Light rain rather than snow was our lot yesterday and at 20:00 we had light wind and rain. Same first thing this morning but the cloud was low and broken. Calm and dry now and the overcast looks more uniform. The glass is down slightly on 1004mb. The forecast is for a bright overcast day with rain coming in late tonight. We have a light WSW wind until nightfall when it eases and becomes a light easterly. The high will be 7C and the low 2C with a -3C wind chill at worst. So a milder day. 5 days of mixed cooler weather coming up starting with rain all day tomorrow and into Friday. Yellow warning for snow but I don't think that's very likely. We're sliding into February. A nasty month but a short one.
05:30. I've been out and had a look at the rabbit. It's mild, dry and overcast with a very light breeze. Enjoy it while you can, rain tomorrow.

Yesterday stuck to the forecast apart from a couple of rogue light showers. At 20:00 it was calm and dry but first thing this morning the rain had arrived and is still with us. The glass is down on 995mb and falling. The forecast is simple, heavy rain all day. The east wind starts moderate but gradually reduces during the day giving a high of 6C and a low of 5C with a -5C chill when it is at its strongest this morning. The outlook is for drier weather, mild tomorrow but then much colder for the rest of the week.
05:10. I've just had a look outside. Not much point going for a walk when I will have two hours exercise in the shed. I can tell you that it is still raining heavily and there is no sign of anything different. So scrub the early morning walk.....

It rained all day yesterday and was still damping at 20:00. First thing this morning it was overcast but dry and there is a brisk breeze. I've just come back from an early walk and it's still the same. Quite mild at the moment but the wind chills things down a bit. The glass has fallen to 986mb and is still falling slowly. The forecast is for a dry cloudy day. The brisk WSW wind gradually tends to the north as the day goes on giving a high of 7C and a low of 1C with as much as -4C wind chill. The outlook is for colder weather but dry until Tuesday when it could be cold enough for rain to fall as snow. But for the time being, it's dry. Wrap up warm and get some fresh air!

It stayed dry, just, yesterday and at 20:00 it was dry and breezy with a cold wind. By this morning that wind had established itself and first thing it was cold, dry and overcast. It's still the same now. The glass has risen to 995mb and could be falling again. The forecast is for an overcast but dry day. The constant east wind is brisk gusting to almost 40mph and tends later to ENE giving a high of 3C and a low of -2C with a wind chill of as much as -6C at times. This means it will feel like well below zero all day. The outlook is for similar cold weather and possibly snow and ice later next week.
05:00. No early walk this morning because I have just been outside and it is snowing. That wasn't in the forecast. I hope there isn't a lot! (I told you it was cold!)

Apart from that surprise flurry of snow yesterday morning the day was dry but bitterly cold in that wind! At 20:00 it was clear and cold with a light breeze, during the nigh and first thing this morning a clear sky with an almost full moon and lots of stars, cold and still a light breeze. The glass is up on 1001mb. The forecast is for a cloudy but dry day. The constant east wind will be light to moderate and gives a high of 2C and a low of -1C. The wind chill will be as much as -5C when the wind is at its strongest. So another cold day, it will feel sub-zero all day. The outlook is for similar weather for the next five days and we have a yellow warning for ice and snow on Tuesday.
05:20. I've had my inspection walk round the Pioneer car park. We have a light breeze, a clear sky with some thin scattered cloud but still a good, almost full moon. (It was full on Jan 28 but we didn't get the benefit because of heavy cloud.) We have a sharp frost and the air is like cold wine!

Yesterday was dry but bitterly cold in that wind. at 20:00 it was still breezy, dry and cold and it was the same first thing this morning with a clear sky and a bright moon. It's still the same but perhaps a little less wind. The glass is down on 990mb. The forecast is for a clear sunny day clouding over later. The wind is a constant light easterly giving a high of 4C and a low of 0C with a wind chill of -4C most of the day meaning that effectively we are sub zero all day. There is a yellow warning for snow and ice in force until midnight on Wednesday. Expect nothing better for the next five days and you won't go far wrong.
05:15. I've had my short walk, the Pioneer Car park is intact! We have a light east wind under a clear sky with a sharp frost so that wind is bitterly cold again. I note that the West Coast of the US is locking down ready for a severe winter snow storm. Over the years that has often been a precursor of snow and wintry weather here in the UK. We'll see!

Yesterday was cold but dry and bright. No sign of the snow forecast by the yellow warning. At 20:00 it was very cold, clear and a light breeze. This morning it was still cold and a light breeze but overcast and light snow falling.

Image

Here's what it looks like now, still light snow and cold enough for it to start accumulating.
The glass is down slightly on 988mb. The forecast is for snow and rain later all day. The constant East wind is brisk and gusts to over 30mph. It gives a high and a low of 1C but the real story is in the wind chill which is running at -7C at the moment and means that we are well sub zero all day. That will have consequences if it rains later.
The outlook is for it to be much warmer tomorrow and Thursday and then back to sub-zero weather again. There is a yellow warning in force tomorrow until midnight but that is for rain. February Fill Dyke black or white. Up to now it's living up to its reputation.
05:00. Not a lot of point going for a walk. I can tell you exactly what's happening. It's still snowing and accumulating. At the moment it's light, let's hope it stays that way.
In the US the forecasted winter storm has hit and is said to be one of the most severe on record.

The rain came in as Kev says and persisted all evening and through the night. It is still raining now and almost all our snow is gone. The glass is down on 984mb and the forecast for today is for rain all day until 18:00. The constant light easterly wind varies between NE and SE and gives a high of 6C and a low of 2C with a wind chill of up to -3C so it will be above freezing all day and feel warmer. Tomorrow will be similar to today and then we slip into four days of very cold weather but drier.

Today is the first day of Spring in the Chinese Lunar calendar and our page-a-day calendar had a picture of a branch with blossom. When we went into the garden this evening we saw we had the first two open blooms on our peach tree. It's been 25C today, mostly sunny. Even the water in my pond was 23.7C.

Tropical China!Yesterday was mild and rainy all day, flags never dry. Still the same at 20:00 and this morning. The glass has risen sharply to 1000mb and is still rising. The forecast is for the rain to persist until mid morning and then we can expect bright overcast with the occasional sunny spell. The light east wind is constant and gives a high of 6C and a low of 4C with a -3C wind chill all day. No frost. A similar day tomorrow to today, possible rain/snow on Saturday then much colder but drier weather for a while. It's Winter!

Yesterday followed the forecast, it dried up soon after dawn and stayed dry all day until 20:00 when it started raining. First thing this morning it was calm, mild and dry but heavily overcast. Still the same now but with mist. The glass is steady on 1001mb. The forecast is for the mist to persist until late morning and then bright dry overcast for the rest of the day. The light east wind is constant and gives a high of 7C and a low of 3C with a -2C wind chill. A very acceptable day. The outlook is for a colder and wetter day tomorrow, the rain could turn to snow in the strong east wind, below freezing all day and the next five days are much colder, expect permanent frost all week.

Yesterday was quite pleasant in the afternoon and at 20:00 it was still almost dry and calm. First thing this morning it was mild, a light breeze and light rain, I've just looked out, the wind is stronger and the rain is heavier. The glass is up slightly on 1003mb. The forecast is for heavy rain all day turning to sleet this afternoon. The wind is a moderate easterly tending towards NE later and gusting to 35mph. It gives a high of 5C and a low of -1C with as much as -5C wind chill later making it feel very cold this afternoon. The outlook is for a week of sub zero weather. Deep Joy! It's winter :biggrin2: .
