change to WNW after noon and give a high of 15C and a low of 10C with only a slight wind chill of -1C. The outlook is for similar unexciting weather for the foreseeable future.
05:40. Back from an early walk on a cool morning, the CH is on. We have 100% overcast and very light rain, this morning I put my waterproof on! Only items of of interest were the rooks on the Green having a big conversation and a large pool of vomit on the pavement near the Green, Sunday morning is never boring if you look hard enough!

Yesterday afternoon was quite pleasant and at 20:00 it was still dry with very little wind but cool. First thing this morning we had an almost clear sky with a good moon and stars obscured occasionally by light high cloud. Calm and cool. I've just popped out and no change. The glass is up slightly on just short of 1017mb. The forecast is for a day of cloud and occasional showers starting at about 07:00. The constant WSW wind starts light but increases during the day and later could gust to 30mph giving a high of 14C and a low of 14C with up to -3C wind chill. The outlook is for the same, could be a touch warmer tomorrow and the day after but then dropping back again to today's levels. Nothing exciting either way.
05:25. A quiet dry walk. The sky still has some high thin cloud but it is increasing. Only a light wind as yet and quite pleasant out there.

I was lucky and had a dry walk in the afternoon but later it rained steadily. At 20:00 it was dry but only just. First thing this morning it was damp, cool and cloudy with only a light wind. It's still the same. The glass is almost unchanged on 1016mb after falling a bit more yesterday. The forecast is depressingly simple. Fog/mist/low cloud until noon and heavy overcast thereafter! The wind is a constant moderate WSW giving a high of 17C and a low of 14C with up to -3C chill when the wind is strongest. There's a chance of a light shower later in the afternoon. Exciting stuff!
The outlook is for similar temperatures but brighter and drier.
05:10. Back after a short walk. 100% overcast, a trace of mist in the air and a light mild west wind. Main thing I noticed was that my back is normal. I'm walking with no pain and breathing well. This is encouraging!

No sign of the fog they forecast, it must have been a west coast forecast, it was mild and pleasant in the afternoon and the sun almost broke through the overcast. At 20:00 it was calm cool and dry. First thing this morning we had a mild morning with light rain and hardly any breeze, it's still the same now. The glass is down slightly on 1014mb. The forecast is for the rain to cease in the next couple of hours and we can expect a bright sunny day. The constant moderate WSW breeze with gusts later to 30mph will shift to WNW at about the same time as the rain stops and this gives a high of 15C and a low of 7C tonight with a wind chill of as much as -4C when the wind is at its strongest.
The outlook is for similar weather but slightly warmer. Not Indian summer!
05:20. Back from my early walk. As promised the rain is fading away, no breaks in the cloud yet, very light mild breeze still. I've had worse walks at this time of year! Here's hoping we get the promised sun.

We were lucky then Wendy, the low cloud never got down to us. Brightening up nicely now, the forecast of sun could be correct!
Twenty minutes later, the sun has put his hat on. Nice change!

A pleasant afternoon and at 20:00 the sky was clearing. First thing this morning a totally clear sky, calm and almost chilly, certainly down in single figures. I've just looked outside and no change yet. The glass is up on 1021mb. The forecast is for a dry day, sunny intervals this morning and a bit more cloud this afternoon. The SW wind is light and constant giving a high 0f 14C and a low of 10C with a wind chill of -2C. Similar weather for the next two days and then a noticeable warming up from Sunday onwards. Don't get too excited but temperatures forecast to get into the 20s!
05:05. Back from an early walk on a crisp morning. It's about 7C and calm, the air is like wine, it's a pleasure to take a deep breath. We are so lucky in that respect in Barlick.
What got my attention? There's more traffic about than previously, I have noticed the number of cars increasing slowly. I had a look at the fountain and what they were doing yesterday was stripping the turf off and compacting the sub strata, it looks as though they are preparing to pave round it.

Cloudy but dry afternoon yesterday, on the cool side. At 20:00 it was calm, overcast and dry. Same first thing this morning and so far no change. The glass has fallen to 1010mb. The forecast is for an overcast morning with possible light rain showers this afternoon. The constant SW wind is moderate and could gust to 35mph midday. The high will be 15C and the low 10C with a wind chill of as much as -4C later. The outlook is still for a cool day tomorrow and then warmer weather, into the 20s for next week.
05:15. Back from a quiet pleasant walk. Light wind, cool, dry and very quiet. What's not to like?

A very quiet unexciting day yesterday but it was dry! At 20:00 it was overcast and raining. First thing this morning the flags were damp but no rain, just overcast and a light cool wind. I've had my early walk and we have overcast and and a light cool breeze but no rain despite it being forecast. The glass is down a touch on 1008mb but I suspect it's rising. The forecast is for sunny intervals all day with a chance of a light shower mid-morning. The constant SW wind is moderate to brisk, gusting to about 35mph around midday. It gives a high of 15C and a low of 12C with a -2C wind chill for most of the day. Tomorrow it will be warmer and after that we are promised some unseasonably warm weather for a few days, could be Indian Summer!

Yesterday afternoon was very pleasant and at 20:00 it was dry, overcast and a noticeably brisk wind. Same first thing this morning, unusual for first thing, it's usually calm. Still the same. The glass is up on 1013mb and rising I think. The forecast is for a cloudy start but from noon onwards increasing amounts of sun. The SW wind is constant and starts brisk and gusting to 35mph, it's mild and will be with us all day giving a high of 18C and a low of 10C with a chill of -2C. The outlook is for similar better weather, quite warm for the next few days. A welcome break from the dull cool weather and this could be Indian Summer!
05:25. Nice walk, fresh but not cool. A brisk SW wind, 100% overcast and dry. Very quiet, not a soul about. Looking forwards to a better day!

Yesterday the story was one of gradual improvement and it was a very pleasant afternoon. At 20:00 it was calm, clearing and mild. First thing this morning it was calm, mild and a clear sky, that hasn't changed. The glass is up on 1017mb. The forecast is dead simple, sunny all day. The wind is very light and variable all day giving a high of 22C and a low of 14C and no wind chill. Not quite as sunny tomorrow and the unseasonable temperature will gradually fall but it's good weather for at least the next five days. Enjoy!
05:20. A very good short walk. Perfectly clear sky with a nice crescent moon and stars, a good dew, cool and fresh but not cold dead calm and of course dry. What's not to like. It's going to be a good tent-drying day.

Yesterday was one out of the bag, a lovely day, three good walks. At 20:00 the sky was clear, it was mild and calm. First thing this morning it was the same and since then a bit of light cloud may be coming in but still some stars. The glass is almost unchanged on 1016mb. The forecast is for more cloud today. The very light wind starts in the East and ends up in the west giving a high of 23C and a low of 14C with no wind chill. At the moment the outlook is for good sunny weather all week but not quite as warm.
05:10. Yes, an early walk. The temperature in old money is 60F, we have a perfectly clear sky with a big crescent moon rising in the east and it is calm. In short, as good a morning as you could hope for. Looking good for the day, perhaps less cloud than forecast so it could get warmer than 23C.
