I've never heard it before Sue and from the look of it neither has Cathy!
I shall be in the shed for therapy first thing before breakfast. The weather forecast says we will have heavy rain this morning and it has just started raining so I suspect it will be another day indoors.

This morning I turned my attention to the piston and rod. I hadn't an immediately available piece of bronze and rather than cut a blank out of a bronze rod I decided to play out and make a steel piston with rings. I might regret this later but I can always scrap it and make a bronze one. My picture is of the piston cut to size and with a groove cut for the piston rings. I'll finish it tomorrow and see what I think. Right now I am focussed on breakfast.

Morning

Its a bit of a dull wet day today which is a shame. Originally the party we are going to was planned for the garden but I think we will be inside. We shall have a cooked breakfast as usual then drive to Levens, calling to see Claire and family in Preston on the way up. We are staying in a hotel there overnight and driving back in the morning. Have a good day all

Morning Sue..... I don't know what it's like with you but in Barlick the forecast was heavy rain until about now and then light showers. It was never heavy and now we seem to have a reasonably dry morning. I hope you experience the same....
I spoke too soon, I just stuck my head out into the back yard and we have very light mizzle blowing on the wind, just like yesterday. Heavy rain forecast for this evening now.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes yesterday. We have coffee with an old friend to go this morning and a quick visit to a relative in Warrington and we can head home! It's a bit showery here after rain overnight, but the sun has shone for most of the time we have been here.

"We are in Chester, staying at the Boathouse Inn where Colin and I first met, celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. It's a very different place now to the Newcastle Breweries boozer where I worked behind the bar and Col was a customer."

Well done - that's a great thing to do. Got me thinking. Here's my equivalent (though neither of us worked there) from 1972 which I'm surprised to see is still going, and seemingly prospering. I think a Blue Plaque (two actually) may be in order.

Just arrived in Levens, beautiful sun here and warm, but rain due to arrive within the hour apparently.

Glad you had a good break in Chester Wendy, and that the weather held for you.

The forecast proved to be correct with heavier rain in the evening.
I shall spend an hour in the shed first thing and later this morning will go to the Co-op for my milk an d perhaps a spell on traffic duty.

This morning I tapped the piston 2BA and parted it off. Then I made the 1/4" piston rod and fitted it and finally I fitted the rod and piston to the cylinder and fitted the two CI piston rings. It is a good fit and I shall press on and see how it turns out. If I don't like it I can always either install a soft packing seal or make an entirely new bronze piston. Now I am after my breakfast.

Morning

The rain held off for the afternoon party so much so that as originally planned it was held in the garden. Janet had done an afternoon tea refreshments and had managed to track down and invite people from several different aspects of Mikes 80 years. People started to drift away after about 2 to 3 hours having spent a very pleasant time chatting. Mike was overawed and it was lovely to see him looking so well. We left with Wendy and Keith about 5.30 and went back to the hotel for a cuppa, followed by an evening meal in the restaurant. We had light rain here about 9.00 pm

We shall leave after breakfast and will be home by lunch time. We have a few bits and pieces eg toiletries we can now finish sorting with our packing ready to leave tomorrow morning. Today and in fact all week the weather forecast is good. Sadly where we are heading on our holiday the weather forecast is not as good. We seem to be making a habit of this , going on holiday and having damper cooler weather than at home, This seems to be the same forecast for every area we are visiting, but we will be having a beautiful change in scenery and looking forward to it. Have a good day everyone.

I've had a good two hours second sleep and am having a hot drink before I sally forth for a walk and some milk.....

No earth shaking moves today. In the shed early doors to work on the engine and later after second sleep making sure I am sat by the phone ready for my telephone call from the practice nurse to tell me the results of my Diabetes clinic and blood test. What I am hoping for is s 12 month repeat prescription like she gave me last year.... That worked well once we got it in place.

Small steps. This morning I started by cleaning Mrs Harrison so I could harvest my non ferocious chips. Then I made the piston rod gland from the rough casting and fitted it to the front lid, making sure it passes through the target end on the bed. Now for breakfast.....

Morning

Its 5.30, time to shower and dress, then its a brisk walk down to St Pancras station for 6.30. We shall breakfast after we have gone through French immigration and passport control. We have been advised to be early as it can take some time, there being many large groups on the train. The train leaves at 9.01 arriving in Brussels at 12.01. We will have a couple of hours there, time for lunch, then a train to Cologne. It was a smooth trip dow yesterday leaving home at 10.15 and we were in London for 3.00.

The days forecast is good but we won’t see much of it. Have a good day all

Another small but accurate step. Marking measuring and drilling the clearance holes for the 5BA studs in the piston rod gland transferring those hole locations to the lid and drilling and tapping for the studs. I didn't forget the witness mark to ensure correct orientation. Then I installed the studs and the clearance holes were a perfect fit. I deserve my breakfast.

I feel old. A young lady has just given up her seat for me in the waiting hall. There will be more space when the Paris train goes out. Its just like an airport lounge and very busy for just two trains

Well done that young lady, you don’t see people giving up their seats very often nowadays.
