Thankyou Wendy for your concerns, Yodel is not one I have used, sometimes things arrive in a car with a nice lady, but that only happens when I have been offered free postage, I edited my post to say that the item arrived shortly after writing. Today I expect a few more with the postman, yesterday He asked me to give him a break in December, and I promised to try. Mary says I am an EBAY addict, but I can't resist a bargain. Yesterday brought a beautiful Shagreen ladies cigarette case at a third of its normal selling price, unfortunately the internal gilding is spotted so I have fitted it with a red lining, when I replace the elastic retainer it will make a lovely Business card case.

Waiting for the vet to arrive to give the ponies their annual dental check-up and a tetanus jab. They are a bit grubby, so an hour or more of vigorous grooming is called for to get them fit to be seen by visitors.

Will you be curry-combing Colin as well?
I shall be exploring the capabilities of my new eye as it settles down and works up to speed. I'm doing the site with no glasses but I can tell that my brain is relying on the first eye to be done. Weird..... my brain is selecting which eye to use and you can see the lag as it adjusts.

Something I will be doing today is looking for a "stand-by" hotel in case I can't get me and dad into the Tempest. I seem to think I may have asked the question before but does anyone know of a nice hotel in the Earby / Nelson / Burnley district, preferably licensed and does bed, breakfast and evening meal? It doesn't have to be top notch, but certainly comfortable and clean.

Stone Trough at Kelbrook or Spread Eagle at Sawley just as handy as Burnley.

Colne library this morning for me. There is usually someone wanting help with their family history research...a welcome distraction from my endless index.

Thanks all for all the suggestions, I should be able to book something from one of those. I came across the Alma Inn courtesy of Google. Just got to wait for confirmation of the funeral date now and I shall book either for one or two nights for us and certainly a night for dad also, where he normally stays are on holiday the expected week of the funeral.

Not much today, but yesterday after hospital visit, called down Burneley and got all Christmas cards and gift vouchers for family - all cards written by mid afternoon - sorted!!! (Hubby thought we were only going for a birthday card for our daughter - quite put out when he had to get his credit card out!!)
Say only a little but say it well.

The Alma had rooms, dad and I are safely booked in for Tuesday night. Thank you for the suggestion, the Craven Heifer was full as was the Tempest which I thought may be so.

I am determined that next time I travel to the area, I will not be taking courses or taking exams. Next time will be pleasure and time for me to gad about. Now then, now then, what's the etymology on that then?

Gadfly, characterised by darting, erratic progress. Late ME 'gadden' for fellow soldier or companion but corrupted in 16th C to wanderer or vagabond.
Shopping today and a bit of light reading. I'm not pushing myself too much at the moment! Nice signs of improvement, yesterday I had to use my readers to function on the site, much better this morning and I can manage easily with no glasses... Onward and upwards1

How easily we choose the correct words! Erratic progress describes perfectly my journey through life! Thanks Stanley. Well done those new eyes, 10/10 for perception.

Getting better every day....... One of my ladies asked me yesterday morning how the Mk 2 eye was going on. I told her it must be OK as I had never realised before how beautiful she was.... I know! But she was absolutely delighted!

Oh Stanley...that is cheesy!
Here was I thinking you will be able to see the dust now.

A joint effort, Febby and I washed and POLISHED my car today. ( I've got sore chest muscles now). It was a hot day and he sat and had a beer half way through, but I just kept going. Shines like a diamond now ( the car...not the chest muscles!)

Postman delivered two books yesterday, with the one on Monday Mary is already muttering clutter. Shortly I will have to re-organise my book shelves, when I first moved in with Mary it was necessary to selL over 1500 books. Marys home was far smaller than my own, and the only solution was to downsize, Today I shall give it a good coat of looking at.

Travelled to Cologne today for a long weekend at two Christmas markets. It was a long drive on a coach and a trip through the tunnel

I would feel uncomfortable if someone said that to me...yes.
But then I do not take compliments well...never have...they make me feel weird...as if I am occupying the wrong body!
I spend as little time as possible looking in the mirror each day ( Cazza will tell you my clothes never match and I don't take a lot of time over colour coordination). And I would accept having an interesting face, but not a pretty one.

The weather is cool and cloudy but I shall be wrapped up warm in my fleecy lined walking trousers and quilted coat. All set for a days shopping in Cologne.

I am not impressed with the food in the hotel. Last night they left us a hot buffet for our late arrival, which was cold. Thus morning cold scrambled egg and funny burnt strips of bacon also cold. The cold buffet looked lovely but we opted for warm as were going to be outside all day. Ok tomorrow it's continental.

A shopping day in Cologne...sigh...hardly compares with my run around the supermarket this morning. Mind you, our weather is very pleasant, parking is free ( and easy), and I didn't need padded clothing. Breakfast before I went was nice too.
Tell us what you bought, Sue.
Are you on a coach trip?
We recently did one of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Fabulous...though I couldn't wait to get off that &@++%| bus after 15 days being welded to the seat. I am not good at sitting still.
