Can you tell me what is different in this second edition of this colonial poster?

Was the white man more obviously holding a whip in his left hand?

For the record, I have read the report, you can delete any of your own posts if you like or need to. Just click the X in the header of the post then confirm.

Correct Peter. The poster was sanitised so as not too upset too many people. Steve Constantine told me it was edited to remove the whip and other evidence of harsh overseeing.
Now we need another object.

My understanding is that once another member has read the post - the option to delete it is removed. An administrator has to do the job then.
I have often had quick second thoughts, and deleted a post without problems, but I (for instance ) I have just tried, and cannot delete the last post I made The large X is not offered.

I deleted the post as requested. The red exclamation marks were making me nervous.

What was it all about? I didn't even recognise the name on one post, was it Warsie? I decided to ignore it but I completely support Wendy. If an moderator or such is uncomfortable with a post they have the right to delete it unilaterally. It doesn't need a discussion. As Doc once said, Oneguy isn't a democracy!
We must be one of the cleanest sites on the web. Let's keep it that way.

Nothing much happened Stanley! Whyperion answered correctly at the same time as Tizer so reported his own post to get it deleted, that's all.

I must have missed something here, but we’ll done Wendy for being on top of things.

It really was nothing! If I had a new object I'd post it now.....

Thanks for the clarification Wendy. Some time after I'd posted my answer I looked in again and saw a strange second post on a ghostly yellow background. Didn't know what it was so returned to viewing other threads.

What is it?
Just seen your post Peter. Exactly what I did. Not my problem.

Some sort of press, maybe for books?

Looks like a press of some sort.

Yes Kev but what for?

Not papermaking , or books. Looks like an adjuster for a pressure relief valve for a boiler, or someone has a very big pressure cooker for doing their beetroots

As Gloria says above, books?

I can't see a post from Gloria.... Bookbinders do use presses like this but with a wider opening this was for a different purpose. There was one in every Victorian office..... I can't think of a clue that wouldn't tell you exactly what it was for.

I can see it Stanley, it’s the first one after the picture, and before Kevs, I said some sort of press maybe for books, wonder why you can’t see it.

I don't know Gloria, it's there now, I have just had a look. You're all in the right area in that it is a press but it's 19th century office equipment....

For pressing an embossed seal on documents or envelopes?

Could it be for making duplications, part of an early copying system?
