Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Yes, Kev! You're on the right track with `underground access for a Roman building'. Not in London but neither is it that far from the Big Smoke. Remember I mentioned a major motorway, and think north.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Is it somewhere near the great north road?

I see you'll be blown off today if indeed you were planning on doing any climbing. Looks like a nasty day coming up. The wind hasn't struck us yet.....

Bang on the money, Tom!
Welwyn Roman Baths is a 3rd-century bath complex that formed part of the Dicket Mead Roman villa. The baths lie directly underneath the A1(M) motorway, protected by a steel vault. Welwyn Roman Baths
The article is well worth reading. The site was found by a local archaeologist named Tony Rook in 1960 and he and his wife formed the Welwyn Archaeology Society which spent years exposing the rooms - then they found that the new A1(M) motorway route was going to run over the site!

End of the hinge?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I probably didn't word that properly. It's not hinge related but is part of the 'construction' of something.

It's also a decorative part of the whole object and there are more than one of them.
