Cooked a chicken yesterday on a bed of onions & garlic, served it with roast potatoes, a roasted eating apple (which was lovely) and cauliflower. Made the gravy with the onions & garlic - the only trouble was I am knocked off my feet by a bad chest infection which has killed my appetite so I could only eat half of it.

Had a very stingy day yesterday, a very small cheese and tomato butty for dinner and a small sausage and fried egg one for tea. Got the munchies but resisted and ate fruit instead.

Pasta tonight, with Wild Red Salmon forked through. Just finishing off my glass of wine watching Homes under the Hammer.
House guest out to dinner with friends tonight, so Febby and I ate dinner on trays in front of TV...we have been making acquaintance with our dining table ever since house guest arrived...so it was nice to be more relaxed tonight!
Two more days of airs and graces to go... :laugh5:

Yes thanks Maz, much better after 3 amoxcillin & 6 steroids (amoxcillin over three doses & steroids all at once this am.) - must be quick workers.
I forgot to mention before hubby brought in 2 sticks of rhubarb from the garden a couple of weeks ago, not enough on their own for a pie. So I stewed them and added them to some stewed apple and made a pie of that, hubby said it was absolutely delicious.

I miss baking my fruit pies.... But they are not good for me now.
Had a sausage butty for dinner and old fashioned Egg and chips for tea. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the best. As I ate it I reflected that many people would be paying huge amounts for their meal in a hotel or restaurant but they wouldn't enjoy it any more than I did mine.... Part boiled the chips before frying... lovely!

Glad you are on the mend, Moh.

House guest has now left (eeee..." Wot a week it's bin" as Alan Carr would say).
Lovely to see friend, but nice to be back to normal.
Something simple tonight but haven't decided yet...may even opt for Chips, Eggs and Baked Beans.
I was just stripping the guest bed etc, when stepson rang and asked if he and girlfriend can come and stay the weekend ( and apparently there is a holiday Monday this weekend too). So we had better make the most of the quiet before they arrive! Thankfully, girlfriend's 3 year old will not be in tow... :grin:

Boiled some spuds and carrots and when drained put some whey butter on them to melt. Had straight spuds and carrots for dinner. I had some bits in the fridge that needed using and one or two other odds and sods so I fried two rashers of bacon, half a blood pudding, two tomatoes and two eggs and had them on top of some spuds and carrots. Nice combination!

Hardly weird Maz, just unconventional and it gets like this at the end of the week when I'm clearing the fridge out. Yesterday I had the last of the spuds and carrots with added peas and half a black pudding for dinner. Tea was the end of the loaf toasted with baked beans, the other half of the black pudding, some bacon that needed using and a fried egg on top. Butcher's day today and an empty fridge!

I trust your explanation...feel awful you felt I needed photographic proof...and hopefully it is not just " butchers day" but "veg" day too ( as I see you are sadly lacking my dear :laugh5: ).

I am sitting here slightly cross with my husband. He made arrangements for our weekend guests to arrive for dinner before 6pm. He is hopeless at making dinner arrangements and something always goes wrong! It is now just after 7pm, and they have just confirmed they are arriving at 8 pm AS ARRANGED. I could strangle him...will have to reheat Roast and all trimmings/extras/gravy. I don't ask for much but I do expect him to get dinner arrangements right. Grrrrr...
I've told him that is the last time he is getting dinner arrangements wrong. From now on he can book a restaurant! I am hanging up the apron...

I've got my bases covered today, Moh. Beef Curry chugging along nicely in the slow cooker.
Our visitors are very disorganised and can't seem to decide what they want to do, or what they want to see, or if they want to eat in or out, so if they don't want Curry later I shall freeze it.
( and if they don't stop throwing back the alcoholic drinks they will be in bed by 4pm and get no dinner at all. I know they are on a little holiday, but I don't know how folk can drink so early in the day!)

Maz, you need one of these tea towels! I have often wondered about having a topic which is images of people's cupboards, fridges and bookshelves. You can learn so much from them! By the way, no veggies because I don't keep them in the fridge, they are in the open at room temperature and get used quickly. Remember we don't have your hight temperatures....
Haslett butties and brown sauce X 2 yesterday on bread given to me by Kath....

T-towel would come in handy...
Especially as our indecisive guests, having seen nothing of our surroundings simply because they could not make up their minds about anything (!), have decided to leave today instead of tomorrow!
So they are just sitting about sobering up enough to drive! I have suggested a walk by the river would be nice, but no takers.
( can't believe it...there is nowt as strange as some folk).
So they won't be getting any Curry, we shall enjoy it once they have departed.

It has been a funny week all round really... :geek:

It's only a five minute walk to the greengrocer Moh so I get my veg as I need them. Got enough spuds and carrots on Friday to do two days. Cooked half of them yesterday so spuds carrots and peas for dinner and spuds carrots and sausage for tea. I also finished something that Susan forced me to buy to try it. A Soreen malt loaf ready sliced for toasting. Nice, but I wouldn't go out of my way for another.... Cox apples are lovely as well this year....

Today: Roast Turkey, Crispy roasted Maris Pipers and new potatoes, chopped carrot and swede, button sprouts, pigs in waistcoats, and gravy based on yesterdays individual steak pies, with red wine and honey in the mix.

Had the rest of the spuds and carrots with added peas for dinner. Boiled a fresh batch of veggies up and had them with peas and sausage for tea. I shall put a loaf in now....

Had roast pork, apple sauce, sage & onion stuffing, new potatoes, brussels, carrots & gravy yesterday - similar today with cold pork.

Cooked two pork and apple burgers with onions and tomatoes. Had the gravy and onions on the last of the spuds and carrots for dinner and a burger butty for tea with fresh home made bread.
