That's funny, I can remember as if it was yesterday. So we know it's in a tunnel. I'll give it until dinner time to see whether anyone can come up with the answer.

When the second of the first twin tunnels at Standedge were built (LINK) it was linked at the half way mark by a cross tunnel which had cast iron vaulting and encaustic tiling flooring. The directors held a banquet there and the image is of the cast iron vaulting. Margaret was with me when we walked to the half way point as part of the activities of the Hebden Bridge Gay Gricing Society in 1978......

When the first Standedge railway tunnel was dug they made short cross shafts into the existing canal tunnel and used them for extracting spoil material via the canal. This is one of the cross shafts and you are looking into the canal tunnel.
