Yes Gloria! The dovetail keys are made from terracotta and they are joining the shaped terracotta blocks that form the rim of the chimney top.
Next object?

One for you to guess at Stanley. We had a local walk around the lanes this morning and where an old farm is being renovated the builders have come upon this bedrock where they are widening the entrance. Can you name the rock or the place??

I could hazard a good guess based on the rock that's under Foulridge.

I'll have a guess at Dowshaw and Chatburn Limestone, the same as Raygill Quarry.

Big clue then. Lower Burnt Hill is to the top left of the photo, and we walked along Hawshaw Road, down Davy Hill and back along .............. towards the pub. 🙂 I took the photo as we were crossing the darker brown patch.

I haven’t an idea, but, looking on a map I can see Stone Head Farm, is that anything to do with it?

Warley Wise farm and Warley Wise grit?

That's the one! I don't think the contractors who are widening the entrance will have expected to find rock just under the surface at that point. It runs in diagonal ridges beside the existing road. Good to see the building coming back to life, it has been derelict for many years.

I bookmarked that site!
But when I went to log on to it Firefox advised me not to as they have a security risk.
