He's a year older than I am, give him my best. I know what it feels like!
I was boring yesterday, but satisfied. I had spuds and carrots with sausage twice....

Pass on our birthday greetings too, Moh.

Poached Tasmanian Salmon tonight. Haven't decided what to have with it yet...not sure if I will go Salad or Veg.
I am always hopeful that dinner will just appear on the plate, but it never does!

Speaking of Australian fish - there was a fascinating programme on TV last night about tuna fishing in South Australia. Operating from Port Lincoln, three boats 'rounded up' huge quantities (hundreds of tons) of blue fin tuna, in a circular net, then towed them to port - still all alive. Here they were put into a fish farm, and fattened up until eventually being sold to the Japanese sushi market. All quite amazing, and you wouldn't believe it if you hadn't seen it.

Oh yes, Tripps...it all seems normal to us to have fish farmed that way.
The downside is we cannot buy any Tuna that has not been tinned off-shore! We used to have the cannery at Port Lincoln, but now it all gets exported (Indonesia) to get canned...so I rarely buy Tuna...because it's done so many miles and the labelling is so confusing. I don't trust the handling of fish in other countries.
The Japanese certainly get the best of our Tuna industry...and I do wish they would stop slaughtering our Whales!

Have taken Chicken Breast from freezer. Again, haven't got around to thinking what I shall do with it.
I fear I am going thru one of my "not interested" cycles when it comes to cooking. Just the combination of effort, always having to decide what is for dinner, and a husband who couldn't tell you what he ate for dinner half an hour afterward (!), gets a bit boring now and then. I am sure it does for all of us that cook on a daily basis and try to serve healthy meals. Also, I seem to be going thru a stage of not being terribly hungry at dinner time, which could be due to the warmer weather.
It all adds up to anarchy in the kitchen...

I have a different reason for cooking in a say that takes the least time, I am in shed mode again and don't want to waste any time.

Yesterday I chucked a piece of beef onto a bed of onions and cooked it slowly until it fell to bits. Had a plain egg butty for dinner but chucked the cooked carrots and spuds in with the stew and had some of that for tea. When there was room I dropped frozen peas in so I have plenty to go at today.

Had a fantastic meal at The White Swan in Fence last night - not cheap but worth every penny. There are only 3 choices for each course so you know everything is freshly cooked - gourmet food at a good price.
Small beef roasting joint tonight, with roasties & carrot & parsnip mash.

It looked even nicer with the peas in it Liz. One helping left for today but it's butcher's day so I shall not starve.....

Thought I would try something different for tonight's dinner...decided to make Swedish Meatballs (minus the garlic of course). Went to grind a little Black Pepper into the mix and dropped the grinder on the kitchen floor. Peppercorns went in all directions! What a mess! ( and I think I said a naughty word...)

If they are like spaghetti you'll be picking them up got days.....
Two small haslett butties for dinner. Spuds and carrots on their own for tea, lovely simple cheap grub!

We had a similar problem Maz. - hubby was filling the pepper grinder and the ones that were still in there dropped on the kitchen floor, I am still finding them.
The beef we had last night was from Morrisons and was really tough - I had not over cooked it, it was a strange joint - so tonight I will cook it with onions in the gravy.

I am still finding them too Moh. Vacuumed again this morning and heard some going up the spout, and found some in my apron pocket too. About two thirds of the PepperGrinder contents fell out, as it came apart where it screws at the neck.
So Peppercorns have been added to shopping list...( I read somewhere that Black Pepper contains a narcotic, though it is in such minute quantities that it is ineffective unless you can down a bucket of it, which is hardly likely!, but still an interesting fact.)

No disasters to speak of in the kitchen today. I had bought some lovely fresh spears of Asparagus when we did our veg shop, so this morning I made a Chicken/Asparagus/Sweetcorn Mornay (simmered the Asparagus first in small amount of water with a smidge of Salt). Took extra care when adding the freshly ground Black Pepper. Also did a pan of spuds and mashed them, then spooned it on top of the Mornay. So dinner will be easy...chuck Mornay in the oven and boil a few Baby Peas.

I slow cooked six small chilli sausage on a bed of onions with beans. Dinner and tea was the spuds and carrots with the sausage casserole. Not much left at teatime and I got the munchies later so I had a bacon butty on a teacake.

I have some shin beef & onions in the slow cooker, I shall use half to make a meat & potato pie tonight and freeze the rest for another time.

Shin beef is so good Moh, the nearer the bone the sweeter the meat certainly holds true. You've reminded me I have some ox tail in the freezer....
Yesterday was Burger butties, onions and gravy butties X2 plus a bacon butty at teatime to fill a corner....
