The fact we are in rows of terraced houses shelters us Peter. We never get the full force of the wind. That's reserved for the detached houses up on the sides of the hills.
Yesterday was very mixed, blue skies one minute and almost dark and raining the next. At 21:00 it was breezy, dry, scattered ragged clouds and a brilliant moon. Same first thing this morning but half an hour later we had heavy rain. I've just looked out and at e moment we have very light rain. The glass is down on 991mb and still falling. The forecast is for rain all day apart from a break this morning from 09:00 until 12:00 when we are promised some sunny spells. The wind is a strong SW all day gusting to 40mph at times. The high will be 11C and the low 6C with as much as a -4C chill at times. The outlook is for more rain until Wednesday when it clears up and we have some colder, dryer, brighter weather. November is coming in with a bang. The Shipping forecast gives gale warnings for all sea areas except Trafalgar. Winds will be as high as storm force 11 in NW waters.
05:20.It was raining hard just before I went out for my early walk but I was lucky, it bated and it was just a wet windy walk with very light rain. I note that all the planters and the canal boat Violet have gone from the area between the crossing and the Pioneer car park.

Violet, a temporary structure that was originally going to be there for 3 months, was slowly rotting away after 4 years :-)
There is talk of a homage to the Barlick Spud Roaster to replace it.

I'll vote for that Kev!
Just had a second walk and was lucky again, only very light rain.

Violet is no more, disassembled yesterday. We noticed when we went round to the Coop, surprised you didn't Stanley we saw you calling to a young woman at that end of the car park when we were departing. It had already gone by then.

But I had seen it Ian and had a chat with David Whipp about it. The young lady is one of my dog walk ladies, an engineer at Rolls and like many not at all sure what the future holds. The lump on her back is Brodie the new addition who arrived with the March lock down.
I think most of you will know that it hardly stopped raining yesterday. At 21:00 it was raining and still wet first thing this morning. I've just popped out and had a look and guess what? That's right, still raining. The glass fell to below 980mb yesterday but has started rising and is on 982mb now. The forecast is for a re-run of yesterday, rain all day. The constant SW wind will be strong all day gusting to 40mph and giving a high of 10C and a low of 4C with a wind chill of -4C for most of the day. The outlook is for it to become drier, brighter and colder over the next five days. It looks as though we are going to lose the strong Atlantic lows which have been ruling the roost for the last ten days.
05:20. A wet walk but luckily the wind has dropped temporarily. That's about it actually. The only thing of note is that we have a marquee in the corner of the Pioneer Car Park that wasn't there yesterday morning. For Remembrance Day?

I believe the marquee is for Christmas lights distribution according to posts on FB.

No actual decision was made at the last Town Council meeting about Remembrance Sunday although they talked about it at length. Essentially as far as I understand it will be do your own thing safely. There should be a maroon at 11am on the 11th. I will pay my respects and lay the wreath I have shortly after.

I hope they've told the man with the fish van on a Thursday that they've pinched his space. They didn't let him know last time when they closed the town square. 🤔

Pete, I was wondering if he could squeeze in alongside!
Yesterday it rained all day on and off. At 21:00 it was still raining. It cleared during the night and this morning we have a full moon and stars with a few wisps of high cloud. The flags are dry! The glass is up with a bang on 1007mb and rising. The forecast is for a cloudy day with a chance of a light shower all day and perhaps some sunny intervals this afternoon. The wind starts as SW and ends as NW with gusts to 30mph and a high of 7C and a low of 4C with a wind chill of as much as -5C in the morning when the wind is strongest. A nippy day! Not much better for the rest of the week but perhaps less rain. It's November after all is said and done!
05:25. A breezy morning, dry, clear with a full moon and very cold.
Kev was right about Xmas trees on shops. In fact the two on the Liberal Club are lit already.

Our temp was upped to 33C today, very warm and unexpected. Last night we slept with 20C, tonight with a more comfortable 14C.
Would you believe on Wednesday our temp goes down to 17C. Crazy , but all the same we are having a lovely Spring. 😊🌼

Have spent the last two afternoons watching Parrots ‘devour’ a tree in my neighbour’s garden.

Yes, it was warm Cathy. We went for our walk in T-shirts and sun hats. 4 loads of washing dried on the line in under 2 hours. It got quite windy this afternoon with the direction changing every 5 mins...we expected a thunderstorm, but all very calm and stable now. A lovely day all up.

Stop teasing us with 33C! We will almost certainly have a frost tomorrow morning...... :biggrin2:

We haven't had a frost but it's a cold morning! Yesterday was a teaser, we got short spells of sun in the afternoon but then rain came in again. At 21:00 it had stopped raining and the sky was clearing. We had a very clear sky and a brilliant moon all night and first thing this morning it was still the same. I've had my early walk, dry, calm and cold under a clear sky with a brilliant almost full moon. What I noticed was that many of the Xmas trees and lights put up yesterday are turned on and all the hanging baskets have gone. The large conical emitters in Town Square are installed and lit. The glass is up on 1025mb and still rising. The forecast is for a dry day with a lot of sunshine. The wind is light, it starts as WSW and becomes WNW during the day giving a high of 9C and a low of 5C with a -3C wind chill at times. A cold dry day so wrap up warm. The outlook is for similar weather for the next five days.

There's a frost down here this morning :-)

It's warmed up nicely this afternoon, a walk out is required :mexwave:

Yesterday was as per the forecast, lots of sun. At 21:00 it was calm, dry and clear with a good moon. First thing this morning it was the same but a halo round the moon as light high cloud came in. By the time I went for my first walk it was still calm and dry but completely overcast. The glass has risen to 1033mb and is steady. The forecast is for a dry overcast day with mist or fog a possibility later. The constant WSW wind is light to moderate and gives a high of 9C and a low of 7C with a -2C wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather for the next five days at least.

Yesterday afternoon was never totally dry, there was always a hint of rain in the air. At 21:00 it was calm and overcast, it was the same this morning but slightly damper. When I went out for my early walk it was calm, overcast and misty, not raining but very close! The glass is down slightly on 1028mb. The forecast is for a dry sunny day once the mist has cleared this morning. The light east wind strengthens to moderate later today giving a high of 10C and a low of 3C with a -2C wind chill this afternoon. Once again, the outlook is for similar weather for the next 5 days.

Not a bad day yesterday, dry and cold was the story with some very interesting high cloud patterns in the afternoon. At 21:00 it was calm, clear and cold. Same first thing this morning and I've just looked outside, no change. The glass is down on 1017mb. The forecast is for a dry day, a misty start and then sun later in the morning. The constant ENE wind is light and gives a high of 9C and a low of 6C with as much as a -3C chill. For much of the early part of the day it will feel very close to freezing. The outlook is for similar unexciting cold weather for the next five days.
05:20. A good walk, dry, calm and cold with thin high cloud and the start of a ground mist. Five out of the six LED lamps in the pioneer Car Park are out. I shall report them, again!

I snapped these clouds yesterday at about 2.30pm while walking up the steep track from Kitchen Farm.

Morning Wendy! Those are the ones I was looking at at the same time. I keep thinking I should look them up on the web but then tell myself there's no need, it's enough to be able to enjoy them.

We almost had the same cloud pattern yesterday afternoon but it never developed as well. It was a dry day on the whole and at 21:00 it was cold calm and clear. First thing this morning it was misty and no stars and it hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1015mb. The forecast isn't cheerful, fog drizzle and light rain! The constant east wind is light and gives a high of 19C and a low of 8C with only a light wind chill. The outlook for the next five days is for similar boring weather. (But boring can be good, we don't want exciting weather!)
05:40. Back from a walk. It's not cold, not foggy and not windy. It's just a boring overcast morning.

For most of the day yesterday, the 'fog' that was forecast was in fact a light mizzle, at 21:00 this was still the case. First thing this morning it was calm, not cold and damp but not raining I've just had a walk and it is the same now but a mist is settling in. The glass is down slightly on 1014mb and seems steady. The forecast is a re-run of yesterday, early mist and then cloudy all day but dry. The constant ESE wind is very light giving a high of 12C and a low of 10C with virtually no wind chill. The outlook is for very similar weather for the next five days.

Another quiet misty day yesterday, cleared a touch in the afternoon. At 21:00 we had a calm mild evening with a light mizzle. Same first thing this morning and now it's dry and calm. The glass is a little above 1016mb and steady. The forecast is for a re-run of yesterday but a bit more sun this afternoon. The southerly wind is light and mild giving us a high of 12C and a low of 8C with a slight wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather for the next five days, perhaps a bit more chance of wind and rain at the end of the week.

Later.... The car park with one out of six lamps lit.

05:20 The sky is clearing, moon and stars peeping out. Calm, dry and mild.

I like thunderstorms Cathy.....
Nothing like that here! Very quiet weather, so quiet you've a job to tell when it's raining! At 21:00 it was calm, mild and we had broken cloud. Same first thing this morning, occasional stars peeping through. Still calm and dry as I write. The glass is still hovering around 1015mb. The forecast is a re-run again! It's for cloud all day with perhaps a shower this evening. The change is in the wind which is southerly and brisk, gusting to 30mph. It gives a high of 12C and a low of 7C with up to -3C wind chill. The outlook is a bit livelier as well, changes in temperature and mixed weather coming in.
05:20. I've just had my early walk, still mild and dry with a broken overcast but the big change is the wind that has sprung up and is strong and gusty.

Last nights Mega Storm produced over 400,000 lightning strikes. It has been described as ‘ferocious’.
Unfortunately there was a lot of damage done...
But it was quite a show.

We had a quiet night Cathy.....
Yesterday stayed dry until the evening when, as per the forecast, the rain came in. It was still raining first thing this morning and hasn't stopped yet. The glass is down on 999mb. The forecast is for the showers to cease mid morning and the cloud will break giving a bit of sun but then the cloud will close in again for the rest of the day. The wind is a constant brisk SW giving a high of 9C and a low of 7C with a -4C wind chill this morning so wrap up well! The outlook is for five days of cold unsettled weather, sorry kids!
