Did a Frech Style Chicken and Leek dish in the slow cooker today. Served with boiled spuds and broccoli...yum.
Perfect on a cold and damp day whilst busy organising cupboards.
Took a boot load of stuff to the charity shop mid afternoon, the house smelled lovely when we walked back in and we were looking forward to dinner! Should have done a loaf in the bread-maker...

Cottage pie tonight -although a salad would probably be more appropriate!

I followed in Moh's footsteps yesterday and roasted half a blade of Two Shear. The meat was the base of a salad butty at dinnertime but at teatime I had new potatoes, peas lamb, tomato and cucumber with fresh mint sauce from the front garden, all on a plate!

Dinner was the new potatoes, lamb and peas warmed up. An egg salad butty for tea. Felt a bit peckish so I allowed myself half a butty with cheese and Branston Pickle for a corner filler....

Red Salmon Mornay, with Baby Peas, Roast Spuds and Roast Butternut Pumpkin. Served with a wedge of Lemon.
It was Yum.
Fresh Veg Day tomorrow. We will head back to that wonderful Fresh Veg shop that was recommended by a local.
This week I used everything I bought last week, except for about three carrots ( I got another rude one!), and a few Brussels Sprouts.
Got a heart shaped Potato in my bag too...will email Stanley a pic to post.

Bet you smothered that lot with Brown Sauce!
But.. Can't fault the Veg intake.

Another busy day, so Baked Beans on Toasted English Muffins tonight.

You'd lose the bet. Salt, pepper and a light sprinkle of Heinz Salad Cream. Plenty of boiled spuds and carrots left so it will be another healthy tea....

I solved the kettle crisis yesterday by throwing £28 at it for a new one, a Russell Hobbs this time, bugger Breville! It's larger than the normal kettle which sits well with my policy of not having a hot tap in the kitchen. Let's hope it does better than the last one!

I had a crust left off the old loaf so I toasted it plus a crust from the new loaf and had the rest of the beans and two fried eggs for dinner. Cauliflower, new potatoes, carrots, baked beans and a meat pie for tea. (Yes Maz, brown sauce on the meat pies and whey butter on the veggies.)

Have you emptied all the boxes yet? Is Cathy any closer to getting back on line? Give her my love please.....

Have emptied all the boxes!
Now need to do a mini Spring Clean of each room to make sure the cupboards I chose for things actually work. I find this system best for me because, after getting things in the right room, you want to be sure the layout is friendly for everyday living. ( you don't want to walk a mile between toothbrush and toothpaste, or hairbrush and mirror etc). When you live somewhere for years you don't notice the system you have set up because it works. Most things are in the right place I think, but as an example, I had to get all of my gardening tools into workable order today. They were all in the garage, but not together. ( yes I have slight OCD tendencies but in the long run, being organised works!)
Cazza is still awaiting her charger/ transformer thing, which her daughter has ordered. I texted her today and she expects to be up and running by the end of the week. She hasn't enjoyed her cone of silence....poor lass.

I know I'm an alien in this thread, but it seemed the appropriate place to put it

We usually frequent Dick Turpins tea van (on the A59) or the cafe in West Marton for Sunday Lunch, but the car is sick and in the garage so we stayed in Barlick. We decided to try the Cellar Bar (one of Big Kev's haunts I beleive) and ordered the Afternoon Tea for 2 people. This is what appeared (less a couple of sandwiches we scoffed before we took the picture), more than enough for a Sunday dinner time and yes it was as good as it looked.

We went last week Stephen and I concur, a nice spread and as much tea as you can sup!

It is indeed one of my haunts, the Afternoon Tea is always a treat and very good value. Have you seen the prices in Betty's Tea Rooms?

Looks delicious, but simply could not eat that much in a month of Sundays....
It's lovely to do something special though. We often forget to invest time in ourselves and our relationships...

Pluggy, you aren't an alien on any topic! Get posting!
Maz, funnily enough the charger connection on Susan's new Ipad was faulty but she was lucky enough to have a friend who had a spare.
Plenty of cooked cauliflower, carrots and spuds left so a vegetarian dinner and the same again for tea plus a slice of ham and some peas.

I only threw one away a matter of months ago, Stanley...but I keep telling myself it was a different brand of laptop so probably didn't fit Cazza's. You can't keep things forever just in case...though for some strange reason I found remote controls for TVs and VCRs we no longer have! Where they have been hiding all this time, I will never know...

Spinach and Cheese Pastries for tea, probably with Mash and Baby Peas.
We've just got back from a lovely long walk in the sun, so Vitamin D for us today.
Son coming to visit tomorrow ( with dog) so will make Pizza for him. There will be a big clean up on Wednesday after they leave because Abby the Labby likes to leave her fur in every conceivable location. No doubt she will sit guard at the pantry door as usual, because she knows where I keep her treats.
I'm a bit worried how she will cope coming down a spiral staircase. She will be fine if she keeps to the outside where the treads are wide. But how do you explain that to a dog ( especially one a bit light on in the brains department)?

Grilled bacon and poached egg butty for dinner. Half a bacon butty for tea, fruit and nuts for afters.

Abby did really well on the stairs...I was quite amazed because she tends to rush everywhere like a bull at a gate. She always needs to rush and find Febby as soon as she arrives and will search every room until she has found him ( which is a bit of a blow to me as I am always waiting at the front door with arms open waiting for first cuddle and smooch). She rushed up those stairs like the devil himself was chasing her, but came down in a very careful and lady like fashion. Well done!

Pizzas for lunch.
Big Roast for dinner.
Sitting here very satisfied after dinner ( and glass of wine), with heater on. Dog has collapsed after all the excitement and is now occupying two thirds of the lounge suite...asleep on a towel.

Sounds just about right Maz. Funny listening to you talking about roasts when we are avoiding cooking as much as possible.
Pure salad butties X 2 yesterday to use up the last of the loaf. Made my tomatoes into relish, they were building up on me....
