Some more patient turning, 10 thou cuts, and I have Blank No. 3 in the lathe ready for cutting. The only incident was when I tried to improve my cutter and buggered it up. When I got it back in the lathe the tip broke so I installed a new one and that cured everything. Now I can go looking for my breakfast with a clear conscience!

Re sewing machine needles - best be on the safe side and check you household insurance policy for 3rd party cover .
Can't be too cautious -
Pin priick injuries. Good grief - live a little dangerously.

Morning
Bob thinks our legal liability clause covers us, as it would any visitor and as no money is exchanging hands it is not a business. As it happens the routine checks on the machine showed a clean internally well looked after machine though a little dirty on the outside, and the reason why it wasn't working was simply a special setting had been left in position that a non sewer would not know about. Lucy is delighted.
It was a nice day yesterday. Our morning was taken up with the optician and the blood test. I left Bob at the opticians and walked up to the Infirmary for my blood test, and then walked home up the hill. I was nearly home before Bob passed me in the car. He was delayed because the opticians computer system went down which meant everything had to be recorded manually having to search for record cards and check Bobs existing prescription by manual checks rather than looking it up on the computer. Anyway the good news is neither of us need new lenses or glasses. We both had new last year. In the afternoon I cut back a few dead plants in the garden and cleared the windfall apples
This morning I have a couple of last minute tasks to do in preparation for my own sewing session this afternoon with Maxine. I also want to pop over to see Wendy to take a birthday present before she goes to Majorca for a week , tomorrow . This evening is zoom pilates . Its due to rain this morning but ok this afternoon. Have a good day all.

Using the bus and train to get to Leeds for my go in the MRI scanner, year 7. If I pass this one I think my last will be at year 9 in two years.
As long as the M6 bus comes on time I should have 10 minutes to catch my train,(100 yard walk from the Fire Station stop) If its late I'll miss it and have to get a later train to Leeds, I think the next direct one is about half an hour later. My appointment isn't until 4pm so I have loads of time for a bit of lunch and the walk up to LGI. I have an open return so I can use any trains I want to get there and back. Its due to rain in Leeds until about 1pm.

Well that's a relief. You can't be too careful with visitors in the proximity of sewing machine needles, and the well know risks attached.
For the avoidance of misunderstanding - the above was an attempt at humour. I doubt I shall bother again.

"

And a good one. Don't give up that easily David, I for one appreciate the effort.....
I shall be in the shed for my morning hour of therapy. The eccentric turning is going well, no cock-ups! Two to go so there's time yet!
The forecast looks dry so every chance of a walk this morning, I need some peppers and tomatoes to go with my roast chicken......

Oh but we did laugh. I have had many an accident with sewing machine needles , some humorous some not so, but we did think it a valid point anyway
We are sat at Christies, Bob has a 9.00 am appointment for a routine scan.it was no food from 3 yesterday so we had a late lunch before I went to Maxines. We were late in bed as we had to wait till his pre treatment medication kicked in properly. We set our alarms for 6.15 this morning so we could be out and on the road for 7.00. Neither alarm went off so it was nearly 6.30 before we got up. Anyway we made it by 8.30 despite horrendous queues on the motorway. There is a bus strike today. We could be here hours now, it was 5 hours last time when the procedure was less invasive.
So that will be our day, the weather forecast is good and hopefully the routine procedure forecast is too. Have a good day all
Bob has just been called in . I shall wait a bit then pop down for a coffee and buy us some sandwiches for lunch. He will be starving

Morning Sue.... I feel for Bob, I know it's all sensible and worth it but my God, it doesn't half eat up your lives. I hope you enjoy your coffee and that Bob enjoys his sandwich. (And a good result.....) As for traffic.... that would be a killer for me. Can you believe that I can remember a time when we didn't have traffic jams.... ?
I'm off for a wlk and some peppers and cherry toms to go with my chicken....

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour and hopefully this will be my last morning of eccentric turning which is possibly the most demanding sort of turning I ever do.... If it stops raining this morning I shall probably get a short walk in but I doubt if I will be sitting on any benches!

A welcome sight. I have finished eccentric turning and have four blanks with the 3/8" crank pin cut and polished. I have taken the four jaw independent chuck off Mrs Harrison and replaced the Taylor three jaw SC chuck so I am ready to move into the next phase of crank shaft making tomorrow. But at the moment, breakfast is on my mind, I deserve it.

Clearing the last of Steve's shed and garage at our old house. It has been a big job! I've hired some chaps to do the packing, lifting and removal.

Sounds interesting Julie, did he have a workshop there anything special
Yesterday went well we were back home by 1230 munching the M&S sandwiches I bought at Christies. Even better Bob had a typed report giving him the ALL CLEAR. It was a nice afternoon so we did a bit of garden clearing between us and promptly filled the brown bin that had been emptied in the morning. It was good to get the fresh air.
Today not so nice, it has rained all night with more forecast this evening. We have slept late after yesterdays early start. The plans are a trip to Matalan this morning followed by lunch out with Barbara and Bill. Bob is out this evening. The engineers are having a tour of the sheds for the East Lancs Railway in Bury. Have a good day all
