I thought it might be too easy, called tubes in the trade, this is where they are expanded into the tube plate in the firebox. If you look carefully you'll see that one of the tubes is much thicker. That's a 'stay tube' and there are several of them giving strength to the assembly as a whole.
Next for shaving?
