Morning

Out earlyish this morning. We are off to East Riddlesdon Hall with the u3a History group and picking up two other people on the way, one in Littleborough, the other in Todmorden. We will probably be back late afternoon . This evening is zoom pilates. I missed yesterday's classes as we didn’t get back from the MRI scan at Christies till 6,30. Unlike last week everything went smoothly. One more test to to go next week then a visit to the specialist

Have a good day all

Morning Sue.... I like East Riddlesden Hall. When you are inside try to imagine what those dark interiors would look like when newly built and the oak was all light coloured. Then imagine all the brightly coloured cushions and drapes. An entirely different look!

Only one job this morning, make the clevis for the end of the valve rod. The slot is 3/32" and the nut and bolt 7BA. I want to go on record again as saying I hate 7BA! I have yet to finish it to length and round the end but it took me an hour to do this with no errors. Now I want my breakfast!

I'm back indoors after a walk to book my eye test for tomorrow and a pop into Redmans for two tins of black spray enamel. I can feel a painting session coming on in the back yard!

Useful things have been done.... I have painted my castings, swept the paths at the front and treated them with a dusting of washing soda to kill the moss. There was enough left to do the back yard as well. I have a small load of washing in. That's quite enough honest endeavour for one day. Dinner is my next task!

I shall be in the shed at 06:00 as usual doing useful thins. Not quite sure what yet as I painted my castings yesterday.
After second sleep I have an appointment with James Bontoft for an eye test, another year has flown by.
Apart from that there are no outstanding items in my social calender...... :biggrin2:

I started the morning by mounting the base on it's final plinth. Than I fitted the bed to the base. Next I cut the valve rod clevis to length and rounded the end. There is still some refinement needed on the slot but I shall leave that until I am fitting the eccentric link. Then I measured and marked the stock for the crosshead guide bars and milled out the slot in it . That's enough for this morning, now I need my breakfast.

Morning
We enjoyed our trip out yesterday to East Riddlesdon and cannot believe we had never been before. I think we will go again in the Spring/ Summer to look at the gardens. It was 3.30 when we got back.

This morning I may do pilates in the studio to make up the classes paid for and missed over the last couple of weeks. This afternoon we are going to see our friend Wendy in Norden, we haven’t seen her for a bit. Thats our day, have a good one everone.

I shall be in the shed as usual at 06:00 for an hour of occupational therapy and then after my second sleep I look forward to a visit from Susan. This will be the last time I see her until the end of March as they go to Oz for a visit at the end of the month.....

Once again, just one task that has to be done accurately. I cut the crosshead guide bars to length and marked them for the six 5BA clearance holes that are needed for the holding down bolts. Then I punched the witness marks into the bed and the bars that ensure correct orientation when fitting. Tomorrow I shall mark the bed and drill and tap for the 5BA bolts. Now however I am chasing my breakfast.

Morning

A sewing morning today, followed by lunch out at the Lake. There will only be Bob and I as the other two couples are going to the i3 a lunch club Christmas lunch. We stopped going as so many of the venues were on the Hebden Bridge side of Tod which can be a hours drive from here . The forecast is cool and cloudy. I see our French home is expecting snow, quite unusual but it won’t last. Have a good day all

Morning Sue. As usual I get your report just as I am off to bed. I am expecting my Susan this morning so I'd better not sleep for too long! Snow in France but the met office is seeing nothing here beyond the mixed weather we are having now. So no White Xmas!

No such excesses here Kev.... Xmas to me was all about the kids and now I simply enjoy the music and the more interesting TV schedule! Not everyone's cup of tea but it suits me.
I shall be in the shed at 06:00 as usual and after second sleep will go to the Co-op for The remaining light veggies I need. I can see some cooking coming over the next few days.....
Later..... I am running late this morning due to Susan making such a good job of my bed yesterday so I am declining the shed. I shall have a sit, then an early breakfast and go back to bed for second sleep. I am not on piecework!

Morning

I like a bit of festive decoration but soon get bored with it. It all comes down on New Years day, as our eldest’s birthday is the 4 th. If we didn’t take them down her birthday cards would get lost amongst the Christmas things. The habit remains

Its a beautiful morning at the moment, a very colourful dawn. As usual a trip to Bacup market then later this morning my sister is coming to collect her dress and my cousin from Accrington is joining us before we walk down to our local for lunch. We try to get together two or three times a year. This afternoon Wendy and Keith are calling round for a cuppa, as later this week they are flying to Switzerland to spend Christmas with their family. Their eldest daughter and family live there.

Its going to be a dry day and at the moment sunny though very cold. Have a good day all

I'm back up after my sleep and have my shoes on ready for a waddle across the car park to the Co-op for my remaining Soft veggies and whatever else I need. It looks brighter than of late but of course is not high enough yet to qualify as sunny!
When I get back I shall roast my chicken.....

I shall be in the shed working on my crosshead guides at 06:00 and I may be able to put off veggie cooking until tomorrow. This doesn't mean that no cooking will be done. I could do some of it today and ease the load on tomorrow. We shall see. Vet likely as we are promised a wet day.
The light rain is welcome as it has dissolved the washing soda I put on the paths at the front and the yard at the back to kill the moss. It will be doiung its job more efficiently now.....

Morning

We have to be up early this morning as I have said I will be at Claire’s in Preston by 9.30 a.m and Bob has to be at the park to help set up the Santa special i think he will have a busy day. I will be attending a carol service where Erin’s school choir will be singing. It’s an annual event and the last year she will be there as she goes to High school in September, how time flies. I shall probably be back by 1.00 pm.

No plans for the rest of the day except to put a lamb shank in red wine in the oven. If the weather remains dry I may pick up some of the leaf fall in the back garden and do a bit of a last tidy for winter. If it rains i may tackle my sewing project I am doing with Maxine or finish my local history talk . Have a good day all

Morning Sue, I think the odds favour a rainy day..... Best of luck with the day.

Image

First thing this morning was to dismount the bed off the base, set it up in the VM and refine the finish of the bed of the crosshead by some careful milling. Then I further refines it by hand wit a file and some fine abrasives. Next I marked the bed with the front hole of each guide and drilled and tapped the first one. The next job was to bolt that bar down so that the other two holes for holding down bolts can be accurately Drilled and tapped. Problem was I hit a snag, I only had 5 bolts, one was missing so the next half hour was spent in an unsuccessful search for a bolt and cutting a 4BA one down so it would fit. Then I had to adjust the clearance hole in the bar to suit the new bolt and fit it. That got me to an hour and a quarter so I( have knocked off for breakfast. I have checked the other 5 bolts and they are OK.
