We renew every year, monthly payment no time limit as far as we know. Premiums only gone up due to cost of living. At one time many years ago on our new kitchen we were given a bulk deal but after a few years each appliance was separated out.. its just a standard appliance insurance. We have just taken the double oven off because its annual premium increase was not worth it at the price of a new oven . Thats simply the increase in insurance costs everywhere and not related to the age of the appliance

Thanks for explaining that. It's not something I've ever done but I see the advantages. Most I've ever done is go for two years at John Lewis then take my chance. My other trick is to always buy German. (Bosch or Liebherr).

Tell me about it ! Just had my car insurance quote for next year increase by 68%. Haggled it down a bit to +42% by reducing the annual mileage to what I actually do (not much). Went for another quote to a company (I'll show them !) I'd been with for years - and the result was a lot more. - an unbelievable +200%, (Scurried back quickly and renewed) .

David, you know what I'm going to say don't you..... Reading that makes me grateful once more that I kicked car ownership into touch.
I shall be in the shed from 06:00. The two tasks I have in mind are to oil the machines then build the castings back up on the temporary base and start fitting again...... The only thing I have to do after that is go round to the neighbouring Hill Street, knock on the door of number 10 and ask them for the parcel that was delivered there on Nov 7th addressed to Susan but at my address. You'd think the young lady would be in on Sunday...... Wish me luck!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The first job this morning was to use emery paper to clean all the excess paint off mating surfaces where it would interfere with the fit. Then I set to to refit all the parts mounted on the baseboard and get the engine ready for the next round of fitting which is the crank pin bearing and connecting rod and the valve train. The flywheel will be refinished and polished but for the moment is just slipped on the end of the crankshaft to show where we are. A good hour and a quarter. I enjoyed that!

Morning
What a lovely evening with Erin, she was so polite so chatty. She decorated the tree after tea which took some time. There will be few minor adjustments today so we can get the chairs back in a better position. She had a bath, she only has a big shower at home where she even enjoyed recreating her child hood baths here, toys and all. We didn’t see her for about 45 minutes!
Today is a typical Sunday. Bob will be at the park, not giving rides but tidying and boiler testing someones engine, I will be washing, ironing, making the Sunday roast , washing up as I go along and generally pottering .
Have a good day . I think its a bit drier and calmer today

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Laughingly called the fun run Sue. Significant cold rain falling and Wendy was right, scores , perhaps hundreds, of santas getting wet. A peculiarly British thing to do.....
Also. While I was out posting yet another complaint to British Gas I called in at the house where the Post Office say they delivered Susan's parcel by mistake. Two used nappies on the doorstep and a total waste of time because the young woman denies all knowledge and when I asked if the Post Office were lying she just shrugged her shoulders. I have broken the news to Susan......

The Santa Fun Run raises money for Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends so it's well worth taking part! Sally and I did it at a brisk walk and weren't the last home. Sally even managed a jog up to the finish line in the town square but my ankles can't cope with that sort of stress.

It rained all the time but the Santa suits soaked most of it up!

I shall be in the shed as usual at 06:00 and most likely starting the day by oiling everything that needs it and tidying up before the next bash at fitting. After second sleep I shall be veggie shopping in Town Square as it's that time of the week again!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I gave the shed 45 minutes this morning because that was all I needed to do what was on my agenda, clean up the bench and the tools and do the same with the vertical mill and the lathe, both of which were thoroughly oiled and then wiped down again. Every now and then you have to stop and do some maintenance! I'm ready now to go forward and I'll decide what that is by the time I'm in there tomorrow morning. But now breakfast and second sleep is the project.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Son in law Ed did the santa dash one year down in Coventry, it was raining then too. The girls were very young and were astounded at seeing all these Santas but loved it. I don’t know of any round here but there probably are nearer the city centre. As for the parcel Stanley I think Susan can claim from the post office as it was their mistake despite what the young woman said, especially as the post office can say where it was delivered to and that it was not you.
Talking of parcels I wrapped a couple yesterday but ran out of big sheets of wrapping paper for the childrens’ selection boxes, so Bob brought some from Tesco on the way back from the park. Christmas is nearly sorted now, we should be at Julias this year but I have a feeling plans may change.
This morning is zoom Pilates and this evening zoom zoom yoga. This afternoon I may go with Bob to Salford university for a trip out. One of the final year IT students is converting a database to do with model engineers for his final year degree project. At present it only runs on a very old system on a very old laptop and it needs to be modernised and made more universally available.
So thats our day, have a good one.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sue, re. the parcel. That's the route that is being taken by the sender of the parcel, it is her responsibility to pursue it, pay Susan her money back and seek recompense herself from the Post Office. It was this process that produced the evidence of delivery and when they said the lady had painted fingernails she pointed out that this was definitely not me! Beside this they have co-ordinates and visual evidence that shows they delivered to the wrong address.
I shall be in t5he shed for an hour and cooking veggies later but before that I shall put my chicken in to roast, today is a cooking day!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
First job this morning was to refine the fitting of the crankshaft to make sure it was free running when the top brasses were tightly bolted down. Then I took a view and decided that the place to work next was in the fitting and finishing of the crosshead. Careful measuring and marking and I have cut it to the correct length. That's a start, now I need to do the necessary cutting to accept the connecting rod the making of which will be the next task. Quietly away we have more error-free progress. That makes it a good morning and now I can treat myself to breakfast. The chicken is in the oven and cooking.....

Glad that is being sorted, Stanley but what a pain.
I did go to Salford Uni with Bob yesterday, its certainly a bit different than it was in my day. It was an interesting meeting on setting up a web based database, and I quite enjoyed it. Many years ago I did O and A level Computer Science at evening class because I felt I was not technology literate. I loved it and feel the logic of the subject is just up my street as they say. I think , had it been around in my day I could have studied it, but then I also fancy Scientific Archeology , and oh so many other things. So much to learn and enjoy.
We went by direct train from Rochdale, but coming back we stopped off at Victoria and went to the large M&S store to try and get some specific pyjamas for Bs Christmas present that is now out of stock online. No luck but did get an alternative, the only one in her size, although today I shall be returning it to Rochdale as I found something more appropriate online. We came back on the tram. All travel was on our bus pass though we pay an extra £10 a year to include tram and train in the Greater Manchester area. Needless to say we were too late home for zoom yoga, but its never a priority if there is something else to do.
Today Bob is expecting a telephone consultation from the GP . The surgery phoned up out of the blue on Thursday night saying Dr Alam would like to talk to him. This is good as Bob has been trying to get an appointment with him for three weeks for another issue. This evening I am out for a meal with my Tuesday evening studio Pilates group. Always good fun.
Have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Re. the parcel, yes Sue, you're right. What is really upsetting Susan isn't the money (she has no doubt she will get that back.) it is that the parcel was one of knitting yarn that was a specific dye and there is no more to replace the loss.
Glad Bob gets to speak to the doctor..... He needs all the contact he can get.
Off to bed now Sue in contrast to your busy schedule.... The penalties of old age!

Be round at our Green Street Centre. Trying to figure out why the boiler isn't working on the remote thermostat and timer. Could be the batteries I suppose. I will check the boiler first and maybe go for a receiver restart upstairs in the boiler room. If both fail it will be call to Dave our boiler engineer. Need it tonight and tomorrow, it's Bereavement Group night tonight and a Jacobs Join social for the Labour Party tomorrow. I can always override it and put it on manual if push comes to shove. Not very convenient as it means I have to to turn out to switch it off.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Pressure error on the boiler, there is a permanent refill link and it fired up straight away once the system was re-pressurised. think there is a minor leak on one of the upstairs radiators which is is the number one suspect for the error.
