It is currently on the same flightpath and stacked above a KLM flight heading for Mumbai, just passing Tokat in Turkey.

Looking at the routes it looks like they will part company over the Arabian Sea which will allow the KLM to descend for Mumbai.

Quite amazing that you can do this isn't it?

I agree. Here's the link - let's all have a look. Flight QFA10 LHR to Perth live

It's as near to the real thing as I want to be though. Curious how close it is to the KLM. I'd have thought they would be farther apart.

I am up and brewed and attending to my communications. We have had a shower of sleet during the night but otherwise we have a clear sky and it's dry. I shall be in the shed at 06:00 and beyond that I have no social commitments.
Later at 04:13. Just watched them land at Perth, almost 30 minutes early......

This morning was a succession of adjustments to get to a point where I had a functioning steam valve. It started with finding two 4BA bolts to fasten the valve support to the casting. Once I had that I had to make sure the clearances were right to allow the use of the 4BA bolts and then make sure I had the valve rod a good fit to the support. Then I had to make sure the steam valve was right to the right size and also adjusted the size of the valve support was allowing the valve had enough to enough free to allow full adjustment. At knocking of time I had it all correct and what I need to do now is make the last fitting of the valve train. I will do that tomorrow, today it is time for breakfast!

Morning
Yes it was, the 16 th. Thank you for your wishes everyone. We stayed in warm and dry all day after our snowy walk to buy soup and something for sandwiches for lunch. It was even too cold to be bothered walking over to the leisure centre for a swim , though Bob and Bill did walk to the Brittania pub for a beer.

This morning its -7 but there has been some thawing and we hope the roads are clear to Bowness where we are meeting friends for a post birthday lunch. Afterwards Barbara and Bill are going back home, Wendy and keith go back tomorrow. Its due to be a very sunny day but not getting much above zero. Have a good day all

First thing of note this morning is that I have spoken to both of my daughters already as Susan is up in Perth after a good night of recovery sleep. My plan is to be in the shed at 06:00 and my first job will be to have a look at my oak plinths as the raw linseed hasn't soaked into the tough dry oak but is sat on the surface like sticky jelly. It will still be doing good but I need to get the excess off as one of them is needed immediately. The only other item on the agenda is to ring Kathy and order my meat for delivery on Friday. Apart from that I have to keep myself warm and well fed! :biggrin2:

I went in the shed early this morning because I knew I had my work cut out. My aim was to get the engine bed mounted on it's final oak plinth. Before I did that I had to split the bed from the base and make sure that was ready and in addition I had to get the excess raw linseed oil off the three oak plinths. The oak is that tough the oil wasn't able to all get in to it, some was left on the surface as a sticky mess. I had to use turpentine and then an acetone paint thinner to get to the stage where I could sand the bases with the orbital sander, that took over half an hour. Then I had to mount the base on the plinth and cut and glue the protective rubber shield for the bottom of the base to protect whatever surface the engine will be stood on. As you can see I managed to get the base mounted under pressure in the vice. It can sit there for 24 hours to make sure the impact adhesive has worked. Now for breakfast!

Morning

Lovely lunch out yesterday. We managed to get there ok. The main roads were clear but danger of black ice in shady areas and on bends. Yes lovely meal but OUCH. The price was horrendous and it was only a village pub restaurant. Barbara and Bill had a reasonable trip home afterwards arriving to ungritted Rossendale roads at about 5.30. There was plenty of warning for that snow and freezing conditions so there is no excuse for not gritting.

Today we are having lunch in Kendal at just a local cafe ,soup and a roll I think…, then visiting another friend . Its where Wendy and I use to go for a weeks art every year. Sue is now nearly 90 but still very busy with her art. Wendy and Keith will go home from there and we will come back here for another couple of days. There is another visit to a friend planned but it is up near Selafield so we may give it a miss because of the roads.

So that's it. Have a good day

I don't know what's forecast for the Lakes but they are giving us snow here and then a warm up to double figures by Tuesday but with the penalty of rain. So travelling around could get easier Sue after today.
I shall be in the shed at 06:00 building my engine and then I shall have a quick pop out to the Co-op early doors for milk and some small essentials..... Not by choice but I have nearly run out of milk..... I'm looking at chicken roasting tomorrow and veggie shopping in Town Square on Saturday with veggie cooking on Sunday. Not happy about going out this morning but it has to be done!

Popping out for milk was a disaster. I went down in slow motion (no injury) and couldn't get up Two Good Samaritans got me back home and gave me a pint of milk.
In the shed I finished the build of the engine and put it on the kitchen table, you can't have too many steam engines!

Morning

Its still bitterly cold here and incredibly sunny. The main roads are fairly clear but with lots of black ice, side roads and footpaths are not really safe. It was supposed to snow last night but didn’t . Its due to be about 3 to 4 degrees today and tomorrow. That will make walking anywhere worse as there will be a covering of water on ice.

Our friends have all gone back, we will potter around. This morning we shall probably go and have swim at the leisure centre, then pop to Booths at Windermere for something for tea. We were going to go for a pub tea but its too treacherous to walk up there. We have enough potatoes and veg here, so need something to go with that. We may well pop in to Lakeland which is next door to Booths.

Have a good day all

Sorry Stanley, missed this

Hope you are Ok.

I just slipped outside too, luckily there was a handrail that I could grab. We have steps up to our cottage which have been cleared for us but there is the odd shady corner that has ice still. I slipped on the water on top from the fine drizzle. All the paths and roads on the Timeshare estate have bern cleared so we can walk about safely here, but elsewhere is very slippery

Shout if you need anything else Stanley, glad you got away with it. I will be doing an Aldi run probably on Sunday.

I went out yesterday and it took half an hour to get to our centre on Green Street, 200 yards at the most. Getting off the Croft down a very slight incline was a nightmare. I was switching the heating on for our trustee meeting. After my experience I suggested on our Whatsapp group that we cancel. Three of our trustees come from out of town and the other is 8 months pregnant. We ended up having a video meeting and everyone safe.

I then went across town to our new property on Frank Street to collect the mail. That wasn't too bad at all if you picked your way. Still took another 40 minutes to get home though, had to go half way round the town to find an alternative route back up home.

Thanks to both of you! I have just been Whatsapped by my young friend Vicky. She's bringing me some milk on her way home from work. So I'll not need to do any shopping until late Saturday and if the ice hasn't gone then, on Sunday.
Lovely to have people caring for me but I am OK I promise. I was very lucky! (And very silly to attempt it....)

Ian I have just seen your mail. That's a good offer and can I take it? Let me know what time you will be calling in and I will come with you to do my veggie shopping.
