Good God you're right Kev. As far as I can see there's a light covering coming in from the west. So if the rain turns to snow overnight that's us locked in for another couple of days.
From here I've been watching the Salterforth 'pond' filling up nicely so I expect Earby to be in trouble any time soon.

Reports from Chorley say there's a reasonable covering over there.

Got up this morning to find there had been a fall of about an inch. A shock to the system!
Guess what, it rained yesterday and was still raining at 20:00. First thing this morning nothing happening but an inch of snow on top of the wall. The glass is down on 965mb. I know it gets a bit pessimistic when it's this low but I have checked and the corrected reading is 970mb, still extremely low. The forecast doesn't make for good reading, it promises us everything, snow, rain, Ice, heavy cloud and god bless us, happen a sight of the sun just before it gets dark! The WSW wind is strong and gusts to over 40mph at times giving us a high of 3C and a low of 1C but with a -5 or -6C wind chill all day. The outlook for the next five days is for cold but drier and calmer weather. A good day for Jigsaws I think!

It wasn't actually snowing and the rain was only very light so I went for a short walk. It's windy an d very cold. The slush and water on the ground is starting to freeze, it's already slippy up the back street and on the car park. If you are out early be very careful and aware that the yellow ice warning is accurate.
I'm glad I've been out, I didn't walk at all yesterday.
Later, I've listened to the shipping forecast and it tells the story with gales, some of them storm warnings, in all sea areas. Bridlington has a pressure reading of 967mb.
On the whole it will be slightly drier today.
Later.... It's not as cold and clear patches are coming in. I think the danger of ice may have receded.

I think we know it's Butts Dam and it's behind Briggs and Duxbury if anyone doesn't recognise it.
I had a letter to post and had a short walk in dry weather and I even had ten minutes sun! The forecast said we might get sunny spells before dark. Improving.......

Rain, sustained rather than heavy, in london, but wind was blowy, dry clear sunny and cold with more than a touch of wind in the morning. now more overcast and temps either side of 0 forecast for evening and morning. not going out weather really. Snowing - light and sticky , in Didsbury per the TV and the east side of the Pennines anticipating flood levels as the rivers drain the hills.

Yesterday everything brightened up in the afternoon, still cold but patches of sun. At 20:00 it was windy and damp but not raining. Same this morning and a clear sky, stars shining bright. I've just looked outside and it's breezy, dryer and perhaps some scattered cloud, hard to tell but fewer stars. The glass has risen to almost 979mb and I think it's still rising. The forecast is for a bright cloudy day with sunny intervals and the chance of a light shower that could be snow early on. The brisk west wind tends to the north at times and give us a high of 3C and a low of -1C with a -5C wind chill that makes the whole day feel sub zero so wrap up well! The outlook is for similar cold dry weather to this for most of the next five days.
05:30. Back from a short walk. It's dry and we have scattered cloud. The wind is brisk and wherever anything is exposed to it, ice is building. This is beginning to make the wet ground icy so be careful if you are out early. It certainly feels cold enough for snow if the early shower forecast happens.

Yesterday was cold but on the whole dry. At 20:00 it was clear apart from a few scattered clouds and we had a bright half moon in the west. First thing this morning it was the same but a bit more cloud, still calm, dry. partly clouded and a sharp frost. The glass is up on 985mb. The forecast is for a bright cloudy day with sunny spells in the late afternoon and the chance of an occasional snow shower at almost any time. The light west wind tends to the north at times and gives a high of 2C and a low of -4C with a wind chill of -4C at times. The bottom line is that its going to be below freezing all day so wrap up well. The outlook is for another two days of cold dry weather and then a transition to something that could be slightly warmer and wetter. We shall see, for the present, keep warm and watch out for ice.
05:00. I've been out for a very short walk as we have a very hard frost and the road and pavements are shot ice. It's clouded over and the wind is light but it's a very cold morning. Be careful!
Later... Listening to the forecasters it seems they may be firming up the forecast of snow this morning and possibly tomorrow as well.

'10cm blizzard ' just about sums the world up we live in. Gross exaggeration, we had less than an inch and it didn't last. At 20:00 it was calm freezing and dry with a partially clouded sky. This morning it's foggy and very cold, about -6C. The glass has risen to 991mb. The forecast is for a cloudy dry day apart from some early mist. The wind is very light and variable, favouring the north and ending up as NW this evening. The high will be 1C and the low -4C tonight. The wind chill could be as much as -3C. The outlook is for about the same temperatures but perhaps rain later in the week.

Just back from my early breath of fresh air. Didn't walk far as it is icy underfoot, about -5 or -6C. The early fog has cleared so that's an improvement but I think we are still clouded over, I can't see any stars. If you have to go out be careful, it's slippy underfoot. Many areas have snow today, it looks as though we are going to be lucky and escape it.

Yesterday was bright and dry for me and in the afternoon I had a good walk. At 20:00 it was calm, dry and partially clouded, freezing hard even then. First thing this morning we had 50% cloud and a hard frost, it's still the same. The glass is up slightly on 998mb. The forecast is for a dry bright day, cloudy but with sunny intervals later. The moderate west wind gives a high of 4C and a low of 0C with a chill of -5C at times dependent on wind strength. It will feel sub zero all day and the outlook is for similar weather but perhaps a touch warmer, rain/snow showers possible Tuesday and Thursday.
05:20. I've had a short walk. Some clear patches in the cloud, the odd star was visible. There's a light breeze and it's very cold as we have a hard frost. Definitely a morning for wrapping up well and being careful in case it's slippy underfoot.

We did it again yesterday. Barlick escaped what seemed to be the general rule across much of the country, a fall of snow. At 20:00 it was calm partially clear, dry and very cold. Same the first thing this morning and now. The glass is up again on 1010mb. The forecast is for a bright overcast morning until 11:00, after then we can expect rain/snow for the rest of the day. The wind will be a light to moderate southerly which will give us a high of 3C and a low of 2C with a wind chill of as much as -5C which means that it will feel sub zero all day. The outlook is for similar mixed weather for the next five days, warmer tomorrow, wetter on Thursday and colder again after that. It's winter but the days are lengthening and we are almost out of January. There is hope for us yet!
05:20. I've had a short walk. Despite what the forecast says we have a sharp frost under the overcast. It is calm and very cold but dry. Slippy underfoot, watch out for any surfaces that had water on them.
