Hard luck Kev.... I feel so lucky!

It all feels a bit easier this morning now the drugs have kicked in. They had to cut the gum to create a new 'flap' to cover the hole and there are half a dozen stitches holding it in place, they've not used the disposables this time so hopefully all will be good. Back in 10 days to have them removed. I have some gruesome pictures

Sounds as if you're in a slightly better place today Kev. I will never forget the fantastic feeling of relief when the doc aspirated my peritonsillar abscess. I could feel at that point I was on the mend. Very big needle but no pictures.

I forgot to mention, regarding holes in funny places. My brother had a perforated eardrum and a party trick of blowing smoke out of one ear! I don't have any pictures of that either.

Had another courtesy call from the Colne Dental Centre at lunchtime, very impressed with the aftercare.

Worth reading THIS Guardian report about the fact that deaths from prostate cancer in men have exceeded those from breast cancer in women.

I'm struggling Stanley, the antibiotics have been slow to work and my jaw is still sore and swollen. I managed to get an emergency appointment at my own surgery yesterday and the dentist didnt seem too alarmed. I've managed to book in for an extraction on Monday but at the moment I can't open my mouth much so something needs to improve!
On a more positive note I slept for 6 hours solid last night for the first time since Saturday.
Keeping going though, looking after the ponies.

Within two days, patients are cured of the disease and no longer transmit the parasite if they are bitten again by a mosquito. This discovery was made by Radboud university medical center scientists and international colleagues during a research project conducted in Mali. The results were published in journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases on February 6th."

This looks marvellous as long as you don't mind peeing blue (!) and the dosage is kept at a safe level.

There used to be a brand of kidney pills that made you pee green.....
Lots of Aussies holiday in Thailand and while there they drink the cheapest red cordial they can find. The dye is a prophylactic against stomach bugs.

Had the stitches removed on Friday and it's making good progress, they reckon another two weeks before it's fully healed. Not allowed to blow my nose during those two weeks which is a bit of a nuisance, Paulette has shared her cold with me...

Sniff very gently . The difference in air pressure in the sinus and my mouth could open the wound again. I think it's healed enough for that not to happen but I'm not taking any chances.

Did you see the recent report about the man who tried to stifle a sneeze and caused air to split apart tissues in his throat. After the sneeze he had severe throat pain and a scan showed that layers of tissue had been opened up - the air had to find somewhere to go.

I saw that too, I've been advised, as disgusting as it sounds, to sneeze and cough with my mouth wide open. Don't try and stifle anything, scares the life out of small children and dogs when I sneeze

I have always been convinced that it was a stifled sneeze in school assembly when I was 12 years old that displaced the disc in my spine and gave me so much trouble over the years. I never stifle them now.
The Reader's Digest once had a series of articles on how the body works and I remember them saying that the speed of air flow from the lungs could exceed the speed of sound......
At Kev's size he could break small ornaments......

Did you see the furore the other day about the children's book in which the characters pelted someone with soft fruit when they were allergic to them. The publishers had to issue a grovelling apology.....
I have one medical matter to report. For years I have had a polyp in the middle of my back which was always a nuisance, my braces caught on it and occasionally it would be irritated if I caught it. I was rubbing my back last night (as you do) and it dropped off! Yippee! My back is now as smooth as a baby's bottom.

You should have used one of your "implements" to castrate it! The ones you used on farm animals and said it doesn't hurt them a bit.
