No sorry but Gloria went straight to the basic use of it and it would be silly to leave everyone guessing. This particular key fitted the locks on the bonnet of an old car. They were also used for the locks on boot lids or the trunks that were often mounted on the luggage carriers of old cars. I seem to remember the railway companies using them for the locks on carriage doors at one time.
So I think we should give it to Gloria and put another object up.

In the Army they were called T keys, and used to open the 'side bins' on Comms Vehicles where cables etc were stored.
Being small and not tied down, they were of course regularly lost, and occasionally stolen by colleagues. You'd have been the object of envy if you had the one shown in the picture. A substitute was a length of square section steel with a 90 degree bend in it. They were quite sought after.
As Trigger would say "look after your T key. . . . .

Kev has it! Molten slag being cast into blocks which were used for building. I got the drawing out of an old children's comic. Would they expect kids to be interested in that sort of thing now?

"

They might - I buy
Aquila magazine for two of my grandchildren. Have done for a few years now.
I always ask before renewal if it's still relevant to them and always get the answer - "yes".
Seems there's often a scuffle for first dibs when it arrives.
