Pressure error on the boiler, there is a permanent refill link and it fired up straight away once the system was re-pressurised. think there is a minor leak on one of the upstairs radiators which is is the number one suspect for the error.
A usual suspect

Is it a 'mechanical' joint that's leaking? A nip up will be all it needs if it is.

How wonderful to have such knowledge and skills.
PS Not the veg cooking - I can manage that.

Yes it is Kev, opposite end to the TRV on the rad, slightly damp and evidence of minor leakage underneath.

Hopefully just a spanner job then

A bit of 'laying on the floor' and it should be easy enough to see where it's leaking from.

I wish you an easy fix Ian.....If it is a loose connection, slacken it a touch first before you start to tighten it to crack any crust that's built in the threads.....
I shall be in the shed as usual at 06:00 and after Second Sleep there is nothing that needs doing. I might just have a lazy day with a walk out to the bench at the end of Albert Road......

More work refining the crosshead. As usual the start was some careful measuring and marking and then cutting the slot in the crosshead that will accept the small end of the connecting rod. Then drill and tap it for the pin that will be the fulcrum for the rod. Lots of thought about this because the drawing is wrong, it calls for 3.7mm clearance on one side when it has to be 3/16" to accommodate the size of the pin I have to make. That's the next job, a bit of fine turning but that's for tomorrow....

Morning
Well I don't understand all of this but have experienced it when we stayed in a friend's apartment in Filey last year. I do remember Bob fixing it and the friend calling the plumber out.
I had a lovely meal out last night. It was at what was the Old Post Office in Rochdale straight opposite the newly done up town hall which looked magnificent with the lights shining on the restored stain glass windows.
Bob had his phone call from the GP who asked him to go straight up to the surgery for a proper chat. The outcome is more tests on the cough just to be sure. He has the MRI this afternoon. Iam at Maxines for sewing and zoom pilates this evening.
Have a good day all.

Closed but used, its a very nice cafe, bar, restaurant. Outside tables in the summer. ( The ´new’ post office is just down the road ). Bob and I go for a coffee there on our walk into town in the summer, In the winter we opt for a smaller more homely cafe…not Costa , though we have two

I have a feeling I should call in at the chemists and enquire about my prescriptions. I have heard nothing from them or the surgery and in a week we will have the Xmas lock down! Must do a bit of light shopping as well at the Co-op. This eating less has played hell with my regular patterns of shopping....
Apart from that I shell be in the shed at 06:00 starting off by making a very small specialised bolt for a pivot pin in the crosshead. Then I think I'll have to consider making a con-rod.

Today's task was to make the tiny pivot pin for the small end of the connecting rod and fit it into the crosshead. I started by resharpening my HSS cutter and checking it was on centre by facing a piece of scrap steel. Then a very careful bit of fine turning and fitting. I made no mistakes and ended up with the pin installed in the crosshead and ready to accept the con-rod.That made it a nice morning and now I deserve some breakfast!

Morning
Well Bobs MRI went ahead and the result will be available immediately to the medics. Now we wait for Friday again . I had a successful sewing afternoon and thus have a few tasks to do before my next session in the new year.
This morning, Bob has some one calling round to buy some of his amateur radio gear, this afternoon we are off to Norden to see our friend Wendy and this evening its a meal out with our friend Kath.
Have a good day all

Glad Bob's scan went well and obviously I want to hear there was a good result.... Please give him my best wishes Sue.....

Later at 09:00. I've just got back from the Co-op. I had to get one or two things and didn't want to be dragging my trolley round when I went to the pharmacy so I went shopping instead of second sleep. I shall read until I go to see about my repeat prescription. If I need to I can always have a dad nap at dinnertime!

Following on from my work on the crosshead, I now want to make and fit the connecting rod but before I do that I have to make the crank pin bearing because the design of the con-rod end depends on the exact measurements of the bearing so I got the castings out and started working on them, at the moment all I want is a good fit on the crank pin. Once I have that I can make my con-rod to fit. Because I make my crank shaft differently from the Stuart way, the brasses, as cast, are nothing like the shape I eventually want them to be. So and hour of careful measuring, thought and milling. That included re-sharpening the milling cutter.
(I'm at the stage where I should really ditch this cutter.... it is so short I am into an area where the steel is not tempered. I think I have had my moneys worth out of what was always a scrap cutter retrieved from a scrap yard!)

Morning
We had a lovely meal out last night. It was at a pub but lovely braised steak , veg and new potatoes. Very tasty and nice and homely. Not a chip insight, lovely.
Today Bob has the stitches out from his arm, then its our weekly lunch out with Wendy and Keith. We are going local today as we are not sure when Bob will be back from the District nurse, so I can walk up and claim the table if he is late. This morning I shall hand deliver some local cards, and finish off some other Christmas bits and pieces. Then this afternoon we shall await the dreaded phone call. Bob is out an engineers meeting this evening where he is giving a talk on Metal Finishing. That does not include metal that finishes up in his arm
It promises to be dry and cool, have a good day all

I've had my walk ans surprisingly, a very pleasant sit on the bench at the end of Albert Road watching the world frantically buying stuff for Xmas. True I was well wrapped up but as long as you are out of the wind it's quite pleasant.
