Sorry Ian but no.

No takers? You've seen it before!

I really don’t know. Don’t think it can be a measuring device as it can be carried, and could lose its accuracy.

Mill related measuring device?

It is for carrying a measuring device but not necessarily mill-related although it could be in a mill......

It must be an expensive piece of kit to be in a box like that.

I think you're right Gloria, it would cost an enormous amount if it and its contents were made today!
One last clue, you've seen me using it on a steam engine!

Is it for checking flow rates of any kind? Grasping at straws here 😂

Is it for testing pressure?

You're both on the right track. The instrument combines measurement of both flow and pressure combined into a specialised reading. You are so close!

Pressure indicator gauge?

Well done Gloria, you got there. It's an indicator for drawing a time/pressure graph of what was happening in a steam engine cylinder.
Now we need another object.

Is it the code breaking machine at Bletchley Park?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS

by PanBiker
I have been to Bletchley Park and it doesn't look like the rebuilt Bombe machine to original plans as below:

5080

All the original machines were broken up at the end of the war on Churchill's orders, subject to their ULTRA designation. The operators were given a set of sidecutters and other hand tools and told to disassemble so that no parts could be identified as belonging to the original equipment.
