Morning

All good news at Christies and we were home by 2.15 pm then Bob took the outside Christmas lights down and I returned inside to normal and did a little ironing and some of our current jigsaw.

Today is the start of normal activities with u3 art at Todmorden. We will not be doing lunch though as the Italian restaurant is now shut for 10 days. A well earned break I think. We have opted for a simple meal to night as we try to restore our weight !. I think we have just a few mince pies left to eat and a freezer full of food meat

My history talk on Monday has been postponed for two weeks due to the forecast snow. After I have done it I will send you the ‘script’ Stanley

Its cold, cloudy but dry. Have a good day everyone

I shall be in the shed for an hour of occupational therapy then breakfast and second sleep. What happens after that depends on what the weather is like. I do not believe the Met Office and will look out of the door when I get up after my nap!

Do one thing and do it well. I spent half an hour drilling the holes for the bolts that will fasten the two halves of the crank bearing to each other and considering how bad my eyes are did quite a good job. Notice that I have put the witness marks in that guarantee correct matching of the halves. Now for breakfast.

It was a pleasant afternoon at Wendys, a much smaller gathering of friends than in recent years and an indication of sad times this year with a number of our group of friends having died or are seriously ill.
Morning

I shall start the day on a sad note, in that the person mentioned above who was seriously ill , died yesterday after a short but sad illness. RIP Gail. You didn’t know her but everyone who did lost a lovely friend yesterday. A talented lady whose life was full, whose personality was fuller and who had a smile and kind word for everyone.

Now on a happier note its multi birthday day today. A long standing friend who we met initially as a neighbour in France , but who was baptised in the Church in Brierfield that Bob and I married in, is 91. A very talented friend and ex student of mine has a birthday today as does a sewing friend. But the big one, the big 50 is our eldest who lives in Coventry. Ed has organised a surprise party and lets hope the weather holds off long enough for us to get there. I think it will be a big birthday do . We are taking warm walking gear and wearing walking boots for our travel down. Snow today is quite a normal event but we could have done without it.
Have a good day all

I shall be in the shed for my usual therapy but after that I think I shall mainly be cowering inside and avoiding the weather.
This is no weather for old men......

Sorry but I forgot to do a pic of how I cheated this morning. What I did was bring in the small 4 jaw from Johnny's 1927 lathe in the front room and mount it in the SC chuck already in place on Mrs Harrison. That meant I could mount half of the crank pin bearing and centre it, (it isn't square.), and then turn the head round and then drill and tap it for the 32tpi plug which I shall make tomorrow. That was 45minutes of careful progress. Now I want my breakfast!

Morning

There is hardly any snow here in Coventry. It snowed, more like sleet for an hour yesterday evening but it looks very icy now. We will take our time coming home, possibly waiting till it starts raining here. The party was a great success with Julia very shocked but very happy to see all her close friends. I managed to get lots of photos and will attempt to compile a photo book for her as a keepsake. Have a good day all. Hope the snow is not too bad

Our home security cameras show a light covering. We are at Stafford and the rain continues. The forecast is worse further north. Travel is OK at the moment

We have wet sleet falling at the moment instead of snow Sue..... I think you've brought the rain North with you! :biggrin2: :good:

I shall be in the shed for my therapy this morning but see nothing that could tempt me out of the doors later. Too dangerous underfoot for me!

This was this morning's job, finish work on the crank pin brass and get it ready to be mounted on the connecting rod and fitted on the pin..... I can set it on one side for now and move onto other matters, most likely the making and fitting of the crosshead. But that's for tomorrow, now I want my breakfast!

Morning

Our journey home was wet and foggy with little snow till Knutsford where there was slush. The worst snow was definitely at home, quite a few centimetres but it was wet and already thawing when we arrived back at about 12.45. This morning it has thawed a lot however my french class is going on zoom which at least means I do not have to drive to Haslingden. This suits me well as I have a streaming cold which started yesterday, suddenly. I also have zoom yoga at teatime but that depends on wether I can breathe when I lie down. I think i shall be doing the jigsaw today and perhaps reading. Have a good day all

Sue, I hope your 'streaming cold' helps break the infection you have been battling! How is Bob's cold?

Bob is much better, hardly coughing at all now. All medication finished

That's good news Sue, thanks.
I shall do my usual stint in the shed, most likely on my crosshead. Later, if it looks sensible, I might chance a walk to the Co-op for milk and a couple of other things.... The snow is retreating but I don't know about the ice underfoot!

Today as I promised I have started on the crosshead. Stuarts are generous with the size of the stock for this so after some careful measuring and a fag packet drawing I started squaring and reducing it in the VM. No point in boring you with lots of pics so just one. I am making good progress and have knocked off for breakfast.
