I did, it was written off in a crash. I'm pleased with the 'new' one.

We have had Skoda Fabias for years now, they are so reliable. Our current one is a 16 reg and still going strong while son Craig has our previous one which we passed on to him in 2020.

My youngest offspring has a 2012 Fabia, very reliable and cheap to run.

Skoda aren't just some obscure foreign car maker. They are one of the worlds leading engineering companies, their machine tools have always been top class. It's no surprise to hear their cars are good. I'm glad you've got rid of that Friday Car Kev. Best of luck with this one! I hope the financial aspect wasn't too damaging.
Here at the hutch, I shall be in the shed first thing enjoying a bit of finish turning instead of muck shifting which can be very boring! I shall decide on what to do with the rest of what looks like a murky wet day later on..... At a guess it will be staying in and keeping the lights on!

Since becoming part of the VW Audi Group, the reputation of Skoda has come on in leaps and bounds. My dad had a Skoda in the late 1970s, it wasn't very reliable.
The financial hit, for me, wasn't as bad as it could have been. Selling it on to webuyanycar softened the blow a bit.

That's all good Kev. Now for at least 15 years of reliable service....



I have to be so careful when I'm working to finish size. I find that I have to check and re-check everything because I make silly unforced errors. So, just one shaft with the legs turned down to finish size plus one thou allowance for polishing when I do the final operation of finishing and polishing the webs. One down, two to go so I know exactly what I am doing tomorrow. Now for breakfast.

Morning

Just had my best nights sleep ever in a Premier Inn, i usually find the rooms too hot or too cold but in the words of Goldilocks last night it was just right. Today we are spending out and about in Portsmouth and Southsea, doing another of the City Mystery walks around Southsea. The weather is a little damp but not horrendous. The ferry leaves at 8.00 this evening and we are on a brand new boat, all eco friendly running on Liquid Natural Gas and hybrid electric drive. I wonder what the cabins will be like. My thoughts as well David, we haven't heard from him for a while.....
I shall be in the shed finish turning the legs on another crankshaft. I'm itching to open the parcel containing the castings but will finish the three crankshafts first. Once they are sat on the kitchen table as eye-candy I will open the castings.....
We are promised a nice day so a walk and a sit is on the cards for later.

I hit a good seam this morning and had a productive hour. I now have three crankshafts turned to size and what remains now is to clean the lathe, change the chuck and then finish polish the shafts. But that is tomorrow. This morning I am content with four error free crankshafts turned out of solid and I want my breakfast.

I am back up after a good second sleep and It's a beautiful sunny day....

Morning

Arrived in France, all good apart from dead flies and spiders webs . Yves has cut the grass so it looks fairly tidy. Its damp, grey and chilly. We have shopped on the way in for food for the weekend so no need to go out again today. I will uncover the pots by the door and sweep though, nothing too strenuous. . U3 a wine group online this evening . Have a good day all
