Mixture of rain and snow. Back street full of slush this morning. Went to the butcher's yesterday instead of this morning, good call, the pavements will be a mess! Glass fallen and steady on 29". Anyone's guess what today will bring!
Predictions of Siberian weather coming in from the East next week bringing -15C. Deep Joy.

Hold steady everyone, don't forget we are still in the grip of Autumn. I will start a more suitable thread once the Winter Solstice is upon us on the 21st, only a fortnight to go!
He's just keeping us accurate Eileen. But you're right, this is not autumn weather! Walked very little yesterday, the pavements are a disgrace. Slightly milder this morning and could be a better day but forecast is for cold to come back after weekend. Glass has shot up to 29.7".

Most of the ice cleared from pavements yesterday, good job if it's going to freeze again! Glass fallen back to 29.5" and it was a windy night. Fairly calm this morning, no frost and it's raining at the moment.

Patches of blue sky in Barlick yesterday with a blustery NW wind that felt cold but no frost. Pavements are clear. Glass has risen to 29.7" and it's dry and clear at the moment. Looks as though this might be the start of the cold spell they promised us.
07:50, just back from our walk and it's much colder than first thing this morning. Freezing and a brisk wind from the NW that makes it feel like -5C· Am back in the warm and I shell stay here! (Go to it Wendy, this'll bring the roses to your cheeks!)

We had a bright, cold start yesterday but by 11:00 it was clouding in and I could smell snow. Later in the afternoon the wind swung into the East and the cloud was less threatening. The glass was rising slowly all day and is 30" this morning. Very hard frost and dry. My mother always told me it was healthy. It must be under -5C.

Never got above freezing yesterday. Even colder this morning I think and we have fog as well. Glass has fallen to 29.7", it looks as though the low they forecast fro Friday might be a bit early. The wind swung into the west yesterday afternoon and we can expect some snow before the rain gets the upper hand I think. The roads could be treacherous so if you're driving take care!
It's 07:50 and Jack and I are back from our dark, foggy, bitterly cold walk round Valley Gardens. The met office says about -3 but they are way out as regards Barlick, I'd say at least -5C and probably lower than that. The Crombie with a padded shirt underneath and a woolly scarf do their job splendidly!

It never got above freezing yesterday and yes Wendy, I'm pretty sure we were somewhere near -7C down here, always colder in the valleys. It's even colder this morning, I can't even guess at the temperature, I did notice that my first breath outside was so cold it made me cough. I noticed yesterday afternoon that what slight breeze there was was form the East. Glass is falling and almost down to 29.2" and I believe the forecast about a change today as a low comes in from the West. I'm expecting snow as a precursor to the rain when it comes in in the next 24 hours so I shall go down to the butcher's this morning, a day early. My fear is that even when it rains it's going to freeze on the super-cooled pavements and roads. Could be some black ice about and I can do without it when I'm walking! Definitely winter......

It's not got here yet Moh but has already hit the far SW. Tiz will get it before we do! I noticed yesterday afternoon that what breeze there was was still out of the East but the rain is coming up country and there are warnings that it will be freezing rain at first which will wash the salt off the roads and then become black ice until the warmer rain arrives. At the moment we still have a hard frost outside but the glass has fallen to almost 28.7" I shall be walking very carefully! Glad I went to the butcher's yesterday!

Our winter wasn't very wet this year, and now they are saying that our summer will probably take on the pattern of being hot for a few days then followed by storms and plenty of rain, which means it will be very muggy.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Not muggy here Cath. We are back from our walk and it has only just come light but is still gloomy and misty. The wind is still in the East but that will all change later. Cold, damp and gloomy, proper December weather. Glad I'm inside and in the warm!
Ten monutes later and it's started raining gently and the wimd is getting up. Rain freezing on wall tops as it lands. Watch out for ice!

It has been lashing it down with rain since mid morning and the wind is very strong, I am sitting here with the blinds drawn to keep the heat in. That is the only trouble with having my computor in our converted loft, it is freezing in winter and roasting in summer.
Not a nice day yesterday, unrelieved gloom all day. Only good thing was that when the rain started in earnest after dinner it didn't snow and there was minimal black ice, only the occasional patch. Funny thing was that even though the front was coming in from the SW the wind was mainly Easterly, normally a dry quarter. The glass dropped like a stone yesterday to almost 28" but is now rising and this morning it's at5 28.4" and still rising. Hopefully we shall have some light today!
