The Earby History Society is having a map morning at the New Road Centre from 10 till 12. We have dug a pile of maps and plans out of our archive and will have them on display in the main hall. The computers in the library will be available for guidance on using websites such as Mario and The National Library of Scotland. Everybody is welcome!

Morning

It was an ok drive down yesterday and we had an excellent wine tasting session. It is all about tasting fine wine wines or should I say EXPENSIVE wines that you wouldn't ever normally drink. Needless to say the most expensive was not the most popular in the group. The tasting is done without us knowing the price of each wine, then we vote for our favourite, before the price is revealed. The reason for the high prices were discussed too and its not always about the wine quality, more about hand picking, mode of production, storage and transport . Very interesting. The theme was Portugal and the cheapest, my favourite was a red at £23, the most expensive was a port at £95 per bottle .
This morning is a walk round Liverpool, meet Jane for lunch then home. Have a good day all

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour working on my valve train..... At the moment I can't see a lot of incentive to go out, it looks as though it's going to be a cold overcast day.
I could always amuse myself by cooking some overspill swedes! Whatever happens I intend to remain warm and dry.....

You can have a good laugh at me if you want but it took me over half an hour to adjust the dimensions of the stock for the Eccentric rod. Then I had to shape it and mark it for the clearance hole for the 7BA bolt which is the pivot. Then drill the hole and finish the rod and fit it to the clevis without excessive play. That's done and it's a bit of a victory when you can't see! Now I can have my breakfast.

Morning

It was a beautiful day yesterday in Liverpool, clear blue sunny skies without a cloud. We did our Liverpool Mystery book, and met my sister for lunch in the middle of our clue search. In total we walked 7.7 miles, according to my smart watch, and then drove home. We were back by just on 5.00 pm and did little else all evening.

Today i shall change the bedding and do the usual ironing, prepare a little french for my conversation class tomorrow and try and finish the jigsaw as I need the dining room table to do some pattern drafting. The forecast was for snow overnight, we didn’t get any. Today it is forecast to rain after 12 .Have a good day all .

No need for a pic this morning..... I set to to make the eccentric as I need that before I can make the eccentric sheave accurately. I decided to use the cast iron stock provided by Stuarts and so this morning was taken up with thinking, drawing, careful measuring and then some bog standard turning in the lathe. No point boring you with that. It's gone well so far with no mistakes and after 45 minutes I decided it was time for breakfast.

Morning

Yesterday I received pictures of flood devastation at the little towns near our house in France. Luckily our house is on a slight rise but the fields around are like a river, and the roads across the river are completely impassable, and it was still raining, it makes our collapsed rose arch following the storm seem trivial.

I have french in Haslingden this morning, the n its a quick turn around for the funeral of our lovely u3a friend, Gail, who died suddenly, and quickly after Christmas following the diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumour. After the remembrance service at Tod, there is a private service at Burnley crematorium. We are not going to that, or the wake which I think will be packed. She was a much loved individual. At 5.15 I have zoom yoga.

Have a good day all

Today I finished turning the eccentric out of the CI stock. It is ready to be drilled for its set screw but that will do tomorrow. I've spent a productive 45 minutes in the shed and now I'm ready for my breakfast.

Morning

I must have missed it but it has been a very busy few days.

Yesterday the funeral was anything but cold. It was actually sunny and nearly 200 people packed into the small two roomed Chapel of Rest where the public service was held. It was standing room only, with many having to stay in the small entrance room with adjoining door propped open by people.I have never been to a funeral like it, so many people. There was laughter as funny anecdotes were read out and tears as one grandchild read a vivid image of life with her grandma . There were many tears all round. It was a beautiful but sad service for an extremely well loved member of Tod community.

This morning i am back at Wendys to collect another car load of boxes of art material . Hopefully the last load apart from large canvasses and paper . This evening is pilates and yoga at the studio. Have a good day all.

First job this morning was to drill and tap the eccentric for the grub screw that will lock it onto the shaft. Then I sharpened my mill cutter because I have some accurate milling to do of the strap. I ended this mornings stint with the strap faced each side to the required thickness. Much more to do of course but that's OK for this morning. I can enjoy my breakfast now!

Morning

The weather forecast is looking good today perhaps we will go out for a walk. Otherwise I shall start drafting my sleeve pattern for the jacket I am making with Maxine, now the jigsaw is finished and the dining table back in use. I can’t do any sewing as my sewing room is full to overflowing with Wendys art stuff. Today I also want to take our duvet to the laundrette having swapped the one on our bed for the one in the spare room. Its zoom pilates this evening and the last session of the week. Have a good day all

I spent over half an hour this morning refining the finish of the strap. Mainly milling the edges square ready for drilling for the two bolts that will hold the two halves together when it is bored to size. That's for tomorrow, there is no rush and I am ready now for my breakfast.

Morning

We had a fabulous walk yesterday. As we had to use the car to take the duvet to the laundrette, we started our walk from Whitworth rather than home. We walked round Cowm reservoir then along the old packhorse trail back towards Healey Dell cutting back to the reservoir as we left the trail. The trail was stony, rough wet and muddy and not very well trodden. It wasn’t a long walk, just about 3 miles but very pleasant indeed.

Today I was going to help Wendy pack boxes but she has had a gastric bug from overnight Tuesday. So have Barbara and Bill and I think the source is the Wake as they all went there. Anyway the out come is that I will not go. In the afternoon yesterday I managed to make my jacket pattern piece so I will make it up today using my small portable sewing machine on the dining table. This morning we are having the house alarm serviced.

Its due to be another nice day, have a good day all

I had a bit of a hold-up this morning. I drilled the strap for the oil hole and then the two bolts that hold the two halves together but then Stuarts let me down, there should have been two 4BA bolts for the eccentric strap but they weren't in the kit so I had to go searching through the treasure chests and it took a lot of time. In the end I made two out of 4BA studding, what a good job I had some in stock! I ended up after 45 minutes with the bolts fitted and I am ready to split the strap. Now for breakfast.

Morning

Well Wendy and Barbara were still ill yesterday. What a time for it to happen. Wendy and Keith move tomorrow but they have been unable to finish their packing. Wendy contacted me yesterday saying they would manage as their daughter and family will do it. I understand they will still have the keys to this house till midweek so anything left can be collected later. However we are all away together in Wales next week for a few days. I still intend picking up canvasses after art today, but it depends on how well she feels. It all points to Norovirus. I read an article yesterday on how much higher the numbers are this year

So today is u3a art followed by our usual lunch out. However having booked the table for 6 it looks like it will just be the two of us. This evening we will have our first meat delivery from the Bacup farmer who used to be on Bacup market. He is delighted with the response by his market customers, and his plans are to home deliver on Fridays and Saturdays eventually setting up a farm shop at his farm.

Dry, cool and cloudy today. Have a good day all.

Yes Sue. I heard an NHS spokesperson saying last week that whilst they were pleased with the way Winter Flu had subsided, Norovirus was taking the beds up! Perhaps bleaching my kitchen sink every day is a good thing!
I wish your butcher well. I have my meat home delivered by my butcher because I trust him. I could never say the same about the supermarket.
