Thank you all from both of us for your kind words and support. Two weeks on and Joan is able to manage most things without the crutches, the infection appears to be cleared up and the weeping from the nail base has ceased, the toe soon lets her know if it is subjected to any undue pressure, the colour ranges from yellow through blue and purple to black. The hardest part for her is the inactivity, she finds sitting around doing nothing very frustrating. Once again, many thanks.
Cheers: Thomo.

Sounds like good news Thomo. I can understand her feelings about the inactivity, very frustrating!

Good news is infrequent, whereas the other stuff appears to come in multiples of three and is more frequent. The wife continues to make progress, yet if there is still a problem in six months time, surgery may be required, that was the opinion of the doctors at Airedale Hospital this morning. On our return we were informed that our Brother in Law had died, I have posted details of this in the obituary topic. Yesterday I was told that the most recent addition to my family has a condition that has baffled the boffins at Leeds Hospital, my Great Great Niece can feed, and breathe, but not both simultaneously, there is also a problem with her legs both of which are in plaster, not a good start to life at all.

How is Mrs Thomo? Any news on the driver yet?

Thank you for asking Moh. There is no news of the driver yet but six weeks on and we have some progress with the injury. The massive dressings were removed on Thursday and Joan was able to bathe her foot for the first time, cue large quantities of dead skin etc, it looks much better this morning and the Doctor has given permission for her to return to work in a weeks time if she wishes, and she does. Boundary Mill have accepted that she will have to wear special shoes for a while. I mentioned earlier that she had been invited to York for a dinner given to all the longest serving employees, this takes place this coming Monday and she is all geared up and ready to go. Whilst she has been off work her department in the store at Colne has been increased in size by 19% following the demise of the Hush Puppies outlet there so she will have much to do. We are both looking forward to some normality.

The happiness was short lived. We have just been informed that her Sister who's Husband died two weeks ago has had a breakdown and is now in Burnley Hospital.

Help!
Over the years the lighting in my shed has grown like Topsy and in view of the fact I need all the light I can get to help my eyes I want to get a competent person in to advise me and do a completely new installation. I reckon it's about the best investment I can make.
So, can anyone point me towards a good man/woman who can sort me out?

Thank you Nolic - i've added Larry to my bookmarks. All we need now is a good plumber to cover the Barlick area. Does one exist....?

We used Stewart Wilkin and his team to install a number of extra radiators to our boiler system. Solid flagged floors to negotiate etc. All work efficiently carried out to advance estimate. Worth sounding out.

Very satisfied with Ben Greenwood when he fitted a new boiler for us a couple of years ago. He's listed on the Visit Barnoldswick site.

I agree about Stewart Wilkin. We had full central heating system and replacement boilers. A first class job every time.

Thank you for the plumber recommendations - it's good to have some names in reserve for any future jobs/emergencies.

I think Stewart Wilkins uses a man on Oak Terrace opposite RR. Can't remember his name but did a good job wiring the bits and pieces to the CH boiler.

SPN Electrical Ltd
This is the only electrician listed in Barlick on Google and Yell.com. Not used his services myself.
My future son In law Anthony Donald is a fully qualified electrician. Based in Sildsden but he and his lads work all over the area wherever the work comes in from.

I saw Pete in Valley Gardens yesterday and he's going to ask round the lads at the sorting office.
Ian, I might get back to you about your son in law.... By the way, do you want the transformer?

I'll pass on the transformer Stanley. I already have two power supplies and don't really need to build another. Bit short of room as well in the corner of my attic!

Right, it goes back into long term storage, too good to bin. If you come across anyone who wants one point them at me. It's a useful lump!
