Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Yummy..though cruel of you to show that picture of butter melting into a hot crumpet to someone on a fasting day!
I got some food preparation done yesterday ready for Xmas visitors, I just need to make some space in the freezer now. Today I attack my "work room" to make it look like a bedroom again.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Well be positive the picture was taken yesterday and not today Wendy.
As for the workroom I tidied mine yesterday after finishing all my sewing. Claire's curtains, toy bag, quilt and my little grey dress. All ready now to put the camp beds up.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I completed my Xmas preparations by watching my daughter leave for Oz. No camp beds needed!

No camp beds here either. We are full up and I couldn't be bothered.
There are perfectly good hotels about.
Bah Humbug!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It's our first Christmas with the grandchildren. They can't stay in a hotel on Christmas Eve, can they? We are on the camp beds and giving our bed up to Julia and Ed, so we are in the room at the far end of the house, being a bungalow that is through a hall and the kitchen . We cannot therefore hear the very early get up time! Julia anD Ed on the other hand are in the next bedroom the Eve and Briony.

I dream of having grandchildren visiting me, instead of living with me all the time.

Mine did fly away. As soon as A levels were finished, it was off to Uni and never returned. Well Claire came back for one year whilst she bought her first house. That was 18 years ago. They have lived away longer than they lived at home, a calming thought.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
For my part, it's Finlay day and he is my little lad today. Sally is off down to Stratford to see our Ruby in her school nativity, she's a star, (but we already knew that)!
Finlay has a good pair of brown boots on today, the weather looks as if it may be kind so he and Granddad will be going for a walk.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Thanks for the well dones. Job sorted, new title and all that jazz. Baking today as it is my "cake Friday" at work, we bake in rotation (although I chose an oven) (or choose from our cathedral of choice). I used cake recipes and baked buns with them so: chocolate cake with chocolate topping (all chocolate - no cocoa powder in this); christmas cake buns with fondant icing on top (pretty) and mince pies a la Nigella with orange juice in the pastry. Pastry 50:50 mix trex and unsalted butter, plain flour and mix with orange juice makes the mince pies really fruity. I think I ought to just try one before bed time.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
All good news Jules. re. Nigella, I saw a clip of her on a cookery programme last night and it was hilarious listening to her because in view of what is happening in her life they were almost all double entendres. Couldn't get images of her evidence and white powder out of my mind when she was scattering icing sugar on the chocolate cake. Seasonal snow indeed!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Sounds good, Stanley. Pop the pinny on.
Hubby was happy with a bowl of Soup for his dinner...I haven't eaten yet as I am not hungry, so it may be a slice of toast later. Have had a tummy 'bug' for four days, which is apparently going around, though I can't say I've had a bad dose of it like some have. The good thing is that I don't seem to have passed it on. May as well go with the flow ( pardon the pun!) and not eat if not hungry. Won't hurt to lose a pound or two.

Cooking the Shepherd's Pie. Mash, stock, concentrated tomatoes and defrosted mince are all sat there in the fridge ready to go.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Keeping up the fluids, Sue ( water) though I must say this is a strange tummy bug as I am neither hungry or thirsty. I keep doing the pinch test on my skin to test for dehydration. I notice that when I do drink I get tummy pains about twenty mins later. Managed some dry toast at breakfast and some bread and butter at lunch. Feel ok on the whole. It is like a long, drawn out, mild tummy bug rather than the short lived, spectacular kind. Went for a lovely walk by the river this afternoon and felt fine until I got home. It's all very odd.
