Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I shall be in the shed for an hour around 06:00 and later it might be inviting enough to get me out for a walk. The forecast is for sunny spells. Otherwise a quiet day looking after myself.... (I can see some Hoovering taking place!)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
This morning I marked the strap for splitting and then had a good chip chase before I set the VM up and slit the strap in two. Then I gave it witness marks so the cuts mated up properly. The next job was to mark the eccentric rod and drill it at the correct length for the 5BA countersink screw that will fasten it on to the strap. Here I was held up by Stuarts again, there was no 5BA CS screw in the kit. But I was lucky, I found a spare in the first treasure chest I searched. So I am ready to mark and cut the strap for the connecting rod. Now for breakfast!

Morning
Wendy, Barbara and Bill are just beginning to get over their virus though with considerable diminished appetites. Bob and I stayed away from Wendy and Keith yesterday, their daughter, granddaughter and son in-law took over the packing and removal of the remaining art materials when they got in from work yesterday evening. The removal men arrive at 9.00 this morning and the keys for the bungalow can be collected at 10. We hope to go round this afternoon to lay a piece of old carpet on top of the existing one, to protect it, in the room that is to be Wendy’s new art room . Keith and Wendy are staying in the local Premier Inn tonight and the big unpack will start tomorrow. Barbara and I hope to start taking boxes back on Monday afternoon.
This morning we shall have a short walk to the postoffice and Tesco express, otherwise we await a phone call from Keith . I just hope someone gives us the address
. We know the road but not the number, its actually not far from the Italian restaurant we go to, but sadly too far for Wendy to walk. A dull cloudy but dry day is forecast. Have a good day all

Morning Sue. It sounds as though you are in for another busy day. I hope it all goes well.
I am showing the way by going back to bed.....
By the way, it struck me the other day that in the discussions about second sleep no mention was made of siesta as second sleep.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It will be shed as usual first thing. I shall be boring my eccentric strap to suit the eccentric, always something I enjoy. I only have limited equipment but I can make as good a job of that as many far more comprehensively shops can.
At the moment I don't see anything tempting me out for a walk..... Our forecast is for an overcast and no doubt gloomy day!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Nice 45 minutes..... I like boring, it is such a good result! I set the boring head up and bored the eccentric strap to a fit on the eccentric. Then I changed the setup back to a 5/16" end mill because my next job is to mill out the slot in the strap for the eccentric rod and drill and tap for the 5BA CS screw. That was enough, I deserve my breakfast!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Well yesterday we decided to walk up to the Tesco Express in Whitworth rather than locally buying some croissants to have with a coffee when we got back, however it was lunchtime on our return so our buys were not consumed but frozen for another day.
We went via the path along the old railway line and returned via the main road, just under 5 miles the round trip. Its a fairly steady , hardly noticeable slow climb so did not feel very strenuous. About 3.00 we went up to Wendys new place, a very nice bungalow indeed, and laid the protective carpet down. I also helped unpack some of the boxes whilst Wendy kept out of everyones way. Asif kept a constant supply of bits and pieces coming from their old house and no doubt that will continue today. They sold their own home years ago, so they could enjoy the value it had accrued over the years now rent, and having been looking for a bungalow for years. This new rental has been completely renovated and is just like a show house. At the moment there are no curtain rails and thus no curtains but the landlord has given them an allowance for that. All in , a very good move, a one level home with a sunny small garden and patio doors from the dining room in to it.
It is going to be cloudy and dry with a little blip of rain in the afternoon. Have a good day all.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue, that all sounds good. We are having a brighter day than forecast and I have decided to start veggie buying today at the Co-op.
I think it'll be chicken roast tomorrow and more veggies from Gulam and then veggie cooking on Tuesday which I expect to be wet.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I shall be in the shed as usual but have decided to leave the chicken roast until tomorrow as I don't want dealing with the chicken to interfere with a veggie shop in Town Square after second sleep. The thing that has changed is this phase of eating less I seem to be in. It takes the pressure off the kitchen!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
The task this morning was to cut the channel in the eccentric strap into which the eccentric arm fits, then mark and drill and tap for the 5BA CS screw that connects it to the strap. This has been done accurately. That's all I wanted this morning and now for breakfast!

Morning
It was an ok day yesterday, after a morning of domestic activity such as washing, ironing and steam cleaning the hard floors I decided to get out in the garden. The rain never happened so the two of us had a productive time. Bob half built a new wooden arch to replace the one damaged in the storm and I removed soggy leaves, at last, weeded pots, cut back the perennial fuchsias and generally tidied up. I came in at 3.30 pm feeling quite pleased with myself. I then prepared some french for todays lesson and prepared a roast beef dinner. A good day all round.
This morning is french, and at some time I need to collect the duvet from the laundrette. I shall contact Wendy to see how she is and wether I can start taking her art stuff back. I have zoom yoga this evening. Its due to be dry and cloudy, reaching 9 degrees. Have a good day all.

My Mother would have said she had a wheel up her bum Gloria! I hope it all goes to plan Sue and that Wendy has improved a bit. Those episodes can take it out of you.
I am back from my veggie shopping in the Town Square. That wind is cool but not so bad if you're dressed for it. I put my Schofel waterproof on over my padded shirt because it's totally windproof. I shall think about making my dinner in a while.....

Inspecting the bush I moved on Friday. There's no current signs of it dying yet, which is a bonus.

Could be a wet day for moving boxes Sue if your forecast is anything like ours.
I shall be in the shed first thing for my usual hour but with my chicken in the oven roasting. After second sleep I shall have the chicken to deal with and then veggie cooking. I think that might well take care of the rest of my day!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I almost declined the shed as I had spent twenty minutes putting my chicken in to roast but then changed my mind and did 30 minutes refining the finish of the groove for the strap in the eccentric and then fitting the strap. It's a nice free fit but without excessive play. I have earned my breakfast!

Morning
Yes Stanley it could be a bit damp, luckily most of the boxes are plastic and just slide into an Ikea unit. However at the moment it is a rather nice bright sky, blue with streaks of pink. I shall go to Wendys about 11, I may even go back this afternoon, although only half of the storage units have been reassembled at the moment. Bob hopes the rain holds off as he has nearly finished making the new rose arch where the old one was destroyed by the storm. This evening is pilates and yoga at the studio. Have a good day all

All went well. I dealt with my chicken and as it hadn't started raining I went into Barlick and got a new battery for my watch at Huppachs. I'm back home now, Roasting tin is scoured and put away and I am ready to start cooking veggies but have treated myself to a sit down and a drink first!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
This morning I set about refining the worst casting in the kit, It is an almost impossible shape and much of the work is by guess and rack of the eye. I decided to do most of the work with the vertical mill and as you can see from the first image, it was sketchy to say the least. I finished up with the governor bracket ready for drilling and fitting onto the pad on the engine bed. I deserve my breakfast!
