I started the morning by drilling and tapping for the 5BA suds that hold the valve rod gland in place. Once they were fitted I marked the cylinder for orientation on the target end of the bed with the valve face vertical. I marked and drilled the position of the four 4BA studs and adjusted the holes until I had a good fit. The valve face is not quite vertical so tomorrow I shall adjust the holes in the target end until that fault is rectified. That was a good 50 minutes so I have knocked off for breakfast.

Morning

After Friday, yesterday was a lovely ´chill out’ day with friends. We were at the restaurant for nearly 3 hours. It was a fabulous meal and a well hosted one by the restaurant. We then went to Joan and Eddies for a couple of hours and got home about 30 minutes before our Tesco delivery. It was an evening of TV, Strictly, then THE WHEEL, then a programme about the Yardbirds. Followed by an early bedtime and a read. This morning we woke on English time nicely recovered.

Today I shall change our bedding and do the ironing. Then I have a massive funPASS THE PARCEL to make for my Tuesday Pilates Christmas meal at a local bistro. I hope to have something in every layer, joke or something better or a small chocolate bar. Bob is at the park but the forecast is poor and its nearly dark by 4.00 ish so he won’t be late. Its a nice beef bourguignonne for tea ( still in French mode) followed by something with apples as we wade through our stored crop. I shall also make a batch of broccoli and stilton soup for lunches this week. I was going to say a back to normal week but its not as it involves three meals out and a trip to Christies on Wednesday. 3 months comes round quickly

Have a good day all

Morning Sue. I have just got up; after second sleep and we still have a gloomy wet morning. It's supposed to stop raining by 10:00. We shall see!
The shortest day is on December 21st when we will have less than 8 hours of daylight..... It doesn't feel a lot different than that now when it is overcast like today. Today is a case in point, It will be dark early tonight as we are promised heavy overcast from 15:00 onwards.

I shall start the day by preparing my chicken and putting it in to roast. Then I will be in the shed refining the fit of the cylinder on the bed casting. After second sleep I shall deal with my chicken and the gravy and then settle back into a relaxed day. Veggie cooking tomorrow!

This morning I massaged the holes in the target end until I had got the cylinder rotated until the valve face was perpendicular to the bed. Then I marked and drilled the clearance holes in the back lid. I am ready now to mark the orientation of the hole pattern, dismantle the cylinder and mark, drill and tap the 4BA stud holes in the cylinder. But at the moment I am focussed on my breakfast.....

Sounded easy but it was all go from one to the other. I also had to sort out a prescription issue on my way back from Haslingden. When in France I had a message to say my prescription was ready, but I hadn’t ordered one and the message came from our old pharmacist that we stopped using in May. I checked on the NHS app and my preferred pharmacist had bern changed back to the old pharmacist. The old pharmacist and the Drs receptionist basically said it was my error, the implication being I had ordered the prescription and I had changed the preferred pharmacist ie did I have dementia! The new pharmacist said that the old one must have done it possibly as part of a routine repeat the computer had thrown up, and thought the wrong pharmacist had been put on my account and changed it back. Otherwise it didn’t make sense. Anyway they confirmed my details, and to go back to them if it happened again. A very different attitude . That all took an hour. My concern. Was it was a prescription for someone else, who therefore did not get it. It was my medication. Very very odd

Funny isn't it Sue that so often when the system has a glitch like that the first place they look to is consumer error..... :biggrin2:

This morning was a catalogue of small things. First I marked the back lid with a witness mark and then marked the back of the cylinder for drilling and tapping 4 BA for the six studs. To do this I had to dismantle the cylinder and while doing this I refined and improved the fit of some of the parts to make it easier to rebuild after painting. Then I drilled and tapped the cylinder for the studs that will hold the back lid on. These are all done and are now ready for fitting tomorrow. I deserve my breakfast.....

We seem to be having different weather than everyone else.... today isn't gong to be particularly cold, for instance no frost at any time.
Not that it concerns me because I am going to be hard at it in the kitchen cooking my veggies..... But first, as usual, I shall chill out with a dose of second sleep..... See you all later....

We are continuing with the job of finishing all the tasks that need to be done to finish the cylinder and It's ancillary parts. The first job this morning was to fit the studs to the back end and make sure the lid fitted the stud locations. It was perfect as far as orientation was concerned but I will have to increase the amount of thread to ensure the nuts can tighten down on the lid. Next I cut the exhaust port in the valve face and then drilled and tapped for the exhaust pipe which I then fitted. Tomorrow I shall address the studs.... Now the job is breakfast!

Morning

I did a bit of sewing in the morning then a walk to the local post office as Bob had some engineers stuff to post. I pottered on the computer in the afternoon, printing off a much reduced Christmas card list and doing a little more on my history talk. The pilates meal was lovely. A local bistro and friend of our ‘ leader’ Taira opened her dining area just for us last night. The food, friendship and atmosphere was lovely.

Today is a Christies day for a routine check up so its an early lunch for an early afternoon appointment. I doubt we will be back before 5.30 pm. Its thick fog at the moment. Have a good day all

Morning Sue.... Please give Bob my best wishes and tell him I will be with him in spirit. I want a completely clear report!
As you press forward into the day I am off back to bed.... I'll be watching out for any later reports.
They are promising us sun here in Barlick but they also say it's clear and as far as I can see we have overcast..... Ah well....

Just one exciting task this morning. Increase the amount of thread on all six 4BA studs for the back lid, refit them and test that all the threads are good. This completes the work needed on the cylinder. I don't need to drill any more holes in it! Now I want my breakfast.

Morning

All good news for Bob, though we were there hours and did not get home till after 8.00 pm. At least the traffic was ok when we drove back as rush hour was long over. I was quite distressed because no one came to see me in the 4 hours I was waiting my mind working over time, especially as the rumour was that there was that there had been a problem with one of the patients . Everyone in the waiting room came and went and I was still there. A simple’ we have been held up ‘ would have helped. Normally he is just over an hour. They had moved Bob to the end of the list because he did not need an anaesthetic and would be quick

Today is Haslingden Art group Christmas lunch and Bob is going with me. The pub we are going to is near Claire’s in laws so we are taking the opportunity to go and have coffee with them this morning before hand. It will probably be about 3 when we get back . Then I shall finish writing Christmas cards so we can get them in the post. Otherwise a relaxing day. It promises to be windy and wet. Have a good day all

Yes awful. I have a smart watch and when I looked at my daily data my pulse started to rise at about 4.30 which was nearly 2 hours after he left me. It had reached 117 bpm by 7.00 pm which was shortly after he came back to the waiting room. It took all evening to return to normal
