Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We have heavy rain this morning so no plans in mind beyond an hour in the shed drilling and tapping my cylinder, breakfast and second sleep. I shall see what the world looks like then!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The focus this morning was on drilling and tapping for the 4 X 4BA studs that make the fastening of the Cylinder to the target end of the bed. Once they were done and fitted the hole pattern in the front lid had to be transferred to the target end, than refined until the studs fitted and clearance for the nuts filed in the casting. Then the lid was fitted to the cylinder and the studs were re-fitted with Loctite as they are a problem if they unscrew with the nut when the cylinder is fitted. That was where I finished leaving the Loctite to cure overnight.....

Morning
Out early today as Bob has to be at Fairfield hospital for 9.00 for a procedure. I will collect him at lunchtime. Otherwise no major plans. Rain forecast for the afternoon so may spend the morning tidying up leaves in the garden, and bringing some geraniums in from the greenhouse to the conservatory. They are beginning to look un happy.

I hope you are more successful Wendy!
Bob's 'procedure' sounds mysterious.... whatever it is I hope it all goes well.
For my part, I shall go to bed and have a sleep....

Not mysterious, just not pleasant. He had a nasty side effect of bleeding from the last lot of antibiotics , so checking his colon to make sure there was no other underlying cause.

Ah, the dreaded Proctorscope! Give him my commiserations.....
I said I'd take a view later. It isn't raining so I am going to chance a short walk into Town Square and back.....
My thoughts are with Wendy..... With luck she should be moving towards the SW!

Just on the train in Skipton. I'll relax when I've found my seat on the Cross-country train from Leeds!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
That was a very tight change over in a packed Leeds City Station! A bit stressful but made it and eventually found my seat and a tiny space in a luggage rack to squeeze my case into. No one in my seat for a change but despite attempting to get a forward facing seat by the window I'm by the aisle and going backwards. Never mind, we are on the move!
I'll wave to Tiz as I'm passing through Taunton.

Glad you're on your way Wendy but sorry to hear you have the hassle of the seat booking not working. That would be unheard of on the Continent or even on one of our old services. We need to get our railways back!

I shall be mainly - reminding myself that each day, I vow to give less time to this site, and inflict my thoughts on a long suffering audience of about ten people, most of whom are not interested, and do something more useful.
And every day (especially today ) I fail - sorry.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I spent the first half hour this morning making room next to the stud holes on the target face of the bed for the nuts but before that I ran the tap through all the nuts to make sure they were an easy fit on the studs. Once I had done that and proved the fit I put the cylinder in the mill and cut the 1/4"slot which is the exhaust port.... That's done and so once again we have had slow but steady error-free progress..... That makes it a good morning!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Not much done yesterday except bringing in my plants from the greenhouse. I no sooner got back from the hospital, via B&M than I got a phone call to pick Bob up. Sadly not all is as good as we had hoped and there needs to be follow up investigations on a suspicious piece of tissue. We are trying to remain positive but are facing a bit of unknown territory at the moment. It knocked the wind out of our sails as they say and neither of us felt inclined to do much. We now have to wait for more tests and biopsy results. I think we are thankful for the couse of antibiotics that brought this to light.
Today is a mixed day weather wise. Bob is off to the park but no trains will be running. Its a day for maintenance and their own engineering stuff. I shall grab a waterproof and do a bit of garden tidying. I need the fresh air and some motivation . It can ‘t be as bad as the outdoor gardening I did in France.
Have a good day all

Sorry to hear that Sue and please pass on my best wishes to Bob. The initial assessment in any of these matters is always quite negative and I hope this is the case here. Best of luck Bob.....

I was back up after second sleep at 10:00. I am having a light lunch now..... There is no incentive to go out, it's gloomy and it's raining. Could be a good day for a dad nap.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It has been a pleasant sunny morning in Devon, we have had a walk around the saltmarsh reclamation scheme at Budleigh Salterton, along the Otter River with coffee at Otterton Mill. The mill was in operation producing flour.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
All I can do is worry as I watch and wait Sue. Exactly the same position you are in. It's lousy and Kev is right, all you can do is stay positive and hopeful. It helps if you are busy and you two should have no difficulty on that score.....
I shall be in the shed for an hour as usual and if the weather forecast is accurate should get a midday walk and sit in. I shall take a view on that later.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I started this morning with housekeeping, changing the cutter in the VM from the 1/4" end mill I used last to the normal cutter. Then I Addressed the cylinder. I marked the cylinder for the 4BA studs that will fasten the back lid on. Then I marked and drilled the lid clearance for the studs and went back to the cylinder where I drilled for tapping 4BA and ended the morning ready to start tapping. That will be the first job in the morning. Another morning which has been an hour of steady error free progress. That makes it a good morning!
As for later on, I realised this morning that I need to go veggie shopping this morning..... Luckily the forecast is dry....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Thank you all for your support and concerns. Luckily we are quite a matter of fact family and life must go on as we wait, though it remains a nasty niggle in the background. We were told there should be progress over the next two weeks so it looks like our trip to Edinburgh next week may be cancelled though it is now a low priority.
Today I have voice therapy clinic at North Manchester hospital. Last time I went I was given a different exercise involving blowing through a straw into water whilst making certain sounds at the same time. It seems to have had a positive effect. We have no plans for the afternoon. I may tackle that gardening that could not be done yesterday as we had torrential rain all day. I have zoom yoga at 5.15 pm
