“The Serpent last night was a good opener but you have to have your wits about you as it's a time jumper between scenes. Will give it another go, that bloke is a nasty one.“

Yes we thought the same, I think it has the makings, we will stick with it and see.

I'll consider it....
Last night I found a film on Berlin, part of a series. This was 1945, there are others, I shall seek them out as last night's was good. (Mainly because it was filmed in the Berlin I knew.)

Well it’s certainly keeping the attention.

I bumped into this film last night on Talking Pictures TV. Dulcima Realistic authentic looking Gloucestershire setting, and a great performance by Sir John Mills. Watched it from start to finish - that doesn't happen too often.
Very Cider with Rosie'ish.

The channel is my 'comfort blanket.

Later research revealed that the heroine Carol White died in USA at only 48 years old. That's a shame.

Winter Walks at 7pm on Beeb 4 all week. Looks good, I'm looking forward to Simon Armitage.

Watched it, very good. It’s been done in the same way as one a year or two back with the lady and her mobile on a stick, don’t think it’s the same lady though.

No it isn't the same lady Gloria, the earlier ones were with a Keighley artist called Shanaz Gulzar. This series has a different person each night.

Oh that’ll be interesting then, different people.

Watched Trace last night on BBC1, second part tonight, it’s looking very good.

Agree on Traces, makings of a good one. Noticeable how old Selena Scott looked, not very impressed with her presentation, will look at the others though.

Selina Scott? Have I missed something, is she in it?

You were watching her last night! That's how much she has aged. :laugh5:

Was that her on the walks programme? I give up, think I’m going daft. I’d honestly never have recognised her.

I had to Google her to make sure it was her as it said on the tin. Maybe the walking gear aged her or her time in the sun over in the U.S.. Her stick coverage was not very good she missed out a lot of Linton really and only showed the pub in Apptrick, lacklustre conversations as well I thought. "Hello, what are you doing." to the bloke fishing in the river and the one digging his allotment. I suppose this comes from her TV journo background of asking the bleeding obvious. :extrawink:

It can't be easy using the 360° cameras and finding something to talk about whilst walking! I quite like the amateur feel of the filming.

I don't know why they don't just use an short extension pole carried in the rucksack and shove the camera on that. Could be on a gimbal just like the stick is to keep it steady but would leave the walker free with both hands. Probably filmed with a GoPro or similar but you can get the kit for mobile phones.

I thought Shanaz Gulzar was very good at it, and she seemed genuinely interested in the other people she met.

Yes I watched that one as well Gloria which was very good. No need to carry the stick though. Another thing which stuck me was that she set off just after sunrise and finished the 6.5 miles just before sunset. No real challenging terrain. It's only a 3 hour walk even if you are taking your time and the days are somewhat longer than that even in Winter. It was about this time last year I think when it was filmed before the first lock down.

I think the lady poet is still by far the best. He kept losing my concentration last night.

He wasn't particularly interesting, I just enjoyed the walk. I think it's Simon Armitage tonight, I'm a big fan so I'll be glued to the set. :laugh5:
